Worst professional experience Ive ever had ever. Hired this price gauging unethical CPA to help with my IRS audit. I had no experience with this effort and had he great reviews. I honestly just felt desperate since who does not get a bit uneasy when you are being audited. This unethical CPA charged 5k to quality check my books and ~3k just to speak to the IRS auditor. During that time this guy did whatever he wanted and burned through my retainer without providing any tangible deliverables to support my audit. He used my $$ to make calls to the IRS for years that were not being audited without my authorization or requesting the info from me directly. He just found any way to over bill me. He said he redid my quickbooks account without even getting my consent stating he couldn't interpret it but never came to me to provide me the option to agree to recreating my books, attempt to clean it up myself and or hire someone to help me for less than the 275-300/hr which is what he was charging. Then 3 weeks after paying him I anticipated everything was going as planned until 4 days before we were supposed to go to the auditor with my general ledger for my business he asked me for additional 8K!!! This cheat got 8k from me and said he would represent me 4 days before he agreed to go back to the auditor until I paid him another 8k! He wouldn't even give me what I paid for! When I called him out on this he sent me a bogus general ledger that was completely wrong and did not give me any info to support the recreated quickbook account files he supposedly created. So that I could verify his work or give it to another CPA to takeover! I had to hire another CPA to do what I hired him to do! Just a completely heartless character. When I said I wouldn't pay 8k more he tried to make me feel guilty. Playing some bs mind games that I needed him, that we were minorities and should stick together all while speaking to me in this quiet condescending manner like I was being unreasonable and being a complete idiot. I found his behavior unethical, sexist and demeaning. In addition the general ledger he provided was inaccurate with miscategorized expenses and credits which expected me to accept it because it take time to confirm its accuracy. This is the worst part of being audited because you are vulnerable and although you just want to work with someone who is one your side, someone that will support you and treat you fairly. You end up coming across these types of professionals that put their ethics and their desire to get $$ above their clients interest. We are now in a full on legal dispute because he basically was attempting to extort money for work he did not even do or refused to share. I had to hire another CPA to help who was able to use my quickbooks but we had to start the process of checks and validations all over again costing me more time and money.
