The Hohe Markt situated in the center of Vienna is very famous for its historical buildings.
Beside the fountain, the archway decorated with an awesome histroical clock which you usually only find in old castles or on churches, is really an eye-catcher.
The buildings surrounding it form the "Ankerhof", which is a type of court. The insurance was originally named "Anker" and had a ship's anchor as logo and brand.
The clock is designed in a way that on the hour sharp one famous person of Austria's history appears, e.g. at 9pm sharp Austrian Empress Maria Theresia and her husband appear.
At the side you find a description of the persons and the building.
At the ceiling of the archway there are lions and historical stucco.
