I've been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails late at night. Hennessey's is a great place for any meal. I have to say that breakfast is my favorite. They serve it until 12 everyday. The Cap'n Crunch French Toast is a great staple, but if you to explore a bit more I recommend the California Benedict. Good service, good food and outside dining is perfect during summer. read more

The steaks at Hennessey's were fantastic! I had the steak and shrimp, and my husband had the Guinness-marinated hangar steak. We both ordered our steaks medium rare, and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! MUCH better than the steaks we had at the Outback Steakhouse a few weeks ago for our anniversary. The Guinness-marinated steak is one of their daily specials, and apparently they have it about once a week. The steak and shrimp (which is also a hangar steak) is a regular menu item. Both came with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies, which were good, but not wonderful the way the steaks were. We both had diet Cokes, so we can't comment on the quality of the drinks. The decor is what you'd expect for an Irish pub - lots of wood, decorations, and TVs showing sports. The noise level was OK, but I imagine it might be rather loud on weekends. The steaks weren't cheap, but they were worth every penny! We're looking forward to when we can afford to go back there again. read more

i only go here for "double cheese tuesdays" (which isn't really what it's called) -- if you read the other reviews, you know what i'm referring to. the blues burger has just the right amount of blue cheese and bacon and it's a fine, fine burger for what it's worth. if it's not tuesday, go somewhere else. i don't drink here. neither should you! yay! read more

This is probably the best of the local Hennessey's taverns along the coast (Seal Beach and Laguna are just OK). I know, the food is fairly average, but here it is the service that makes it great. Have tried breakfast and lunch here and have been happy each time. The servers are quick, polite and attentive, and that makes all the difference. Additionally, the service doesn't vary whether they are busy or slow. Would highly recommend breakfast here!! read more

Pretty decent dive bar in the Redondo Village. The servers are generally friendly and they have some good beer specials from time to time. The food is pretty typical bar food (Redondo Beach Brew Co down the street has better food), but it's at least pretty cheap. read more

Nothing special about this place. Food is just alright, a lot of times things come out wrong so double check your order. The drinks are very week to the point its not worth ordering. Unless your getting beer or wine save your money. The staff is just alright too. A lot of them have attitudes and get irritated anytime you ask for something. At night they have live music which they blast so loud that everything vibrates. Overall its not horrible and its alright to stop in for a quick bit but not somewhere to hang out. read more

I had a bad experience here that leads me to NEVER come back to this particular Hennessy's. First off I'll say I'm a local, And I usually go to the Hennys in Manhattan or Hermosa and always have positive experiences with all the staff.I was waiting for an Uber and decided to pop in here for a quick drink instead of the social house next door. It was a Saturday night so there was definitely a crowd but nothing crazy. I walked up to the bar and waited to get the attention of one of the bartenders. It was clear I was waiting for a drink, but you never want to be rude because they may be in the middle of making another drink and typically if they are busy someone will say hello and I'll be right with ya or whatever. The male bartender that night looked right at me and I said hello with a smile, he ignored me and went to the back. I thought, hm well maybe he's on break. There was another dark, wavy haired woman also behind the bar who blatantly ignored me for over 5 minutes before a nice older man next to me said " if you want to be served around here you are going to have to ask and get there attention. " Wait ...what? Thankfully he called her by name (Molly or Susie or something ending in Y) and it was only then that she looked at me and asked if she could get me anything. All I wanted was a shot of tequila. If it wasn't for this nice man I'd probably still be standing there. I guess they only serve you if you call them by name. What kind of customer service is that? It isn't. I paid my tab and left a tip for the undeserving and rude bartender. She didn't deserve a smile let alone a tip but I work in a restaurant and you just know it's better to kill them with kindness. Maybe it was just a bad night but I doubt it. Management needs to have a meeting about customer service and basic human kindness because if this is how their staff treats people then Im Surprised they are still in business. Dive bar or not being rude should never be acceptable. Do yourselves a favor and go to the one in Manhattan where the staff is friendly and hospitable. read more

I'm a fan of almost all of the Hennesseys Tavern locations. Great places to go when you have on a tee shirt, board shorts and flip flops. They are what they are. Locals like me love the tavern food, warm beer, and tolerate the smell of stale cigarettes. This, however, is my least favorite location. Partly because it is too small and poorly ventilated. The kitchen is unbelievably tiny and sits literally at the end of the bar, which generates heat and cooking smells (some good - some not so good). I heard that the same owner owns the place next door (Mickie Finz). Suggestion Mr. Hennesseys - Gut the place next door and expand Hennesseys Tavern. read more

The best fresh squeezed grapefruit / goose so so amazing! We had the chicken jalepeno quesadilla it was delicious and the meatball sliders very very good! Hennessey's Tavern has been around as long as I can remember. It has a nice look and feel to the restaurant/bar/pub. It's casual and low key with respect to dress code. For what it is, a bar with food, it is quite good. I usually camp out upstairs cuz I'm always with smokers, usually with my Sam Adams--I always get let down with their bottom of the barrel Guinness. The food is koo too, they got good burgers and a 2fer1 special on Tuesdays which I've abused myself with a few times. I haven't checked out the Wedneday deal for a free Irish meal if you win a coin flip, but that sounds cool. Although I had the shepard's pie and it wasn't very good or hot as in barely lukewarm. I like this place because it has pretty decent food. The ambiance is another plus when looking for something American in feel (or Irish). I used to take Japanese speaking friends here and overall they liked the place, the julianned fries were a hit. As for the sandwiches they weren't so impressed. They'll eat it but with a puzzled look on their faces saying 'you guys like this?' Though they were honest enough to say whether they liked it or not and let me know it. The Hennessey's burgers I like very much (in medium, my main reason for coming here aside from the atmosphere). Most of the hostages, I mean friends, liked the burgers a lot. (The hostage was really me and you become one once you blurt out the words 'Sure, I'll drive you around for a week'). Ha ha, just kidding, very kidding, except going to amusement parks with them. Didn't spend much time at this joint because it was Karaoke night for the supremely rehearsed, and supremely untalented. The outdoor patio would have been much cooler if it weren't for all the second-hand smoke. Hennessey's isn't really the greatest place, but it's close to the beach and this location beats Hermosa because at least the folks here had at least two brain cells to rub together. read more

I'm loving their 2 burgers for the price of 1 of Tuesdays. The burgers were big & yummy. Comes with chips.

Just sat at the bar tonight and received great service from the bartender. She was attentive and genuine with her suggestions and informed me of happy hour specials. Very nice and conversed with all the other bar patrons as well. The tomato soup was very yummy. Their electric lemonade is super good and only $5, I didn't have one tonight but I usually do. I always enjoy their high quality wine selections and the comfortable atmosphere. I had a glass of white Zinfandel and soup it was perfect! Would definitely keep going back.
