John V Woodfield - Attorney At Law

This "man" is an absolute joke. He lost my paper work at least 4 times but he didn't lose that…read morecheck he was given. He did nothing and I ended up losing the right to decide what happens with my mother's estate AND he layed blame at my feet. It was given to another attorney/realtor. I honestly dont know how the drunk still has his license to practice. Cannot stress enough at how amazingly worthless he is. There is no rating low enough

(New location, same subpar service/same as on Woodfield's other profile on here)…read moreMr. Woodfield is a fraud - simply put. Our Case has been going on for well over a year, and even though he was paid and Retained on Sep. 28, 2011 - he gave us the impression we would 'have our day in Court' on Nov. 14, 2011. After traveling over 5,000 miles round-trip, and him lying about calling my wife (when he did not), the other young fresh-out-of Lawschool Lawyer got the Court date 'continued' and our trip was fully wasted. This Attorney was asleep at the wheel from Day 1, and even though giving us a favorable impression of his vast 30 plus years of experience - he needs to Retire and stop taking Clients. He did not fight passionately for us at all, we always got the impression that he was too busy with other Cases. He knew going into it that we now live over 2,400 miles away in California and he'd have to communicate with us remotely. He had the nerve to charge us 1,500 of a 2,500 total, and at least he didn't get the last 1,000 as he quit on us for bogus reasons recently. He was not even noble enough to realize he didn't truly earn the 1,500 paid to him. Even though I meticulously mailed him all the Case paperwork, he and his office bumbled everything and I don't think they mailed us one document from the opposing Attorney (a basic expectation of a Lawyer). His office did email us some documents, although they were riddled in errors. He acts like a Junior in High School, and lost all faith from us on a very emotional legal loss of custody of one of our Family members. Do not hire this Lawyer is my advice - in other words - he sucks.

This law firm came highly recommended from a local judge. I went there looking for Alex Brady and…read moreended up getting his associate. Her name is Michelle Luber. The process started off promising. I explained to her the past dealings I've had with past lawyers that were obviously just looking for a quick buck and didn't want to do any work in return. She told me that we may not win the case but we'd give it a good try (which is all I wanted). As time went on, I noticed that I wasn't getting a return on my investment. The first instance was actually at the beginning. I had to go to the office to ask for a refund because my phone calls or emails were not being returned as it pertained to my case. To my surprise, she had been working on my case, but I wasn't being notified about anything that was going on. She actually helped me win some extra visitation. I was basically getting nothing and she arranged for me to get two full weeks at the end of the summer until the first court case. When we finally got to court, the backlog was so clogged that we got thrown off the docket. That's when we took a turn for the worse. Mrs Luber was so frustrated that she could not figure out the next step. It seemed like she lost her way after that. She told me about a discovery that she would write up to send to the defendant but she never did. She then instructed me to go to the original visitation until the next court case (which was about seven months away at the earliest). In the mean time, there was no contact Mrs Luber and myself, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start writing judges, congressman/congressman, and so on. When Mrs Luber received a copy of a letter I wrote, she decided to drop me as a client. My last dealings with her was in August of 2016. I received a bill in January of 2017 stating that I still owed money. I paid the full amount as soon as I figured out some billing discrepancies with the paralegal but I can not help but feel like I've yet again been ripped off by a lawyer that does the minimum and expects to get paid.
