I've lived in five states and provinces and two countries and have been a pretty big nerd during all that time -- and I can pretty confidently assert that Heroes and Villains is one of the best comic and game stores that I've ever encountered. In the first place, the store is neat, clean, and well-organized (and less face it fellow nerds, that is... not always to be expected from a comic and game store). It's a place you'd be more than happy to take friends or family to. Likewise the spread of products is amazing. Like comics? They've got you covered with new and used comics as well as trades. Like roll-playing games? They've got a full spread, with a particularly strong D&D selection. (And they also take part in Free RPG Day to promote the hobby.) Or suppose you want to defend the Mortal Realms from Chaos or the Imperium of Man from the Ruinous Powers? Well, there's a whole spread of Games Workshop paints and models as well. And then there's also a fine selection of conventional board games. Finally, they've recently started carrying other modeling supplies soo that you can get nearly all your mini-painting needs in one location. Not only is the selection fantastic, but if they don't carry something, they'll happily order it for you. This is true of both comics and gaming materials. Finally, they don't just sell the material, they also provide a community venue for gaming. Indeed, much of the space in the store is full of tables for both RPGs and tabletop wargaming (with terrain supplies as well). There are scheduled blocks of time for RPGs as well as for tabletop wargaming, and they hold frequent Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 tournaments. Heroes and Villains is far more than just a place to buy your comics, it's a staple institution in the Middle GA gaming and comic book community. As a locally owned and operated small business, H&V has been the go-to destination for over a decade. It carries all of the latest and most popular comics, RPGs, miniatures, and collectible trading card games (MTG, Pokémon, etc.). But, what's equally important is that if they don't have what you're looking for they will order it for you. Multiple times I've requested specific, hard to find items and they have gotten them in a timely fashion. The owner and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and more than happy to help you with whatever questions you might have. The personable customer service and welcoming atmosphere are what really makes this store stand apart from its competitors. I am only able to visit infrequently but I always feel welcome and a sense of belonging every time I return. The store has its own unique and charming character that makes it a great place to shop and hang out. Plenty of similar stores have come and gone in the area, but H&V continues to stand the test of time. While they have a great stock of merchandise on hand, a large portion of the store that is dedicated to giving people a place to play the game of their choice. There are plenty of tables, chairs and space to indulge in whatever your game of choice is. They regularly host tournaments of assorted games and it's a great place to meet and play against peers. I'd suggest checking their website or inquiring in person for specifics on when certain games are played. It is apparent upon entering that a great deal of hard work has gone into building such a good store. Good location and plenty of parking. Good selection, friendly atmosphere, you have your occasional regulars but not overbearing like some comic shops can be. Staff is informative and very helpful especially the gentleman who I believe is the manager, the other younger gentleman is the quintessential comic/dnd type, overall enjoy visiting this shop for comics. I've been going to this store off and on for years and I've finally had enough. They are almost always rude to my wife and me, and serve their "regular" customers before me when I'm in the store. I tried to buy a book they had on the shelf, and they said they wouldn't sell it to me until the next day. Even though the book was out for release that day. So I asked if I could reserve a copy for the next day. I was rudely told that all of their "regulars" would get their copies before me and I might be out of luck. I will not be going back. You can go to literally any other comic store in middle GA and be treated with more kindness and respect. I'll be spending my comic book money elsewhere! read more

I used to go to a store back home when I was a kid called Komix Castle. The Owner of this store Mike is a great guy and actually remebered me when I used to come in Komix Castle!! Best comic book shop in Middle Georgia. I don't feel self-conscious as a geek-gal when I walk in. They treat me like all the other customers. Always good deals and free stuff. Lots of events on Free Comic Book Day- and everything was half- off. Kid friendly, and walk-in friendly. Knowledgeable staff. Good selection of games, toys, dice and collectibles too. Nice shopping center - not afraid to leave my car here and spend lots of time in the shop. Owner remembers me and is super friendly. I hope they open a branch up in Macon, because we need a comic book shop there that is as nice as this one. read more

Awesome store, awesome events, awesome employees. I hadn't been to a comic book shop I'm years, nor had I participated in competitive MTG for about 10 years. They made me extremely welcome when I came in and did not have a clue as to what the first was. I had a deck that was so far from standard legal, they hooked me up with an event deck today they had had from several weeks past, then sold it to me at a discount. They give fair prices when buying back cards, I'm there every Tuesday and Friday to play Magic. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Great place. On of the few comic stores that don't treat you like you are interrupting their game/book/music.

H&V has lots of products but terrible customer service. I asked for help in finding a book for my niece and the store manager named Brandy acted like I was wasting her time. She looked on the shelves and stomped back to the counter to check on the computer. There was a guy behind the counter who didn't acknowledge any customer and played on his phone the entire time. There were a group of guys playing some game and being rude and loud. No one told them to cut it out. This place is not kid friendly based on the vulgar things they were laughing about. "We don't have it. Do you want to order it?" She literally huffed at me. I declined and left. I would shop there if the employees, especially the store manager, were professional. read more
