BEWARE: Appears to be Unethical, Untrustworthy & Price Gouging Was told base starting price was $225 price goes up depending how complicated return. I tried to get specifics on what causes the price to go up & got the runaround. I was suspicious - no one wanted to give a straight answer on cost. I told them I did NOT want to have a $500 fee. NOTE: I gave them my last year tax return, they knew exactly what they would have to do, so why no Estimate? They waste your time and most people probably just pay. My last Tax Attorney, did my taxes in one hour while I sat in the office, I have two retirement incomes, & one small business making 12K with about 20 deductions. He charged $450 including representation for IRS audits. After 3 days & three phone calls, my bill was $470 bucks, I was not happy at all. This really is outrageous, for that price I felt like I should have at least got a massage and dinner. UPDATE: I expressed my concerns about the fee. The Office manager was nice & gave me the "Used Car Speech", your taxes needed lots of work, we did it right, we got you more money & this is the first time so that is why it was more I still could not get a reason or list for fee determination so I asked to speak to one of the two Owners, Hess or Rohmer. I was told Mrs. Rohmer reviewed my return and was OK with the fee. Neither owner would take the time to talk to me or hear my side When I went down to settle up was told again, you are paying more but we saved you more Look any business that won't be open about their fees and wants to make them up as they go is normally NOT above board. This place has a stinch of sleazy circle talk so they can make up fees to take advantage of the customer So while I was there, I let the Manager know I was not happy that neither of the owners would talk to me or hear my concern and issues About five minutes later Mrs. Rohmer came out. She was already upset, appeared shaking and was arrogant in her speech and behavior. I was not nice either since I knew I was being jerked around Mrs. Rohmer was condescending, talking down to me like a 5 year old, telling me how great they are and much money they saved me and did not want to hear what I had to say. Her manner was rude and her tone was insulting. She really needs to take a class in self awareness and de escalating conflict. All she did was throw fuel on me I had no intentions of paying this rip off company, but trying to get a word in over Mrs. Rohmer condescending baby talk like she was scolding her 5 year old, was enough I finally lost it and told I would appreciate if you stop with condescending attitude and stop talking me like a was a f-ing idiot. Oh, that got her all offended. The fact she was ripping me off and trying to screw me over was fine but then played I so offended card and cried don't you cuss at me. Trying to deflect from the issue she was trying to rip off. Really a waste of time. All they had to do was look at my last year return & say it will be $500 & then I would have went elsewhere. Saved us both time and grief. Lost a customer over Being Right & Arrogant. Has a Retired Detective, let me lay out their "scheme & Design" to rip you off - They don't have fixed rates so they make up prices - They get you last return so they know how much you made and what you paid - They call a few times to ask a question, so they raise their "billable hours". Mrs Rohmer was big on telling me they called several times to get a better return. Had I known I was being charged for each call I would not have answered - Trust is important when someone does you taxes. This place is untrustworthy IMO. They act like they want a percentage of what they save, like they are doing some special gift & you should pay more for it. Businesses like this will cheat or make unauthorized deductions knowing that if you get audited, you have pay fees & penalty NOT them.
