A very small town that was packed to the rafters and they had a salad bar and tiny lunch buffet. Because of all the folks they had a hard time keeping food filled. Even though we had arrived a few minutes after noon the lettuce was empty, the fried fish had just a few pieces remaining and potatoes were wiped out. We could have ordered off the menu but did enjoy the food that remained. read more

I stopped here on my trip to Texas from Utah because I saw that the parking lot was fully occupied. The lunch buffet was amazing. The salad bar has a wide selection of salad items and dressings. The lettuce is actually "garden picked" fresh. The hot selection proteins were real hand-breaded chicken fried steak and fried catfish filets. The brown gravy was actually homemade. The hot selection vegetables were boiled cabbage, fried potatoes and onions, corn muffins, mac-n-cheese and pinto beans. I didn't see any breads but I'm sure they probably had those too. All of the items seemed to be made from scratch. The service is friendly and attentive. This establishment is clean. The men's washroom was spotless. This is a wonderful place true to the West Texas culture and heritage. read more

I have been going to Hickman's for 15+ years and they have consistently provided excellent food and service! Hickman's chicken fried steak or steak fingers (with a side of that delicious toast) is sure hard to beat. Anytime I'm visiting Jayton or Rotan, I always make it over to Aspermont to eat at Hickman's, because it's the comfort food I crave! And you can't leave without getting a slice of pie! read more

Wow! From the great prices, to the quality, and quantity of the food it's all in all 5 stars. This place truly felt like a home town diner. Walking into it felt like a blast from the past. Our waitress was in good spirits, outgoing, and attentive. It was quite quiet in here which didn't shock us since the town of Aspermont is comparable to Radiator Springs before Lighting McQueen made an appearance in the Disney movie "Cars." The cinnamon rolls in all seriousness are HUGE along with the Texas burger. Both are huge and tasty. We had lunch here and the hamburgers were outstanding - absolutely delicious! They have homemade pies and cinnamon rolls, too.

Ordered a cheeseburger from there and went to go eat it. There was not cheese on it and the patty was 1/4 of the burger there was basically not patty at all and the whole burger was cold and the taste was disgusting!!! I do not recommend eating there at all. Worst food ever! read more

Stopped here on our way through Aspermont for lunch. They had a buffet that included a salad bar. Many different types of homemade salads, we tested several and they were all very good. The buffet had fried catfish, chicken fried steak, cabbage, pinto beans, hominy, fried potatoes, gravy, and more. Food was delicious and reminded me of a good home cooked meal. The owners are very attentive to your needs. The decor was rustic/antique that was pretty cool. Will stop here again. read more

Broke our Keto plan as we were on our way home and knew we were running out of options as the sun began going down. This was the best place we have eaten in a very long time! It's really the only place in town but all you need. The cinnamon roll is as big as your head and the sugar comma that follows is akin to a religious experience. The only thing sweeter than the tea is the waitress who is open to a hometown hug with the right tip. Little known factoid: Texas Toast was invented by Gladys Hickman, the great, great, great grandmother of the current owner. As soon as you enter you'll be greeted with "Come on in Ya'll" and it only gets better from there. read more

If you're up this way, plan a stop for lunch! We just had a very satisfying traditional lunch! Hamburger steak with onion gravy, chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, fried squash with a bread basket of yeast rolls and cornbread. It even included the salad bar and a piece of cake for dessert, all for $7.50! We did not indulge in the enormous dinner plate sized cinnamon rolls strategically placed next to the salad bar but man I'll bet they are amazing! read more

Love this down-home restaurant! I have eaten there several times when I was in the Aspermont area. We had the pleasure of eating there last Friday (03/29/2019). We had Cheeseburgers for lunch and went back later with a larger party for the fried catfish buffet. Both meals were excellent! The cheeseburgers were homemade and just right in proportions. The catfish was thin and crisp with hush puppies, green beans, fried okra, and apple cobbler for dessert! There were other options but that was enough for me! The service was very friendly and efficient. I will go back whenever I'm in the area! Highly recommend!! read more
