    The Firefighter (fried chicken sandwich)
    Gerard Y.

I decided to get their spicy version of a fried chicken sandwich called The Firefighter. The counter to order the food is towards the back of the bar. The sriracha sauce plus the jalapeno really made this sandwich pretty spicy. While the chicken was big and juicy, it still was a little too much breading.

Holey Moley. Could use more guacamole and crisper bacon.

I was so excited to find a place in SF that serves a bacon, jalapeno, guacamole burger. But it's still not the perfect spot. Located inside the Recovery Room, there's a few large tables if you want to bring a group. You order at the very back, but the menu on the tables have more items than the large menu next to where you'd order. I got the Holey Moley burger, The Firefighter chicken sandwich, small fries, and a side of garlic aioli. Burger patty was a huge juicy puck. Chicken was super tender. And the fries were nicely crisp. Only problem was everything was so bland! It's crazy to say that my favorite items of the night were the pickled jalapenos, ketchup, and music. I also wished that the buns were toasted. And was also super excited to try the aioli since someone mentioned it being super garlicky, but it was just bland mayo. It has potential, but it was a let down tonight.

    THE BLUES burger

Found this spot by searching for "best burgers near me" and after reading reviews, decided to check it out. My husband knew the bar as the former Pissed Off Pete's and Alex's Other Place and it hasn't changed much. Typical dive bar with TV's and a three high boy tables. You go to the back to order at The Hidden Spot off a wall menu. Opened two weeks ago, this is the fourth spot the chef/owner has opened. They use super fresh ingredients and serve large portions, with a tendency toward the spicy. Husband ordered the Gem hot sandwich on sourdough with chopped ribeye, grilled mushroom and onion, melted Muenster and Provolone cheese and hidden sauce (aioli) ($15). Wrapped in butcher paper, he said the sandwich was better than the Cheesesteak Shop. I had the Waygu half pound beef burger ($17) served on a Brioche bun - ordered the "Blues" burger with Provolone Cheese, Chunky Blue Cheese, grilled onion, lettuce and tomato with hidden sauce on the side. I could only eat half, it was super juicy and delish. I ordered it medium rare but it was more like medium, but still good. For the sides, we ordered small seasoned fries ($7) and a small hottie totties (tater tots) with dried chili blend, siracha and green onions on top ($8). The tots were delicious. The bar where you eat wasn't my style with loud rap music and a barfly clientele. (Too bad they couldn't separate the food from the bar, lol). Overall, the food was so tasty that we'd come back.

    Kitchen burger.... So juicy!

I was looking for a new burger joint to try and came across this place. Ordered the kitchen burger and it did not disappoint at all! The burger definitely hit the spot. The bun was nice and soft, not dry. The patty had me wiping my mouth with ever bite. You have to try it. So good!! I saw they had wings and sandwiches on their menu too. I will try the next time I come and let you all know the verdict.

Great service and fast, hot food. Will definitely come back and try all the different menu items

    THE HOLY MOLEY

Was really craving a burger and saw this place is highly recommended. I ordered a holy moley burger with the patty medium rare to be delivered. Got it still nice and warm, and the burger patty was cooked perfectly. A bit messy to eat but what burger that's worth the calories isn't? So delicious and filling, I'd pay the price for it again!

    Firefighter

Located inside of Hidden Spot bar. Ordered the Firefighter, spiciest level they had. Not overly spicy at all (for a spice connoisseur). Good bun, good slaw, tomtato just right too. Chicken was very crispy crunch outside and juicy breast meat. Took awhile to get to the table, mind you it's a bar kitchen. But overly solid chicken sandwich.

The rustic/home style decor was very welcoming and it seemed that a lot of the folks knew the cashiers/barista! Some people even stopped by just to say hi and welcome back the barista that was on leave for a bit. I forget his name, but he was a lovely person to chat with! I ordered a Breakfast Burrito with Carne Asada ($12) and an iced latte with Oat Milk ($6). It took ~15-20 for my burrito but the latte came out within five minutes and was made fresh with Portrero Trade Operations coffee beans! While waiting, I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans with flavor notes that were so unique- "cola, tomato, and herbaceous". For $25 you get a whole pound of coffee beans, which most only offer 12oz now. Get a bag while you can! The breakfast burrito was served with one green and one red salsa plus a small bag of chips. The burrito was decently sized and very juicy. I was a bit sad to see that the cheese wasn't melted inside, but the fresh pico de gallo inside totally made up for it. The carne asada had a great bite to it and everything was seasoned well. The salsa verde was absolutely stunning. Not too acidic and just the right amount of spice to go with my burrito. I ordered for takeout, but next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to consider dining in for the full experience.

I had enchiladas for my entree. They somehow reminded me of a great lasagna, but they were just OK as enchiladas. The ambiance is nice enough to warrant a return visit, but I'm not rushing to come back. Related: they only serve beer and wine so there's that

My partner and I ended up getting the margarita pitcher deal that came with 50 wings... (Hear me out). We got pretty tipsy off of the pitcher because the bartender put in a lot of tequila. So it's definitely worth it. We ate as much wings as we could, and saved the rest in our own Tupperware. There was a sign at the bar telling patrons that you couldn't take out any leftovers, but when we spoke to the bartender, he told us that Tupperware would be extra charge so we were lucky that we brought our own at that time. Now, the wings: Some of them were pretty dry. I'm assuming the bar would cook them before the happy hour rush and then they would reheat them with the sauces that people ordered. My partner, and I tried the buffalo, lemon pepper, teriyaki, and mango habanero. The mango habanero was spicy and sweet. I think that was our favorite. I was a little disappointed with the lemon pepper because it was really salty. And the other two were pretty mid. The staff was really nice. The vibes were pretty nice. We were early to the happy hour so there wasn't that much people and we also sat outside in the back patio, which was pretty cool. I could definitely see this bar being a very popular spot. I think if you come here with a big group of people and get the margarita pitcher with the 50 wings, it's a pretty good deal splitting it out with your friends. They have other deals as well where you would get a certain number of wings if you ordered a beer or a beer pitcher, etc. We just wanted to get as many wings as possible and get tipsy lol. I recommend this spot if you're meeting up with friends or had a long day at work.

And the chicken meat inside didn't seem marinated and tasted bland. It probably would be better if they added lemon juice after it was cooked or had given us some lemons to squeeze over the chicken before we dug in. 3.5/5 MANGO HABANERO CHICKEN WINGS ~ the sauce was spicy and tangy sweet, but it doesn't seem like they marinate their wings. It's only the sauce that gives the chicken flavor. 3.5/5 The wings aren't at all crispy. And flavor was ok and could have been better. But what was off-putting was the smell of the wings after we boxed it up and took it home! It had this gamey chicken smell as if it was old chicken. At least none of us got sick, but I'll think twice about revisiting.
