I Literally had to follow up on pre operation details(thankfully I did) because they never read pre orders properly. He left for one day for surgery with the understanding he would be back the next day. Then the nurse told me that in order to hold his spot we would be required to pay out of pocket. I agreed. The big mistake is I should've gotten it in writing. When he was ready to go back, they stated they gave his bed away and they no longer had room. It was unbelievable. Now that I'm working with the patient coordinator at the current hospital he is in... They stated this isn't the first time Buffalo has done this. PLEASE BEWARE

All staff need to wear name tags with LARGE PRINT NAME AND POSITION, facing out please. Residents are not showered with adequate frequency.

Mine spent time in the personal care unit prior to transitioning to an independent cottage. The director, Dave Manton and his staff made all of the transitions seamless and easy. It is such an emotional process when parents give up their home to move into more long-term retirement care. The help we have received cannot be calculated in mere dollars, as it has been invaluable. We too compared other care facilities and none measured up to CC standards and quality of community. It is truly a gem of a place located in the lovely town of Carlisle, PA.

As far as I can tell and from what she has shared, she is well taken care of. They are attentive when needed and give space when they are not. They have also been very accommodating of our family gatherings, which we so appreciate. It was not until this past visit that I realized there was actually a pool here as well! I wish she had taken advantage of this when she was first admitted. The facility is always kept super clean and it is well maintained. The grounds are pristinely kept and there is plenty of "campus" to walk around and enjoy. They have a couple of options for choice in food, but there could be more variety for residents as well as family that come to visit. We often end up ordering in which is fine however if the dining services had more specialized food (different cuisines, zest, etc. ) we would be more apt to spend money in-house. They offer gatherings for residents which some seem to take part in and they are diligent about making residents aware with a monthly newsletter. It is a wonderful facility and the staff are lovely however there could be a greater effort to address social-emotional needs of residents such as loneliness, depression, end of life talk. Perhaps this could be incorporated if there was a stronger community-building effort amongst residents or even children and/or young people. The younger residents may have an easier time doing this on their own but for the older residents it would be helpful to incorporate more interaction perhaps with the outside world, or at the least a listening ear. Bringing that to the center at a deeper capacity could help improve and increase the good work that is done here. I trust they will continue to treat her well and assist her with her needs.

There is free transportation to the nearby Park City Mall, super markets, Leisure Lanes Bowling, Walmart, and Central Market to name a few. The food in the Garden Cafe for breakfast & lunch and dinner in either of the formal dining rooms has been excellent !!! The variety and quality of food is second to none. We eagerly await the opening of the new Viva Centre, which will house a new swimming pool, 300 seat theater, exercise area, and more. It will be the center of activity for all of Woodcrest Villa.
