I had a rodent problem in our crawl space. I called Ryan and he thoughtfully walked me through the process over the phone. We set up a time and he came over to my house to take a look. Ryan explained everything in great detail and educated me on things like where rodents could get into the house, what they like to eat, the difference between mice and rats (who knew rats were so intelligent), different kinds of traps, etc. We walked around the house and identified spots that should be sealed up. He offered practical solutions like chicken wire and expanding spray foam (typically used for insulation). He asked me if neighbors were setting out poison because he saw several dead critters in my crawl space. It turns out, a week later I did see a poison trap set up a few houses away from me. I'm going to start with a heartfelt thank you to Ryan for being so responsive and patient as we tented and fumigated both my mother's and my uncle's homes. We discovered my uncle had termites first and then found my mom did as well. While Ryan could have done spot treatments, we decided that the best course of action in both cases was to tent and fumigate the homes. Neither had been treated for quite some time. I had no idea where to start with contracting for fumigation, but reached out to several companies via Yelp and asked my neighbor (a real estate broker) for recommendations. While all of the people I reached out to on Yelp responded, Ryan was my first appointment. He looked at both homes and provided his recommendations as well as estimates. He also offers pest control (other than termite) services. Honestly, I was so impressed by Ryan that I cancelled all other appointments and decided to give him the work. Why? 1) Ryan has the patience of a saint. My mom is hard of hearing and English is her second language. She often does not quite understand what is said through no fault of her own. She had a lot of questions and sometimes interrupts while they are being answered. Ryan was understanding and made sure all her concerns were addressed. 2) Ryan impressed me as being very responsible and wanting to ensure his customers were happy with the service provided. He provided alternative options and discussed pros/cons of each. 3) After talking to others about the cost of tenting their homes, I think Ryan's price was more than reasonable. 4) Ryan made sure we clearly understood what was involved in preparation for fumigation so we could adequately prepare and did a courtesy inspection before the scheduled service to ensure we were ready to go. Honestly, he even helped with some of the prep - opened a gate that had been screwed shut and moved rocks away from the foundation of the home. 5) Ryan was responsive. So many times after you sign a contract, the responsiveness decreases. Not so with Ryan. Every time I texted him he replied within an hour or so. Very impressed. My uncle's home is currently unoccupied during parts of the year so he does tend to have a pest problem. Ryan offered quarterly interior and exterior service at a very fair price. Last Wednesday, we noticed some pepper-like droppings on our bedroom window sill. These tiny specks are both black and white. We found that the droppings were coming from the stucco wall above the window. Through some internet research, we identified these droppings were from drywall termites. Yelp provided us with a number of termite inspection services. After getting an outrageous quote from one company, we decided to contact Hero as our second opinion. Ryan, the owner, gave us the most reasonable price to drill through the stucco area to inject a foam termite killer. Along with this was a 90-day warranty. We've had damage from dry wood termites, subterranean termites, water, rats, mice etc. Ryan took photos and explained which of these were active, and explained the areas where there was historic damage. He also used a moisture meter to check for the areas of water stains to see if there was any active leaks. The most active pests that we have at this time are rats.
