Was lured here by photos of their fries on yelp and they didn't disappoint. It was interesting because the "restaurant" is located at the back area of The Recovery Room bar. What a great spot, also hidden so we had no idea it existed until we searched for burgers. I had the Hype which was delicious-shredded chicken, a few yummy sauces, cheese and all the fixins on a Dutch crunch roll. All those toasted sandwiches you've ever had don't even begin to compete. I decided to get their spicy version of a fried chicken sandwich called The Firefighter. The counter to order the food is towards the back of the bar. I was so excited to find a place in SF that serves a bacon, jalapeno, guacamole burger. But it's still not the perfect spot. Located inside the Recovery Room, there's a few large tables if you want to bring a group. You order at the very back, but the menu on the tables have more items than the large menu next to where you'd order. I got the Holey Moley burger, The Firefighter chicken sandwich, small fries, and a side of garlic aioli. Burger patty was a huge juicy puck. Chicken was super tender. And the fries were nicely crisp. Only problem was everything was so bland! It's crazy to say that my favorite items of the night were the pickled jalapenos, ketchup, and music. I also wished that the buns were toasted. And was also super excited to try the aioli since someone mentioned it being super garlicky, but it was just bland mayo. It has potential, but it was a let down tonight. read more

My husband knew the bar as the former Pissed Off Pete's and Alex's Other Place and it hasn't changed much. Typical dive bar with TV's and a three high boy tables. You go to the back to order at The Hidden Spot off a wall menu. Opened two weeks ago, this is the fourth spot the chef/owner has opened. They use super fresh ingredients and serve large portions, with a tendency toward the spicy. Husband ordered the Gem hot sandwich on sourdough with chopped ribeye, grilled mushroom and onion, melted Muenster and Provolone cheese and hidden sauce (aioli) ($15). Wrapped in butcher paper, he said the sandwich was better than the Cheesesteak Shop. I had the Waygu half pound beef burger ($17) served on a Brioche bun - ordered the "Blues" burger with Provolone Cheese, Chunky Blue Cheese, grilled onion, lettuce and tomato with hidden sauce on the side. I could only eat half, it was super juicy and delish. I ordered it medium rare but it was more like medium, but still good. For the sides, we ordered small seasoned fries ($7) and a small hottie totties (tater tots) with dried chili blend, siracha and green onions on top ($8). The tots were delicious. The bar where you eat wasn't my style with loud rap music and a barfly clientele. (Too bad they couldn't separate the food from the bar, lol). I was looking for a new burger joint to try and came across this place. Ordered the kitchen burger and it did not disappoint at all! The burger definitely hit the spot. Jesus Christ, everyone else's super positive review clearly shows they've never had a wagyu burger before lol. I got this food delivered. This was the toughest meatiest "wagyu" party I've had. You 100% would not be able to tell the difference between this patty and any other of same thickness, gonna guess this one is 80/20. Most true wagyu burgers I've had were on the greasy side and easily fall apart under pressure. The meat was pretty bland. I also asked for Swiss cheese and they still gave me American. The buns they use is a LOT. Every bite was a struggle mainly due to how thick the buns were. The fries are really solid. I liked them a lot. Truly a saving grace, would consider this place again for the fries alone. I'm sure the bar scene is great. Just expect a very standard gourmet burger. read more

This burger spot is located at the back of a bar (Recovery Room), so you will have to be 21+ to order. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 Original burgers and with a side of large tater tots, and we could barely finish our meal. The burger was so large that the box holding it couldn't completely close; they had to tie it with a rubber band for us. I can definitely see myself coming back and ordering a beer and burger at Recovery Room and Hidden Spot. It's a great, chill place to have dinner and drinks with friends. Very quick and friendly service with a full bar and equally friendly bartenders to match. The kitchen is separate from the bar so you have to order directly from the kitchen. My buddy and I are on a quest to find the best burger in the bay area. We have tried many at this point, in Oakland, San Francisco, Emeryville, and other locations. This place by far has had the best burger we have tasted. The Sunday Morning burger was incredible, such a weird combination of flavors that went together perfectly. Eeehhh... SSF is better... Maybe they had an off night... This was my first time ordering from this location and it was very disappointing... I'd even go with 2.5 stars... Got my usual the Firefighter. It was over cooked and dry... way more breading then chicken and much smaller portion then the SSF one. Spice was a little off (might be a bit better here-spicier) but the sauce I asked for (paid extra) was not the same at all... it was watery and had no flavor... I've been to other locations and this place seems to have consistency throughout all their locations. You can never go wrong with any of their burgers! This is it guys. Fans of mine know that I LOVE CHICKEN from my other reviews, and this is no acceptation. I came during their Mega Chicken Legends event last week and was not disappointed! As part of their event they cooked chicken into the shape of swords and fought you with it, if you won, it was free! I didn't win but I still bought it and it was delicious! As Brent D said in his review it does seem a bit sussy being in the back of a bar, you might think you'll find Walter White cooking up his specialty chicken if you know what I mean, but nope! Just a great chicken place! Service was great, they comforted me when I broke down about my divorce and even gave me 2% off the final bill. I also got embarrassed about chickening out from the SPICE at the Mexican restaurant, Angel took me to, so I bought the FIREFIGHTER, the SPICIEST THING THEY HAVE! Was great, very spicy, their bathrooms are also nice and have plenty of high quality toilet paper, which you will need if you are to buy and eat the FIREFIGHTER. It was almost as spicy as my ex wife, who is holding onto them kids tight in court. We stopped in here simply based on reviews. What we walked into was not what we were expecting, but we were pleasantly surprised. We wanted to catch the end of Monday night football and have a good meal. We checked both boxes. A couple of us got the "gem" sandwich and the others got a burger. Hidden inside recovery room is Hidden Spot! Although they have multiple locations, I would have to say this is my favorite one. They are fast and efficient, I didn't have to wait for my food (could be because they just opened). I had the classic Burger along with a side of tots. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in months. Super generous portions and great customer service. FYI I've tried half their menu at the other locations and I love the fact they are consistent across the board. One of the most amazing sandwich place you must try. The cheesesteak, chicken sandwich, and wings are a must. They have the hidden sauce (secret sauce) that makes it taste delicious. It doesn't get soggy even when I order extra to-go even with me living 45/50 mins away. My son loves the wings here. This spot is my go to when I am in the area. Totally worth the price. They keep everything nice and clean including the bathroom.. everyone was very friendly and attentive. Now, to talk about the grub.. the hamburgers are so dammm good.. you wanna slap the person next to you cause your so damm happy to finally eat a good azz quality burger bursting with flava..my hun and grandson loved their burgers..its REAL BEEF!
