I needed a different drop-off location from the Atlanta Int'l Airport. After googling & going to 3 different locations, they were all closed & without any signage or further instructions. I became very displeased. I knew about PDK Airport for private flights, yet didn't know the Hertz location was open to the public. Once I entered the Airport, I got turned around a little bit. I saw a Gentleman detailing a car in the parking lot who guided me to the location. He also ended up being one of the other employees working the counter...Hey Mr. George. Cee-Cee, the employee at the counter gave me a welcoming smile & stated she'd be right with me while she finished up with other customers. My turn & Cee-Cee got my info, inspected the vehicle (the Nissan Rogue rides nice & is great on gas) & closed me out all within a few minutes. I'll be renting from this location from here on out due to the expedient & highly-rated customer service. I reserved an Economy vehicle several days in advance before picking it up. When I arrived at the Hertz location, they informed me that they were all out of the Economy option and instead I was forced to upgrade two vehicle classes, costing an additional $20 per day. The lack of transparency ahead of reserving the vehicle is infuriating. I would've gone to another rental location if I had known they didn't have what I reserved. PLUS they gave me a car that had been smoked in previously... Once I got to the location, they were very apologetic. But too little too late. Absolute worst rental experience we've ever had was with this particular hertz. Specifically the manager Tori was the rudest most unprofessional person I've ever worded with. She left dozens of ppl stranded with no rentals after giving away all the reversed rentals. Causing dozens of people to be stranded at the Atlanta airport at 1am. Her entire staff was disrespectful to every single customer. She made my children cry and left elderly handicapped people and small children stranded in an airport and told them she didn't care. There was a lady that came in when I picked up my car and she immediately had a bad attitude and started a verbal exchange with Corwin. (Bald gentlemen with the epic beard). Even though she was rude I was impressed with how he handled the situation. He was very respectful and laughed it off and she kept persisting she cracked jokes back lightly. Nothing rude, just matching her energy enough to be playful yet professional. I was very impressed. The car was great. Only issue is it needed an oil change half way through. Scared me a bit. But one day with that light on I'm sure is fine. The lady also when I picked it up was wonderful. Very friendly and personable. Fun energy all around. And the OG when I returned was very polite and respectful and got me in and out quickly. Very good experience. I usually don't have good experiences with rentals. My Apple AirPods, which were taken from a rental vehicle on the evening of January 12th, 2025. Utilizing Apple's "Find My" application, I have tracked the AirPods' location to what I reasonably believe to be the residence of one of your employees. The tracking data indicates that the AirPods were transported from Hertz rental car location to Atlanta Airport food court, then back to Hertz rental location, and finally to the individual's residence, without being returned or reported as found. I literally have this thief's address. As I speak, they are now back at the Hertz rental car location, after having taken lunch at the airport food court. You can't make this stuff up!! I've emailed Hertz Customer Care, Filed a missing item report and a police report, all without response from Hertz. Noone picks up at their Atlanta location - I've call over a dozen times. UNBELIEVABLE!! I am requesting that this matter be resolved promptly, either by recovering and returning my property. Hertz just lost a customer over 18.75 fuel charge( reservation #K89142484C0). I rented the vehicle on 6/20 to 6/24 picked it up with 90%=3/4 tank ( gate Agent said it when I exited parking lot) I took a picture of the tank and returned it with 95%. I was assessed a fuel charge when i actually returned it with more gas. When I call for the issue the prompts are already set up to scam you because you cannot talk to an agent if you select that issue. I have to submit a receipt of when i fueled in order to appeal it . I rented a car in Newark, and after returning it, I kept getting texts and emails saying there is damage and that if I don't pay for repairs, I will also have to pay fees. There are "before" and "after" photos. And there is NO DAMAGE! I was not in any accidents, and there is no visible damage in the photos. I have tried calling Hertz, but -- of course -- you can't find someone to talk to, and if you can, they can't help you. I have replied to the email and even attempted to contact Hertz customer care through their online portal. And still the texts and emails telling me there is damage and I need to pay continue. Our luggage and other personal belongings were literally locked in the car. There was no other way to unlock the car. We called customer service, sadly with that company there is no such thing as customer service. They told us that we would have to pay to get the car unlocked. Several weeks ago I booked a one way car rental reservation with Hertz. My intended itenerary involved picking up the vehicle in Atlanta on December 26, 2022 and returning it to Miami on January 4, 2023. In between I had a number of mission critical stops that involved destinations between those two cities. When arriving in Atlanta I was upsold by the Hertz representative to a minivan (as a "comfort plus option"). Yet, upon being directed to the vehicle in question I observed, to my consternation, that the odometer registered almost 60,000 miles. As anyone may undoubtedly comprehend, rental car miles are like dog years. Thus, 60,000 rental miles typically equals a far greater wear and tear on a given vehicle. Nevertheless, trusting in the quality reputation of Hertz I accepted the vehicle and began the drive. Within approximately fifty miles it became apparent that the transmission was failing. Fortunately, I was able to limp to the Macon, GA Hertz office where I explained my predicament to the staff. I was handed the keys to another minivan -- once again with almost 60,000 miles on the odometer. I was told that this was all that was available. The good news is that the transmission did not fail on this vehicle. The not so good news is that the suspension did fail. Though I planned to arrive in Miami on January 4th I expedited due to the second vehicle problem and dropped it at your Miami airport location. Thus, I was compelled to skip several important stops along my route of travel. In Miami, I was given a much lower mile Chevy and experienced no further mishaps. Interestingly, upon reviewing my bill for this "adventure" I see I was charged just under $1,600 for the dubious pleasure of sampling two of the worst rental cars I've ever encountered. Perhaps adding mild insult to obnoxious injury, I was charged the one way daily rate though both the vehicle and I were in Miami from the 30th of December to the 4th of January. Here, I would invite any Hertz representative viewing this to perhaps consider the totality of the matter at hand from the customer's perspective. Essentially, at every turn I was charged hyper retail but given not one but two substandard products. As a business person and owner of a small company I could never expect to achieve success by following such an intrinsically flawed business model. I had a great experience at the Atlanta, GA airport location. The manager was wonderful and upgraded my vehicle as the one I wanted had dirt on the back seat. I had originally just asked the first person I saw, who I didn't know was the manager, for a wet wipe so I could clean the dirt and wanted to make sure there was no damage I might be charged for. (I really wanted that SUV, lol). The next thing I know, he upgraded me to a bigger SUV for the same price! Wow! You usually expect car rental to be a nightmare with hidden fees, but Hertz in the Atlanta, GA airport was exactly the opposite. Great experience, no hidden fees. They are now my go-to in Atlanta. The company is located inside of the building, which was a little hard to determine at first. Made a reservation for 8am.. boom no cars (this is a CAR rental place btw ). Get called around 2pm to get it. The car was nice, no driving problems, however, upon returning the vehicle they add a 400 smoking charge when neither of us smoke, and a fuel surcharge when they didn't even have the tank on full themselves the day it was picked up (which is documented). Two credit cards were used in the process and they charged both cards for the deposit AND the smoking charge when only one was for the 200 deposit and the other was used for actually renting and reserving the car online. The people who work here are idiots and I believe one is Brandon or something. I was able to get all of my 500 back, even reimbursed for fuel charge. Worst car rental experience. Arrived at the Hertz ATL on a Sunday afternoon. Waited in line for about 45 minutes before i got my rental. I was told to go to the corner of the parking deck to find a car of the size I asked for. It was dark inside the parking deck I walking around and found a Toyota Corolla which rental fee was $37.12 per day for 4 days. I didn't notice there was a 2 to 3 feet long crack on the passenger side windshield not until i drive the car out of the rental center. It is dangerous to drive a car with a crack that long on the windshield but it was kind of later so I didn't go back because God knows how long I have to wait in line again. I returned the car on Thursday it was easy on that part only took minutes. Next day i checked my email for the receipt. The total charge was $490.82. Apparently the charged me all the optional services they have. The only option I agreed to was the prepaid fuel which was 40 something dollars. $139.96 for Loss Dmg War. $39.96 for Prem Road Serv which I don't even know what they are. It makes really angry because they did not explain everything to me but to assume that I agree to one thing automatically agree to everything. After I contacted Hertz it makes me even angrier. They told me that once I accept those optional services (which I did not agree) there's nothing they can do. So to those who are going to rent cars from Hertz in the future make sure you read the invoice and agreement very carefully before you sign anything. Got a weekly rate for a compact car. Arrived, no small car was available So they gave me an SUV (at the time I wasn't charged for the upgrade). I didn't need the car for the week because my car was fixed, turned the car back in within 24 hours. Assumed I would only be charged for ONE day not 7. The man who checked me back said it will refund me the difference. however, he did not fix my rate so they charged me the full rate, over $300, basically for 12 hours. I had to call several times to inquire about my refund, it has been 9 business days. The man still didn't fix the issue Because he was 1) lazy or 2) didn't know that he needed to do something on his end for me to get my money back. On the tenth day I called customer service, they said it was no refund because he never changed he rate. So they changed it for me. They charged me the daily rate for the SUV. Even though I was told I wouldn't be penalized for them not having the smaller cheaper car I requested. So my daily rate of $32 is now $76. Basically, I've lost about 40$ because ONE man didnt do his job AND didn't care to fix the issue. The whole experience is a MESS. 0 stars if I could. Go to enterprise. read more

Horrible place, booked the car and bought the insurance through Expedia, the staff just told we need to buy the insurance an d let us signed then we paid extra $295 dollars insurance. When we return the car and asked the staff there why you charged us twice again for the insurance, she said the people who worked in the front desk always do that and we can call to get the refund. Then we called them they said we signed the files so they wont give our money back. So this is a horrible place, they just try to charge you as much as they can. And except the lady who told us we could get the refund, all the other staff we contact there are horrible. This is an dishonest company with shitty service. Never and ever use it again. read more

This has honestly been one of the worst customer service and overall service experiences I've ever had. I'm still in disbelief at this whole experience. I (along with my two young children) rented an SUV to travel to NC for Labor Day weekend to see my parents. It is a six hour trip, and we were traveling at night. When I picked up the Nissan on Thursday afternoon, I loaded up the rental and got ready to hit the road. The low tire pressure warning light was on. I scrambled to find someone to help me since there were only two employees. The female employee gave me the option of a new car (I think???), but when I told her that I had to pick up my daughter from daycare by 5pm (I asked her if I could go pick her up while she got the car ready... keep in mind that all of my belongings were already in the rental), she said she would just put air in the tire and it "should be fine." What?!?!?! You knowingly are renting me a car with a tire problem. She clearly didn't check the tire, and just put air in it. I asked her what the pressure was. I was told the car "doesn't have that feature." It does, I came to find out later. She said "the tire might just have a slow leak but it should be fine. Just bring it back if you have a problem." Again, what?!?!! I explained I'm not in town this weekend, we are traveling. She clearly was ready to leave and was blowing me off. So, we started off on our journey. About four hours down the road, on the interstate, at night, with a mother and two Young children, the tire warning light comes on. It had gone down to 26. We were not close to Major gas stations, so arrived at two with broken air pumps. We finally found one, put some air in it, and traveled back down the road. By the time we reached our destination, it had already dropped 15 pounds, clearly not a slow leak. I spent the better part of the next day on hold with Hertz, with pretty much no solution offered except to get it patched myself. We were not near a hertz rental to exchange it, and the lady who rented me the car in the first place said emergency roadside would come fix the tire. Spoiler: they don't do that. They will just bring you to a tire place to get it fixed. So, that's what I did, but not before having to put air in the tire to even make it to the service station because the pressure was at 11!!! Pics are included. Turns out, there was a nail in the tire. Clearly the tire had not been checked when the employee put air in the tire and sent a mother and two young children on their merry way to travel through two states. The tire was patched, and this morning I got ready to travel back when.... the tire is back down to 20!!!!! So, here I am back at a tire place that is luckily opened on Labor Day, where I will probably have to pay out of pocket for the new tire, since Hertz doesn't cover tire replacements since I didn't buy any of the add ons. This is the explanation I got from emergency roadside. I was also told on Friday that they would probably only take off the cost of one day's rental. I've literally been dealing with this my whole vacation. It's not only been a huge inconvenience and total pain in the butt, but it's also been an enormous safety hazard. This is unacceptable, and I would be trying to communicate my concerns with Hertz except... they've been closed since Friday. How convenient. This is unbelievable!!!!! read more

Not surprised to see this place has 1 star. We tried to rent a car seat - it was faulty. They couldn't understand why we couldn't drive with a baby in a car seat that wouldn't secure... Also, they gave us the wrong vehicle at first INSISTING it had a third row. We struggled trying to find third row for about 20 minutes while they all sat inside. Finally we convinced them it wasn't a 7 passenger and we needed a different vehicle. Overall, it was a nightmare. It was about a 5 hour ordeal - we had to make a trip back to get things resolved AND had to stop at another Hertz location for further assistance. Do not do business with Hertz. Especially the location at the Atlanta Airport. A 1 day rental and 40+ miles came with a 2k bill and a report of $700+ miles. The car was returned to their lot so only an employee would have been able to remove the car. I filed a claim with Hertz, they denied the claim, stated the car was kept for 14 days and had to be repossessed. Despite photographic evidence of the car being dropped off and a picture of the speedometer showing the mileage which they are not interested in seeing nor will they provide any details of their investigation. I will never use Hertz again. I prepaid for my 3 day rental via the Hertz website. We scheduled to pick up the car at 9pm at the airport location upon arrival of our flight. Our reservation included our flight information, so hertz knew that we were traveling via plane. We picked the car up at 9:20 pm according to the rental record. While checking my email still in the Hertz parking garage, I realized that the Hertz associate added 3 different Hertz insurance plans that we did not agree to AND changed my daily rate to 3x's the original rate that I had PREPAID. My credit card had been charged $879.00 on top of the $250.08 I had already PREPAID for the rental. The only options we agreed to were the addition of a driver (3 days x 13.50 per day) and the fuel surcharge of $86.82. My additional charge SHOULD HAVE BEEN $116.45. AN OVERCHARGE OF $762.55! I asked the person at the garage gate for the number of the checkin desk and he had no idea. I called 800-654-4174 starting at 9:42pm and it is impossible to get a human. I used the chat in the app, I messaged via Facebook, I called the direct number to the Hertz counter at the ATL airport NINE times in 2 days and not once did anyone pick up the phone to help me. I spoke with the Hertz counter when we dropped of the car and was fed a lot of nonsense including that my daily rate changed because I picked the car up 20 minutes LATER than I said I would - at an airport, where you ask renters to provide flight information if they're traveling. Give me a break with this. I'm disgusted with the deceptive business practices that Hertz employees engage in, and the lack of concern over making things right. NEVER WALK AWAY FROM THIS RENTAL COUNTER WITHOUT OPENING THE FOLIO THEY GIVE YOU - IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THEIR NONSENSE CHARGES. How can you provide such poor service to a President Circle member. Most times I have not had issues, but on last trip in 2019 I saw a charge of 25 for fuel.
