It is with a heavy heart that I write this review about our post-funeral gathering at Hermitage Banquet Hall. During such a difficult time of loss, I had hoped for understanding and compassion, but unfortunately, we did not receive that. The dinner itself was fine, but not everyone got a chance to try all the dishes. One side of the table had noticeably more food than the other, but I chose to let it go to keep the peace. Before the event, my mom and I provided the exact number of attendees. Later, my mom was asked to go upstairs to settle the bill, and at that point, she was told there were more guests than we had initially confirmed. Many people had already left by then, so we couldn't prove otherwise. Given the circumstances, we had no choice but to pay for two additional guests. When we received the final bill, my mom recalculated it and found that the total was much higher than initially agreed. Only after my mom's recalculation did the owner quickly adjust the amount, but in the end, the final total still exceeded what was initially agreed on. I write this review to ensure others don't encounter the same injustice. Initially, the owner seemed kind and understanding, but when it came down to the bill, it became clear that their priority was profit over honesty. No one should be taken advantage of during such a vulnerable time. read more

I have heard a lot of unflattering words about this restaurant, but after visiting the celebration of a significant event of one of my friends, I was convinced in reality of the truthfulness of the negative reviews about the quality of its dishes. Almost all the appetizers served were either stale or inedible and simply bad prepared. As I was later explained, the owner of this restaurant also owns a grocery store in the same building, and many of the expired unsold products there ended up on our table. Many of the disappointed guests simply left this place without waiting for the main hot dishes. This is a great place to host or attend a Russian celebration. For those unfamiliar, that's an extensive (5-hour) meal, intermingled with enthusiastic dancing and drinking. The music is in multiple languages (English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, etc.), skewing to the 80s and sung live on a mini stage. The dancing lasts for hours and includes everyone - from 20-something club folks to 6-year olds and 70-year olds. They do a prix fixe menu, served family style. So, your table gets 6-10 appetizers (e.g. potato salads, pickled veggies, charcuterie, crepes with caviar), 4-6 hot dishes (e.g. kebab, grilled chicken, dumplings, fried potatoes), desserts (e.g. fresh fruit, cakes), juice, water, tea/coffee, and a limited amount of wine and vodka. If this sounds like a lot of food, that's what the dancing is for: to aid digestion/make room. Plus, you always get to take home your leftovers, so you have meals for another week+. For celebrations, they call out folks (e.g. birthday girls/boys) and generally make everyone feel welcome and included. The space is intimate, which contributes to that feeling, and the owner, Zina, is accommodating. For those who've attended other Russian restaurants, this one is smaller (1-3 groups at a time, which allows it to be more personal/ customized) and less gaudy, decor-wise. This small but cozy place is exceptional. We've had a family and friends events there several times, and every time their menu and services were above everybody's expectations. Fresh, just cooked food was like nowhere else. Appetizers which included piroshki, variety of house made crepes with caviar, cold smoked fish, meats, chicken liver pate and salads; kebabs and salmon, assorted homemade pastries; beverages, fresh fruits - everything was so delicious! Zina, the owner of the place, was coming and checking with us by herself to make sure everybody was happy, sharing with us her secrets of her recipes. The appetizers we shared - beef tongue platter and potatoes - were excellent, delicious! The lamb shank entrée was the best I have ever had, and the salmon was quite good. The portions were hefty. The staff surprised us with a birthday song and candles in both of the desserts we ordered, plus a chocolate greeting written on our plates. I was looking for a place that would have a beautiful festive ambiance, delicious food with a good presentation, and, of course, life music. I called around to different places, but would only get one thing or the other for a twice more expensive price. Hermitage and its owners provided us the best services that I could only imagine. We celebrated my mother's birthday at this gorgeous place and couldn't be more happier! In the inside, the place looks very pretty with elements of European touch-from windows, drapes and tables to the entire set up of the room. Very pretty! The food tasted absolutely fantastic! The presentation-from the table set up to food layout was great. Everything was super fresh and tasty. The staff were very attentive to our needs. My friends are predominately American and have had minimal exposure to Russian food, music and parties - and they loved it! We've recently had a wonderful experience with the Hermitage Banquet Hall and with the owner of the place Zina. We've used their catering services to our highest satisfaction. Food was delicious, everything was nicely set up in the trays. I was also pleasantly surprised how easily approachable Zina was, either via texting, or phone calls. She gave me a few very useful and practical advices about what kind of dishes to serve and how to present them. Especially, grilled salmon, rolled eggplants, blintzes with mushrooms and potatoes, and chicken shashlik were the most popular among all guests. Her services are very reasonably priced for medium/big parties. To summarize, great service, delicious food and wonderful owner Zina! Highly recommend! Came here for a birthday party. They are great at hosting a party and creating a beautiful spread of food on the table. The table, however, was much too small for all of the food served and some of it even had to be stacked on top of one another. Additionally, the table was too short for a party of 20 and everyone felt like they were sitting on top of each other and had to shuffle around a bit throughout dinner. Great live music for the Russian community and I would recommend this place if you're an older Russian speaker who enjoys a dance party and dinner. I've attended this banquet hall numerous amount of times, for wedding events, birthday parties and baby shower! And all I can say is the food presentation and the floral designs are always beautiful. This banquet serves gourmet Russian (European) food which offers sooo much taste and deliciousness!! I love the food at this restaurant. Another great factor to this Hall is they have live singing which people can get up from their seat, head to the dance floor and the dance the night away! It's always a great time dancing on the floor after eating a meal and a few glasses of wine! We had a party for thirty people. There were dozens of dishes served, and all of them were so delicious. One expects a few dishes to be outstanding; here I wanted seconds of every single dish. Fish and shellfish were so fresh, as were the meat and vegetable dishes. The wait staff were very attentive throughout the whole evening. They provided live music; the musician was great, and very agreeable; and the sound system was top notch. The proprietor was very easy to work with. We celebrated my grandfather's birthday at Hermitage recently and had a great experience! The banquet hall is beautifully designed: elegant and spacious. The food was delicious and there was a huge variety of dishes to choose from; I liked everything that I tried. The musicians kept our energy levels up and had everyone on the dance floor for hours. Service was extremely professional, friendly, and efficient - in particular, Zina was present throughout the event making sure everything went smoothly and happy to help if we had any requests. Just opened. Great time on 9-14-2018. I had the borscht & lamb shank & she had the potato pancakes followed by chicken Kiev. All was wonderful. $12 for a 6 oz. carafe of Russian vodka followed by Baltika #9. How does it get better? Big portions, good food, & great service. WooHoo!! I had a party at Hermitage recently. The food is OK. Music is pretty bad and they only acknowledge you if give tips upfront. Be very careful with what the owner of the place promises and what you get at the end. She has no problem changing things last minute the way it is convenient to her and you do not have a choice to cancel anymore. I will NEVER go back to celebrate anything there. read more

I went to Hermitage last Saturday and I am still recovering from the great amazing off the hook time I had. I was invited to the party of the century because my co worker Marina was celebrating her birthday. The restaurant ambience is very impressive, they had 2 long beautifully displayed tables with food and flowers ( for two different parties) and then you walk upstairs and they had two private rooms over looking the party.. that is where I sat. This is my second time going to a Russian restaurant for my co workers birthday. This also happens to be the same owner, Zina. She owned Olivear (great time also!!) and now she opened Hermitage. Zina and her team did a GREAT JOB hosting and created a memorable, fun, and dance filled night. I was very impressed by the display of food and the atmosphere. I had the best time!! I am also very picky with food and not adventurous with food ( not good... I know but that is who I am) but I was able to find some dishes that I really enjoyed and my co workers were raving about the food. Zina recognized me from Olivear which made me feel even more special. She graciously made a dish for our table that I enjoyed last time, which is cheese and mushrooms... so good! I thought that was so nice and amazing for her to do because my coworker, Marina explained to her my unsophisticated palate (haha) and she truly helped me out because I was drinking a lot of vodka and needed a little more food in me to continue to have a great time and not end up on YouTube. The live music was great and had great energy. I do wish that they had more modern songs ( Beyoncé!!) but it maybe that they play music that is more nostalgic. I am African American and I felt like I was actually Beyoncé because I danced with everyone and I felt like Hermitage embraced me and invited me to a special Russian experience that I will NEVER FORGET.
