There were at least three floors of stores and restaurants and we ended up visiting here a few times for both bus routes and a second hand store we wanted to visit called Moody Monday. Bus tickets are very reasonable. Given how large the building was, it took us a few minutes to figure out where we were headed. Overall, an impressive transportation hub.

At the surface, the station is underneath a decent shopping mall with quite a lot of retail shopping. Like other Helsinki stations I visited, it is clean and well lit and handicapped accessible. The free shuttle for a hotel just a short distance from Helsinki's main airport in Vantaa. I setup via a third site but I would highly recommend. There is a 24 hour supermarket in walking distance. Also if you are an iittala fan there is an outlet nearby. Don't fall for the pricy taxis at the airport, use the free shuttle though make sure the hotel knows you are coming!

We only stayed for about five hours but when we woke up for our early flight, the breakfast buffet was already out and ready. That's the first time I've been able to eat at a free hotel buffet so early! Another note is that the older woman at the night check-in was still there in the early morning to help us with breakfast. She was so warm and welcoming, that I had to ask if she was born in Finland. She was. I was surprised as we had gotten used to a kind of stand-offish, distantly polite Finnish personality but she was friendly and animated with lots of smiles. It was a perfect last moment before we left this beautiful country. Despite all Finnish airport hotels being kinda pricey, we'd stay again if in Helsinki Might see ya there.

I didn't use travel agency for private travel for over a decade, as I do all my flights online…read more But, this agency came recommended by fellow traveller and at first glance on their page, prices looked really good. Unfortunately, I made a decision to go ahead and try to book flights with them. I don't even know where to start from - sloppy service, slow in answering, not too interested in customer. But, that's not the worst. After I paid for the price they quoted in full, they ask me to pay more money. When I refused, they refuse to give me my money back. It took me 5 angry emails and week of sleepless nights to get my money back. They still charged me for 50 euros for that service. I take this as a price for my stupidity and I hope they will spend it to buy Oxford dictionary and look up meaning of service (and refund).

Check-in was quick and seamless. They asked if I wanted to have the room cleaned daily-nice so you don't have to deal with hanging signs on the door. I got my request for a room on the top floor-yes! My King room had a partial city view and was facing an office building. Room came with a Safe (with a built in Outlet for devices -which I haven't seen), mini fridge and iron. Woodwork for the Headboard and on the ceiling made for a different and unique look. Outlets were plenty with USB ports. Breakfast was available for 14 Euros and they have a restaurant (Bistro Vilholn) attached. Had dinner one of the evenings and would recommend. Sauna (separated for M/F) was a good size although the Gym was a small one. There is the option to go to a much larger Fitness Center close by. Taxis arrived minutes after being called. I saw a Piano in the back seating area and lounge. Would highly recommend for Staff that provided exceptional service, location, restaurant and amenities.

Would definitely recommend here or the Radisson Red close by, which has much more updated rooms, but not as nice of a breakfast.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe other travelers should know about my experience…read more I arrived at The Yard Hostel on July 4 at approximately 2:30 PM. I went to bed around 4:00-5:00 AM and woke up around 10:30 AM. Around 11:30 AM, my body started itching and I noticed multiple bites across my upper body. At first, I assumed they were mosquito bites and continued with my day. That night, I went to bed around 1:00 AM. At approximately 4:00 AM on July 6, I suddenly woke up because the top of my right foot was extremely itchy. I lifted the sheets and carefully inspected the bed. That's when I found what appeared to be a bed bug. I immediately took photos and recorded a video. I also have photos documenting the bites on my body. I packed all of my belongings immediately, took a shower, and left the hostel because I had an excursion scheduled that morning. I had barely slept and was exhausted. Later that day, I booked and paid for another hotel because I no longer felt safe returning to The Yard Hostel. I contacted the hostel immediately and sent them the photos and video. They later informed me that they had inspected the room and hired a pest control company, but claimed they found no evidence of bed bugs. The hostel told me they would refund only the final night, since I did not return to sleep there. However, I also requested a refund for the previous night, because that was the night when I discovered the bed bug after my sleep had already been disrupted. That request was refused. To this day, I have received absolutely no refund. After my last messages, the communication stopped and I never received any further response. This incident resulted in: * Multiple itchy bites. * A completely disrupted night's sleep. * Having to pay for another hotel. * Stress about potentially bringing bed bugs home to Canada. * A vacation that was significantly affected. I have kept all of the evidence, including photos of my bites, a video of the bed bug I found, and my conversations with the hostel. Based on both the incident itself and the way it was handled afterward, I cannot recommend staying at The Yard Hostel. I sincerely hope no other traveler has to go through what I experienced.
