Oh Hi Brow. What to say what to say? I feel like i'm writing in your yearbook. First - the logistics. It's small. As in, VERY small. About the size of a large master bedroom. yea. The 'dance floor' is pretty much non existant, and hardly anyone dances anyway, so don't go there if you're feinin' to shake your moneymaker. It's dark and low class...the epitome of a dive bar. The good stuff? The drinks. They're very generous with the alcohol (you WILL get wasted, and fairly quick), and they dont try to rip you off with outrageous prices. Actually, I have to point out that their prices are VERY good (i.e: cheap). The bartenders are nice and laid back. No pressure from them. It's mainly frequented by locals - lots of CHS alum (myself included). Most people are connected to each other in some way (thru mutual friends, neighborhors, co-workers etc) and it can be intimidating for outsiders. I grew up with this bar - my older brother was a constant fixture there. So it'll always have a soft spot in my heart. read more

The good: Cheap drinks, cool bartenders (usually semi-attractive semi-older women), pool table, jukebox, dart board. Relaxed atmosphere. The bad: The smell! For years this place has had this nasty, sour, but just barely tolerable smell that you forget about once you're a couple drinks in :). For obvious reasons this isn't the place to come and meet single women. They don't come here. This place is usually a spot for locals and regulars. Sometimes we have to be careful not to judge a place based on Yelp reviews alone. I took a friend Tuesday night for drinks. We sat at the bar and I ordered my fave Lemon Drop Martini. Amy the Bartender was amazing! Not only did my Martini knock me off my feet (literally!) but she came later and added extra into my glass. If you like dive bars, I think you will like this place. My wife and I walk there once or twice a week. The kitchen is very basic but they often have specials like the excellent one dollar tacos on Tuesdays. I'm quiet, but I know most of the workers and I know a few of the regulars, so it's friendly. The beer selection is above average for a dive bar. They have one average pool table. The jukebox is very good. There are several flat screens, so the game you want to watch is always on. There's an IPA on tap and a few other decent beers besides the usual domestics. And if you're with women, make sure they check out Pandora's Box in the ladies room. Decent Dive Bar located in La Claremona (La Verne/Pomona/Claremont area). They have good prices on drinks. My Sex On The Beach was awesome. I was there on Karaoke Tuesday. It was a fun time. Service was on point. A few years ago, the crowd was mostly biker dudes. Now there's more college kids and locals. It may depend on which night you go. Ladies: The Hi-Brow is an ideal place to go if you have a group of friends with a couple of guys in the group or if you're on a date. I wouldn't choose it as a Girl's Night Out destination. I hereby formally retract my previous review. I think the first time I went here was just an off night. Every time I've been here since I have been treated with the upmost courtesy. It's cheap, and the food is surprisingly really good. On Tues. and Thurs. they have awesome $1 tacos! The burgers are huge and savory! They also have some excellent beers including Dale Bros. Pomona Queen on tap. What I enjoy about this place is that almost all the clientele are regulars, so there's never really any jackasses hanging around. Thank you to all the staff here for making this place feel like home! By the way, they have Golden Tee, Silver Strike Bowling, a pool table, darts, and a brand new, kick ass interactive jukebox! On top of all that, they'll usually change the t.v. to whatever sporting event you wish to view. I usually ask them to change it to UFC, or Pride Fighting Championships!!!! read more

Some of the happiest nights of my college career occurred in this bar. Honestly, I kinda shudder at the thought of actually having to go back there as someone who is gainfully employed and not currently drunk. However, memories like my drunken friends falling asleep on (and subsequently falling off of) the bar stools, my buddy Chris hustling other drunk people with his outrageous dart skills and flirting with the equally drunk waitress and the time there was a guy walking around in a chicken suit will forever bring a smile to my face.
