    Passion fruit fruit tea
    Bailee M.

I have an obsession with bubble tea, and I am always on the hunt to find the best one in #YEG. How I like to judge them is based on: 1. The flavor of the drink. 2. The pearls/ tapioca 3. Price 4. Service All of this will determine whether I think it's worth going back. So, let's start it off with the flavors of the drinks. Having just tried two drinks, it is safe to say that their drinks are not too bad! I ordered the passion fruit green tea and the fresh fruit strawberry milk tea with tapioca. Out of the two, I would say the fresh fruit strawberry milk tea was the best one. It had a very strong strawberry flavor that was not too sweet. The ratio of milk to strawberry was great! It was highly addictive to drink. I personally did not really enjoy the passion fruit green tea because of the passion fruit seeds that were put in with my drink. It made the texture of the drink slightly off-putting. Personal preference, I like my juices to not have pulp. The flavor itself was great though! The tapioca I thought was pretty standard, nothing overly special. From what I have received to what I have paid, I did not mind. In total, the price was about $11 for both of the drinks. With the fresh fruit strawberry milk tea being the most expensive of the two. The service was really nice. They were friendly and the staff was quick on their feet to making drinks. The decor was very aesthetically pleasing! I would totally come back to try out different fresh fruit milk tea drinks and even different menu items like the chicken!

The watermelon bubble tea I picked up for my bus ride home.

I stopped in on my way home from visiting Pet-Valu to get something to drink for my way home on the bus. The staff member that helped me out was a really nice university aged kid. I noticed him outside when I was walking in having a smoke break and he ran right in to help me without any of that attitude you sometimes get from younger people in customer service who feel your imposing on their time. I agree with other reviewers who bring up the fact that yeah the city is currently heavily saturated with Bubble Tea places but with that being said I still think these guys will be able to hold their own. My watermelon bubble tea tasted great, was a good size, and wasn't at the six dollar mark that alot of the other newer places seem to be hitting. I would definitely come back for more as well as to give their chicken a try. My only real gripe with the place was that they are a little sparse on seating. If you like bubble tea I encourage you to keep an open mind and give them a try.

    Black rice jasmine milk tea

The first thing I did when I arrived to Canada for the first time was look up a milk tea place because I'm from San Jose Ca and we have milk tea everywhere..for a 10 hour flight with 2 stops in different cities and long hours at the airport I had to get my fix of caffeine aside from the one offered as a complimentary on the airplane -.- I tried their black rice jasmine tea with lychee jelly and their sweet potato plum fries!! I definitely enjoyed the two!! I loved the seasoning on the fries!! It was slightly sweet and sour..crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Whenever I go back to Canada I for sure will drop by here and order something again! Oh but if you don't like gooey things in your drink..do not try the black rice in your milk tea haha.

    Unconventional bento

I noticed this restaurant a while ago, but the kids are not want to try anything new when they have other nearby places that they already love. So a solo mission was conceived to check this place out. Cheers Cut is apparently a chain with places across the planet, but it appears to be such in name only as the only think that notified to that was the large map with stars on the wall. The ambiance is not much to get excited about. Just a standard hole in the wall restaurant with some comfortable seats up front (lounge chairs). After passing the lounge chairs, you come to the counter; table service is apparently not something they do. The menu is on the wall, above an insanely huge piece of faux fried chicken. Think of a flattened chicken, battered and deep fried. Apparently, this is not on the menu, so I opted for a couple dishes. The menu is not deep, but they had deep fried diced beef and a choice between samurai (small) or ninja (large) chicken bento boxes. I ordered one of those along with the diced beef. 80% of the menu is made up of drinks. Primarily bubble tea and similar; I opted for a matcha bubble tea with pearls. The diced beef came on top of a bed of cabbage. It was tough, chewy and 2 of the 8 pieces barely edible. I chewed them for a few minutes, but I was essentially eating battered deep fried grisle. I asked for Korean sauce on top which tasted like sweet and sour chili sauce. But that was thinly laid and the breading tasted like it was 50% chinese five spice. Next up was my Samurai chicken bento with sichuan sauce. The bento was served all in a bowl; deep fried breaded chicken, broccoli, steamed rice, pepper, and cabbage. Again, Chinese five spice was the predominant flavour. The matcha bubble tea was decent; not much to say about it. This was a Sunday evening and I was the only sit down customer. A couple customers came in while I was eating, but otherwise, the place was empty. However, there was a lot of delivery traffic coming in to pick up orders. Despite the lack of customers, this place was loud and distracting. The phone rang often and there was music playing. If I was not alone, I think it would have been difficult to carry on a conversation.

So goood!! I had avocado smoothies and sweet Thai crispy chicken XXL!!! Both the drink and the crispy chicken are amazing!!!

Drinks were good but the service wasn't great and they mixed up our orders and took a long time. Overall, it's an okay place

Chicken was good but not the cleanest restaurant out there. The place is filthy and they even served us water with some weird pulps in it.

I ordered the Curry Beef Brisket Noodle again during my second visit because the dish left a great impression on me during my first visit. The Curry Beef Brisket Noodle is a must-try and I definitely recommend this if you are visiting this restaurant. During my first visit, I did not have the chance to try their satay skewer and I decided to order a chicken satay skewer to try. The chicken satay was good. The meat was tender and nice, and not too burnt or tough unlike some of the satay that i tried. It came with a satay dipping sauce, but the sauce was not as good as I thought. Perhaps it did not contain peanuts due to possible allergy concerns so the sauce was not as fragrant as I expected satay sauce to be. But still it was good, and the skewer wasn't too expensive as well. Great restaurant and definitely one of the hidden gems in Edmonton.

We came during opening week so even arriving in the evening close to 10pm, the space was packed. Not much to the decor. Very simple with a blue and white color scheme. Sufficient seating and staff were nice and friendly. No wait time to order, dessert came out quickly while our snack trailed along 10 minutes after. (so worth it) Pearl Milk Tea Creamy Frappe - ($9.90) - 5/5 - Part of their shaved ice series. Tasted like frozen milk tea shaved into a beautiful ribbon consistency, topped with tapioca and litchi jelly. This was SO good, really creamy, really rich, tasted exactly like milk tea. The tapioca pearls used are the smaller ones but they were nice and chewy while complimenting well with the litchi jelly that had a sweeter taste. Part of their opening promotion I'm assuming- the shaved ice was given a complimentary small milk tea. Tasted good - nothing like iced milk tea to wash down shaved milk tea. Salty Crispy Chicken - ($6.20) - 5/5 - Okay, so we know my favorite Taiwanese chicken so far in the city has been ChaTime. But I think i've got to update my new favorite to now ZenQ. The seasoning here is more salty than sweet, and the chicken coming to me hot and fresh was beautiful colorwise and exceedingly crisp. This was truly satisfying.

As a result, I was very excited to see that a new bubble tea shop was opening, right on 97 street in the heart of Chinatown no less. The Bubble Tea Café sells a variety of bubble drinks, coffees, milkshakes, and slushes. A limited menu of Asian meals and snacks is also available. The price for a bubble tea is slightly lower than I have experienced in other places. My taro bubble tea tasted exactly as I wanted - sweet and milky. On another visit, I had a chocolate milkshake. The serving size was slightly smaller than I expected, but again, it was very rich. There are a few tables in the café, and service is very friendly. If you find yourself strolling down Chinatown and crave a refreshing drink (and there are a few hot drinks available that should be perfect for our coming cold weather), definitely stop into The Bubble Tea Café.

It's a very small place, 6 or 7 tables, but it looks like a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. It was kind of neat to watch the Hong Kong shows on the TV. Would definitely be back again to try the food. I really liked it here, giving it 3.5 stars.
