I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. My food was not satisfactory, so I politely brought it to my server's attention. Instead of trying to help, she responded with, "What do you expect me to do about this?" which was both dismissive and unprofessional. I then asked to speak with a manager. After waiting 30 minutes with no response, I had to ask another server for assistance. I waited an additional 30 minutes, and still no manager came to the table. At that point, I had to go inside myself just to get someone's attention. When the manager finally came out, she offered no real apology and simply said that I wasn't the only customer in the restaurant, which is why it took so long. That response showed a complete lack of concern for customer service. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience with poor service from both staff and management. We had another great experience at the wine shop last night. As usual, the service was great, and we just love the vibe of this place. It is a great blend of younger and more mature folks. Their limited but delicious menu is just what you need while you enjoy wine or beer. We really enjoy just going downtown and meeting friends here on the weekends. read more

Pretty good wine, great wine slushies, friendly staff and owners and nice aesthetic. However the food is insane. I ordered what the menu said was a "roasted salmon" and what I got was cold salmon in a can (priced at $26). I wanna love the place but that was just bizarre. read more

Our server, Sh, was not in any hurry to get to us as she got to others who came in after us. Seems like the regulars are given better service than the newbies. We will not be back. read more

It was beautiful Saturday so we took our daughter to Hickory Wine Shoppe. We sat in the designated outdoor seating and after 5 minutes when no one approached us, my daughand I went inside while my husband remained at the table. Assuming we must order our drinks inside and carry them outside to the seating area. Once inside we were told that there are servers outside and we needed to order from a server. So.... we went back outside. Waited another 5-10 minutes and we could see 2 different servers but neither ever approached our table. We went back inside and explained to the bartender that no one has serviced our table in the 15 minutes we had been there and we would like to order inside and carry it outside. She let us do that and the entire time we were there- 45 minutes a server NEVER approached our table. We won't be back. We will take our money where it is appreciated. read more

The best wine shop around ! I'm not exaggerating. The owners are wonderful! I just moved in the area an hickory wine shop has treated me like I am a member of their families. They have a wonderful selection of red wine but for the sweet wine lovers like my self the moscato selection is out of this world . The music on the Friday and Saturday is a great compliment to the vibe of the wine shop . Me and my boyfriend loved this place!!! It was one of the best experiences I've had in downtown Hickory. It was so classy but reasonably priced, the atmosphere was perfect, and both the waiters and waitresses were so welcoming and helpful. This is the BEST place to get a drink in Hickory. They have beautiful outdoor seating right on the downtown mall area. The staff are the best, and all are very friendly and accommodating, opening your beer and often filling your glass, as well as bringing you a new cold beer if you're sitting outside. This is a place where you walk in, and there are two upright coolers filled with very good beers and frosted mugs. To the left and the back are racks of assorted wines to choose from. They have a good local selection as well as a worldly selection. They do close a bit early, around 7 PM, but luckily the Tap Room bar is just down the way. read more

Went to the bathroom (just like we had 2 times before) left a phone on the table , along with our to go box, and when we came out the entire table was moved. We spent a great deal of time there with excellent service for the first 30-45 minutes, but to come out of the bathroom and see your entire table gone was definitely a shock. And the explanation we got was "I'm not sure why that happened" was unacceptable. read more

The owner of this place made me a believer in red wine. He recommended a red Cabernet Sauvignon called matthiasson village and I fell in love, we also ordered a rose (vanderpump rose) it was very good Additionally the food is amazingly well paired with wine, we got two different flatbreads a cheese board and pimento cheese dip we finished every bit of our wine and food. I rate this place ten stars but they only will allow five. Thank you to the owner and server I had that made our evening unforgettable. read more

Wow, this place is amazing! One of the coolest places in hickory. There are a wide variety of wines with a couple self pour stations so you can try some higher end wines. The place is beautiful! I love this place. The staff is very friendly and helpful when picking wine. The prices are reasonable. You can buy a bottle to take home or stay there and enjoy the bottle (after paying a corking fee). They also have a large beer selection. The only thing I have had there to eat is their cheese plate (delicious) and their sushi (delicious, but only available Friday and Saturday nights). I wouldn't come here for a full meal, but I usually go here pre-dinner. Always have a good time at this place, but maybe that because I always get drunk. Cheers. read more

Sit out side and sip a glass of wine. It's about as close as we in Hickory can get to sitting at a European cafe. My only quibble is: why the extra P and E on the sign? Is that supposed to make it fancier? I feel like if you spell "shop" that way, you also have to have "ye olde" on your sign. read more

My husband and I have been here several times and we really enjoy the atmosphere here. They have a great bar indoors and outdoor seating that is dog friendly. They even provide blankets in the cooler months to use in the evenings. Their selection is amazing and they are great at making recommendations on beer and wine when you don't know what you like or want to expand your palette. I love their cheese tray as well.
