The WORST customer service we've dealt with ever in my life. and the manager GABE HERNANDEZ will not return phone calls, thanks for showing my family how you all truly care about your customers. We booked months in advance and no proper vehicle when we went to pick it up; not ONE employee offered to help or make things right. We booked our rental 4 months in advance and when we went to go pick it up they didn't have the proper vehicle for us.. nor did anyone try to help us find the correct vehicle, they honestly didn't care to help us or fix their fck up. Took us 2.5 hours to cancel the reservation, STILL HAVENT GOTTEN OUR REFUND. AND left TWO MESSAGES with live person, asking them to have the manager GABE HERNANDEZ call us back, and he still has not reached out to us, again no one gave a damn that we had to cancel our trip. I forgot my 600 dollar glasses called the next day went to two locations because they said the car was moved and someone stole them and they told me it's hard to prove if they driver stole them even though I barely dropped the car off yesterday. If I could give fewer than one star I would. We rented a car last Thursday morning through Expedia to be picked up an hour later at the NW 410 Loop location here in San Antonio. The manager called several minutes after our reservation was made to say they had the car. When we got to the office 15 minutes later, the young lady agent said they didn't have the car because it needed to be sent for maintenance. As we stood there talking to her, the manager walked through the office and left without saying one word to us. The young lady, whose name I wish I had, said to the manager that she would call him if there were any issues. After he walked out she then said she could rent us another vehicle, a midsize SUV, but we would have to the rental price for that car rather than the sedan we were trying to rent. So rental cost would have gone from $178.00 to $358.00. She would offer us no discount because we had made our reservation only that morning. She was rude and obviously not helpful, other than telling us there was an Enterprise location nearby. She truly didn't care if she rented a car or not. She never offered to call the manager even though my brother asked her if she could do so. Horrible horrible customer service...do yourself a favor and go around the corner to the Enterprise location to get your car!! read more

I reserved a car 2 weeks ago. I get there and "the system" just went down. Other customers who were getting cars there their car insurance were able to be served. But because my rental is for personal reasons, I can come back and try later. How does this even make sense? This doesn't help Hertz come out of bankruptcy. read more

Horrible car rental company. Made me wait a two hours to pick up a car that was reserved, found a way to charge me an extra $500 with no receipt provided and without notifying me. Try to call and no one picks up. I request an online receipt and they just say to total with no details at all regarding the charges. just a scam of a company and really regret using them but based on these rating they clearly don't care. read more

These leeches can and will cancel your long-standing reservation at the last minute, leaving you stranded. They will offer no options or compensation, just meaningless words. I can't drive words. If you're looking for people that will act like adults and do what you paid them to do, you're going to have to find them elsewhere. And no, I'm not going to message you to "give you a chance to review my concerns." You had that chance when you cancelled my reservation and you didn't care then. I have nothing but good things to say about this rental experience. I originally made a reservation through a third party for the Hertz near MacArthur Park but once I got there they told me that the only cars they had available were Teslas and they were unable to honor my third party rate....ok, so wasted Uber ride there...walked out and headed to my destination. While there I searched the Hertz app and found cars at this location cheaper than my original third party quote for a same day rental!!! Once I arrived here I was warmly greeted by James who took care of me. At the time they only had two rentals available a Chevy Bolt and an F150 extended cab-I displayed my hesitancy about an electric car and huge truck so he asked if I mind waiting until one of the rentals return from the shop which was about 30mins. I didn't mind at all so while waiting a car was returned by a customer-so they quickly got it cleaned up and was able to put me in a brand new Ford Edge. The ride was very smooth with great gas mileage. Upon return, James asked if I needed a ride and was able to get me a Lyft back to the house! Very good experience - I will be sure to use this location again if I ever need a rental in the future. read more

*** the 5* reviews on here are either employees or friends of employees. Because let me tell you. These are the rudest, most arrogant people in the entire city. This is not an exaggeration. There is no taking to them about anything. They don't honor reservations. They do not try and find another location to bring a car over. They just say a very unmeaningful sorry with a shrug of the shoulders and move on to the next sucker. How in the hell are they even open for business. These reviews are no lie. This is one instance where I can say the public is being very forthcoming in their reviews. Speaking with their neighbors, even they have issues with them. They expressed they cannot stand working next to them. They damage property and curse them out. Have their cars towed. My reservation was made 1 week ago. I dropped my vehicle at the auto shop and I I waited for 2 hours for a pick due to not having my rental available and ready . They had to get it from a different location. Nothing was pleasant about my reservation. Horrible experience. Customer service seem to not care about service. I was told my company covered the loss damages insurance only to find out they didn't cover it and it was an up charge they added. When returning the car, they asked if I wanted to refill the gas so I wasn't charged. I filled up and was charged the 9.99 a gallon on my receipt. I called to get it removed and the manager stated he didn't know why I was charged, and that he didn't know why I hadn't gotten my receipt emailed. It was probably "stuck in the Ethernet" I told him I'd go back to pick it up and he conveniently emailed me a copy. read more

I've rented cars from here twice already. First time was unpleasant because the woman was rude to me for no reason. She said something from the back room and I didn't know if she was talking to me so she came out and said "well I wouldn't be talking to anyone else would I?" Just rude. Today I went to pick up a car and although the hours say "7:30-6:00" and although I had my rental scheduled at 8am, there was no one there when I showed up. Doors were locked and I had to just get a Lyft back. Waste of time. Seems like they just don't go by any rules and just do things however they feel like. read more

Oct. 9th 2021, I was in desperate need of a rental to get from San Antonio to Houston to catch a flight after my San Antonio flight was cancelled. I was originally told by the Hertz counter staff I could not rent a car without a major credit card as all I had was a debit card which didn't qualify for a rental. I walked away and had a seat across the terminal well far away from the Hertz counter to figure out what I was going to do. Approx. 10 minutes later, a Hertz staff member, "Lakayla" approached and told me there was a way to obtain a rental if I had a purchased flight ticket in Houston which I had. Thank you Lakayla at the San Antonio Airport Hertz desk!! You should be commended for going above and beyond to find me to help me. I hope this makes it's way to you somehow to show my appreciation until I am back in San Antonio which will not be soon. P.S.- I missed my flight in Houston too. I should've rented a faster car. This is my second time renting from this location. The first time was a great experience. The rental pick up and drop off were both quick. That experience is why I returned for another rental car. My second experience with this location was horrible. I took over an hour to finally greet the rental. The drop off took close to an hour. This location is definitely not concerned that people are trying to get in and out right away. I was told to call their 800# because I requested something they said couldn't be done in the office. After calling I was told my request could be done in the office. The lady in the officer didn't bother to apologize for making me call the 800# for nothing and having me wait longer to get my vehicle. Last time I go to this location. read more

They don't even deserve 1 star! They don't explain everything to you and overcharge you. I have never needed to rent a car but was involved in an accident and the insurance covered the rental car. We decided to get the extra coverage for the first five days only since that was when we would be driving the car the most. Greg, who apparently was new, didn't explain that you had to physically come in to cancel the insurance even though I was agreeing in store to only have the coverage for 5 days. Greg even told me he had me down for only 5 days of the coverage. When I went in to return the car after 15 days (that's when they were finished with my car) Derrick was the only one in the office and was overloaded and distracted. He was covering phone calls from another office and had two other customers in the office. When he told us we would be charged the whole 15 days I explained the situation. He said to leave the car and he would leave my account open until a manager could review it and give us a call back. Didn't receive a call and saw on my bank account I was charged for the full amount. When I called to speak with the manager she was very rude and said it's their policy to physically go into the store to cancel the extra coverage. I told her how am I supposed to know that If that's not how it was explained to me. Then I asked her to show me where on my original paperwork does it say we have to physically go in to the store. She couldn't show me and said since the account is already closed there was nothing she could do. I had to call the corporate office and all they could do for me was refund half because the manager refused to admit it was their mistake. read more

I made a reservation about a week in advance. When I arrived, I was told my car was in route to be delivered from another rental location. After a 30 minute wait, the rental agent upgraded to the next model up. I was there before another couple and she assisted them before attending to me. It took another 15 minutes to get me on my way. I appreciate the upgrade, but it took too long. I was already an hour behind schedule. Unfortunately, the rental agent never apologized for the inconvenience. The rental price was very reasonable, but the customer service was not great. read more

Dissatisfied customer. No stars here I recently rented a vehicle from Hertz that my insurance referred and paid for. After going in and waiting over 20 minutes due to minimal staff there was a gentleman who began to assist me. When I was asked if I wanted any additional insurance coverage I responded with NO. The man went on typing away but at the same time a young girl walked in and went straight to a cabinet that had keys in it. The man proceeded to turn (while helping me still) and asked her to clean a vehicle for a customer that was waiting ahead of me. The girl ignored him and then told him she was busy. (AND YES THIS WAS DONE IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS). As he turned to continue with helping me another man came up to him and talking and giggling right before the phone rang and the young man assisting me went to answer it. He went on the computer to assist the customer on the phone while i was standing in front of him waiting to complete my transaction and get my rental. He finally hung up, asked for a signature and had me wait for a car to get cleaned. Both men working there said I could leave to get lunch and go back if I would like but I just waited. Once the car was ready the young man walked outside looked at the car for any prior damages and handed me the keys and paper work only saying "here you go". Upon returning the rental I noticed charges on my account for $582, after notifying my insurance they stated I never should have not been charged since they paid for everything. She later contacted Hertz and was told I accepted the insurance and therefore the charges were for that. I went in and spoke to the area manager named Dan who was NOT helpful at all. The man that assisted me was there and I confronted him and told Dan how I declined the coverage and I trusted the employee to do what the customer had asked which was DECLINE ALL ADDITIONAL COVERAGE OR INSURANCE. Dan went on to say if I signed then he would refund half and I told them NO I wasn't going to pay for something I declined and I wanted to see video footage showing that I accepted the coverage. Dan went on to say he had to investigate. All this conversation was recorded and given to my bank due to fraudulent charges made without my verbal concent. When the bank notified Dan he did not have much to say other than they have NO video cameras and they would refund half and again this is all recorded. Half the charges have been refunded and my bank has filed against Hertz and my money is being recovered. Read ALL documents before you leave because they have incompetent employees employed there and an area supervisor who doesn't know what customer service is about. Poor customer service. Who knows how many other people have paid these fees after clearly telling the Hertz staff NO, DECLINE, REFUSED. They made need a dictionary to look up the definition. read more

I will NEVER recommend HERTZ ever again! My mother went into this location Yvonne the Ass. Manger was VERY rude, belittled my mother for not understanding the contract and then proceeded to say she was going to go into her office and shoot herself in the head, i went in the next day and all she did was smirk at me and tell me she hadnt eaten lunch and that she wasnt sorry, I have been calling the Branch Manager for 3 days his phone goes straight to voicemail, I called Corporate and filed a complaint. I followed up today and was told that no complaint was filed!!!!!! ENTERPRISE FROM NOW ON! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You reserve a car through AAA. You get an e-mail with confirmation numbers, prices for the rental charges and everything, and when you go to pick up the car, they say they have no cars available!!
