If these are things you want to pay money for, then look no further.  My stay at Seascape checked off all those boxes.  A call to the health authority could shut this place down.  Come on now.  HOW does this even EXIST? **On the PLUS SIDE, you could have EXPIRED, MOLDY food for FREE with a side of spiders and mice)** It's a rundown property with a dishonest property manager that will do anything to make money.  They don't care about you or your experience. I confirmed with Matthew (my host) that my reservation was good to go since I was driving a long way.  From start to finish, it was all a LIE! The photos of the suite were NOT ACCURATE.  I paid for a beautiful waterfront property.  What I got was an OLD, ABANDONED house tucked way up the hill.  The listed photos on Airbnb were for the top floor suite that someone lives in.  The initial photos were replaced after I confronted the manager that it was FALSE ADVERTISING.  My suite had NO HYDRO set up, so they forced me into the house.  The place smelled so NASTY since it hadn't been opened or lived in since the previous owners took off in a hurry many months ago. Even after all of this, talking with Matthew about all of the problems in person and my unhappiness about my stay, he reassured me and the on-site caretaker that he would give me a partial or full refund.  I didn't hear from him, so I contacted Airbnb for a resolution.  He refused and gave me NO REFUND and Airbnb offered to refund a portion. Despite the nice view of the Bay, it's NOT WORTH spending any money on a place this HORRIBLE!  This place DOESN'T DESERVE your hard earned money.  STAY VERY FAR AWAY!

We also weren't expecting the best room as we saw how much the price fluctuated depending on where you are on the property, some are ocean views and much bigger suites. The hotel photographs better than it actually looks. The location is just outside of the city by 7 mins which we didn't mind at all, the location is beautifully located right on the water but boy could it be so much better with a good upgrade and modernization. We checked in easy and the staff was pleasant. We got to our room and it was abit weird in terms of layout. Stairs down to the double bed room. There's a table randomly in the corner with one chair. The room is spacious but there's nothing to fill the space, there's no artwork either when they could totally lean into the West coast of it all. The bathroom was freezing and shoved to the back of the room like a closet - no window or ventilation. The decks have absolutely no privacy screening and the furniture is really uncomfortable so it's not the most pleasant to sit outside unless you really wanna chat with your neighbors. The beds were the best part - super comfy mattress and sheets. The amenities are worn down - we went to the gym and a lot of the stuff wasn't working. We didn't try the pool as it was quite busy with kiddos. We did however enjoy sitting on the dock down by the water for abit to soak in the ocean and sun! When we were ready to leave our car was absolutely covered in bird shit lol. There should be some sort of warning to not park under a particular tree at the back as apparently it happened to the guy next to us too a day before so he switched parking spots! We had to go to the gas station to wash it off. All in all I'd look at other options next time.

My husband and I stayed at Seaside Cottage in Campbell River in December. This is our second time…read moreat Seaside Cottage the last time was about a year ago. This trip was to go skiing at Mount Washington. We had the best of both worlds, near the ski mountain and on the ocean where we were able to treat ourselves to some fine dining at our favorite restaurant, the Harbour Grill. Seaside Cottage was the perfect choice. During the day we skied and after a long day of skiing we relaxed in the hot tub on the private deck overlooking the ocean and mountains. It was wonderful. The cottage is lovely. The gorgeous kitchen is open to the living room and dining area which is nice for preparing meals. The beds are amazing, so comfortable!! The views are spectacular. I would recommend Seaside Cottage for anyone who is planning a winter vacation (or a vacation any time of the year) and wants to be in an amazing cottage, with a hot tub on the deck to relax after a long day. We will be back again this summer (or sooner) to enjoy the cottage, our favourite hiking trails, beachcombing and all the other activities Campbell River has to offer. Truly. Well appointed two bedroom cottage with Wifi, music system, crystal clear TV, washer and dryer, hot tub, dishwasher, BBQ, glassware, and more. Leaving all of that aside, which you shouldn't, the view from the huge deck while relaxing at your outdoor dining table, or from the easy access, four person hot tub, was magical. Sailing boats, cruise ships, fishing boats, all float by as you relax in your choice of shady comfort or sunny warmth during the day, or under starry skies unblemished by streetlights and city glow after dark. This stop would be perfect in the summer with the ocean breezes to cool you or in the fall when you can sit in front of the gas fireplace after hiking to Elk Falls or fishing in nearby waters off Campbell River. Walking distance to a number of good restaurants.Next time you are there, check in. You won't be disappointed.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms nice. We had a kitchenette room, so got some home cooking for a change on a 7 week trip. Everything works! We did have a toaster that wouldn't work and they replaced it promptly on request. There are picnic tables on the lawn between the rooms and the river and a gas BBQ is available. We used the guest laundry and the wireless internet worked consistently without problem! The highway into town is nearby, but the noise is not to bad, especially in the back. A real nice touch was the drying room for guest's sports equipment. A hot tub would have been nice, but "oh, well". All in all, a very good experience.
