Obviously people want the hot new thing but without the old stuff what's the point? These guys have "it" and they know it. Whether they take their time to show you around the store or go really far out of their way to look for issues you're looking for (so far as to even ask for my personal collection list to help)or really just provide hospitality to you and treat you like a guest it does speak volumes. The collection? Amazing. The display? Excellent. The knowledge? First class. The hospitality? Top notch. Whether you're an experienced collector or first time box subscriber this really is a great spot to go let your nerd flag fly. But in all sincerity, BUYER BEWARE, you will get sucked into the vortex of time here and a few hours will feel like minutes. That could be from the pinball games or just chatting with fans, either way it's a comfortable hang out and great for fans of some funny books.

The Staff suggested I send a Facebook message listing the titles I really wanted and they would try and set aside copies, and they did both years. I traded in a short box of comics for store credit. Realized of course that they couldn't give me retail value before doing it, but still got more than I was expecting. The amount of titles they stock from large, small and medium publishers alike is impressive. They have fulfilled several special orders I've requested. The Game Room for RPG, card games, etc. is spacious and inviting. Feel pretty fortunate to have this store in my area.

Small place makes interacting with friendly staff unavoidable…read more To say this place is small is an understatement. It's about the size of my living room. That said, they manage to pack a lot into this tiny joint. Right in the middle of the store are huge storage bins for back issues of comics. Underneath the bins are more long boxes filled with comics. Everything is clearly labeled, making things easier to locate. Most labels are by character name (i.e. Green Lantern) or title name (Justice League, X-Men). You might have to do a little digging, however, as multiple volumes/series are lumped together under one heading. When I couldn't find something specific, the staff were quick to jump in to help me find what I wanted. Along the side walls are more back issues. Along the back wall are the current issues for the week/month. The counter along the left has glass display cabinets featuring high-priced comics under lock and key. Statues, toys, memorabilia, artwork, action figures and Funkos are displayed for sale throughout any and all available spaces. Price-wise, they are pretty fair. They didn't seem to jack up the prices of variant cover back issues like some other stores do. And, when I purchased over $250 worth of stuff, the owner, John, gave me a break on the price of a few items. They recently hired some new staff, and they are slowly re-organizing everything to better utilize the limited space. But, with 1000's of comics, it's a work in progress. Not a big store, but punches above its weight class.

Legends was the third comic book store we hit in Victoria, the first two were ok but the service and selection at legends was vastly superior. My older son found some amazing old westerns (his fav) and the price was just right, $2-$3 each. We walked away with a fresh stack of new books and both my boys received a little gift on the way out the door. Made their day and their whole trip! 10/10, would recommend and we will be stopping in here anytime we come to Victoria to grab some more awesome books at an awesome price!

I was visiting Victoria with my family on the weekend (for my birthday, no less). While in Legends, I found a book I was interested in. There was however, no price on the book. I took it to the counter and asked the gentleman (I'm assuming the owner) the price. He told me it was $25.19. Since I was on a trip with my family I figured I had better be fiscally responsible seeing as how I was already purchasing other books and we had more places to visit (not to mention I had my daughter with me and thought it would be a good example to set). I had a short but friendly conversation with the owner about my town and I left thinking that it was such a great experience. As we drove further up Island, I began to regret my decision. When we arrived back home, I called a friend of mine in Victoria and asked if she'd be willing to pick the book up for me. She was more than happy to oblige. She was there first thing this morning and picked up the book explaining it was for me, the guy who was visiting from out of town. He charged her $51.00, saying that he had given me the American price but I had turned it down. First of all, not once did he mention to me that it was the American price, nor that he was giving me a deal that would expire if I declined purchase. Had that been the case, I would have snapped it up, thinking I would be saving some money if I were to find it elsewhere. Secondly, since when is the Canadian price 100% more than the American price?! I've looked it up online. He obviously took advantage of the situation (and my friend) and made himself a nice profit. Basically, he punished me for not buying it right away. Great customer service. It's a shame because I thought it was a great little shop with a good selection. I would have made it my first stop on my next visit to Victoria but that's not going to happen. I thought the owner was a nice guy but it turns out he's just a greedy SOB. I guess the lesson for my daughter is, don't trust anybody, even if they seem affable. The worst part of this situation is that it's going to be very difficult for me to enjoy the book as this experience will stick with me every time I see it. So happy birthday to me and a big F**K YOU to Legends.

With todays city environment, there are less and less healthy places for kids to congregate. Luckily Ladner has Dave and his shop! As for the products, he has an excellent array of games, comics and accessories. It's kind of located away from the main strip in a non-descript building. Once you enter, head to the far wall for all the latest comics. On your way there, you'll also find aisles and aisles filled with boxes of old comics. A quick perusal had me finding 20+ year old comics available. Comics are very well organized with labeled partitions. I had no trouble locating some of my favorite titles. That said, there were many back issues missing from the title I was pursuing. Prices, however, we're good since they were virtually cover price for 3-4 year old comics. The staff are friendly. In the short time I was there, a few regulars dropped by and were greeted like long-time friends. This store also has a large selection of Dungeons and Dragons figures.....the kind that you paint and role-play with. Not my thing, but it's available if you like that sort of thing. Also, they have a small selection of action figures, statues and busts of comic book characters, although prices seem a bit higher than I have seen in Vancouver shops. All in all, a good way to relive your childhood one comic book at a time.

It isn't as big as Taz Comics, but I've managed to find a few missing issues here that I couldn't find elsewhere. Comics are pretty well organized, but ask for help if you can't locate something, or you need help bringing down one of the heavy comic boxes. Pricing is generally reasonable for back issues (i.e. within +/- 50 cents what other places are charging). But, I have noticed some inconsistencies; one time, a comic I wanted that was in the back issues section section was more expensive than the same comic in the current issues section. Obviously, I grabbed the cheaper one. Toys, action figures, statues, busts and other collectables are also available for sale. However, you might want to check online first to compare prices. They also have a bunch of Funkos, including some rare ones that are priced accordingly. I don't collect Funkos, so I have no idea if prices are market value or not. Big Pete's is obviously a family run business as I sometimes see what seems like several generations of the family helping out at the store. Staff are generally friendly and helpful when asked questions. Free parking is available nearby, but may be difficult to find on the weekends if the weather is nice. COVID restrictions may require that you wait outside to get in as they only allow for a few customers at a time. Luckily, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, they are closed Sundays, meaning the only time I can go is on Saturdays, which is usually a busy day.

Turns out there are three comic shops on the same block that have all been around since the 90's. Today I learned about Batman Red Death. Comic book 52 seems to revolve around a multi universe. I will looking into this and see what else I can learn about it. "The game is a foot" as Sherlock Holmes would say. More adventures to come on Canada Day.

Daughter and I saw it during our first early-am walkabout - it was closed, and we planned to get back later and check it out. So glad we did -- what a little 'gem' it turned out to be! A bookstore like no other I have seen in years. With so many offerings, and well-organized. The books priced at $2 /book!! And the salespeople so friendly, and helpful We made several visits during our stay, and caught a good number of titles to bring home with us - mostly for Mom, the most avid reader.
