I had the pleasure of attending a wedding as a bridesmaid. The space was beautiful and spacious. The china on the lower level in casing was beautiful and the colors chosen have a very old home comfort feel. Takes you back a bit to another time. Lighting for images is great here and there is a handicap parking close to the ramps which make entry and exits very easy. They offer recycling and trash in their kitchen. The staff on site was very informative and kind. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The videos and photos we took look beautiful!!! I'd like to personally thank Tarrywile for everything!!

The parking lot can fit about six, eight cars and is accessible to the water. We walked about forty five minutes down the trail, until the humans decided it had been enough for the little paws accompanying us (even though he would have gone until he collapsed). The trail is gentle, not too many inclines and they're not very steep. It seems mostly shaded by trees on each side, but don't let that stop you from using sunscreen. It's a narrow path so if someone is coming, the polite (and in the case of my hiking companions, the dumb) will walk on the side in the taller, tick inhabited grass. I wish it had points of interest signed, like the foundation we passed about five minutes from the entrance. What was there, and where did it go? Other than great, a great place to bring the dog and walk in peace!

The AT covers 2.8 miles inside the park, which I traveled most of the time, from the red trail intersection until the AT meets with the yellow (traveling north). Some fallen trees are located along the way. It overlaps the Yellow and Red Trail further north until the Red and AT branches off from the Yellow to the left. At this point, the AT and RED overlap. There are decent views along the way looking east towards Connecticut. Eventually, the red branches to the right and the AT continues straight, exiting PNR. The views are still visible. This section covers many hills, thankfully not too steep. I still found trees knocked over. The furthest I made it was past Leather Hill Road, and I turned around. I enjoyed this section, and there's a lot more to explore. It would be nice to see some maintenance done.

Sadly, not being much of a hiker myself, I only lasted like 20 minutes because it decided to snowstorm in the middle of May. Yep, pure craziness! Also, I got distracted with the milk cows that just hang out. I mean, I see an animal and I MUST approach animal. She wanted to social distance but I refused! She said "mooooov-it" and I ended up having to go before I upset this cute friendly cow. Awesome trail that you can go either for an easy walk or get more deep in there. Can't wait to actually explore more and enjoy these views. It's even a great spot for photos on your phone or camera. Just a great spot in general to come to for a little walk. You can climb over the electric fences with the little stairs they have, just be careful. Oh, and if you're scared of cows, don't worry, they won't bother you if you don't bother them. Parking situation: you can pull over on the side carefully and park there!

Lots of college students throughout the park from nearby Quinnipiac University. There are plenty of open space, picnic tables and trails for everyone to enjoy. Lots of different trail options but the tower trail is the most popular. Not much shade on the tower trail and a fairly decent elevation change in a short distance. Make sure to check the weather and bring water. Beautiful views from the highest point in the park and you can go inside the tower.

These people are crooks. I'm a well-known freelance foraging expert. I led pubic tours on the…read moregrounds from 2008 to 2019, when a new events director, Celine Currier, took over. A true Stacey, she arbitrarily directed me to lead my tour on shady trails, where edible wild plants, which need sunlight, don't grow. My 13-year-old foraging expert daughter scouted out the shady trails in advance and verified this. Feeling responsible to the participants, I led the tour in sunny places, where we found plenty of plants, despite Currier's arbitrary and wrong-headed objections. Nevertheless, Currier hired me and my daughter to lead a mushroom weekend in 2017. She signed a contract, including a statement that if she canceled the event, we'd be paid in full. Then, when it was way too late for me to schedule other events, she pulled the rug out for under me, canceled our event, and hired someone else to do the mushroom weekend, despite the signed contract, causing us to lose a much-needed weekend of work. When I tried to contact her dad, Tim Currier, the owner, with whom I'd been acquainted since 2008, he showed his true colors and ghosted me. Through a laborious process, I took the farm to small claims court. The trial occurred remotely during the Covid lock-down. No one from the farm showed. I won, and they had to pay me after all. Be warned: These people are crooks, and will skunk you if they can get away with it.

The showers are clean and the water is just right. Every day the camp site workers come by to keep everything nice and neat. Definitely a place to return to in the future, we paid $77 for 4 days, 6 people, 2 tents & 2 vehicles.... you can't beat that for a great outdoors experience with the family.

We got a full tour of the house that sits on the property. They have many great programs and training. You can hike with a group or by yourself. This is one of those places that I'm selfishly reluctant to review because it's so perfect just the…read moreway it is. There are never too, too many people here even at its most crowded. But Deer Pond (operated by the CT Audubon Society) has brought us so much joy that I feel compelled to share it with others: This preserve is a great treasure. The property is expansive, with hiking trails that meander over the CT border into NY over varied terrain. Some trails are rocky and need careful navigation. Other trails are well mulched and soft, good for trail running. There are trails that run through meadows; most others are through woods, well shielded from the sun. It is beautifully maintained and they host a variety of programs for adults (and a few for children), which we so far haven't checked out. We joined the CT Audubon Society as a result of our wonderful experiences, here. I still can't identify more than three birds or so (bluejays, robins, and those ground birds with the furry tails called squirrels) but maybe that will eventually change. For now, we just enjoy sharing the same space!

Lake Waramaug State Park has so much to offer, whether it be camping, fishing, swimming, renting a…read morekayak, boating, having a picnic, or just to take in the beautiful views. I came here for kayaking. This beautiful, scenic lake is clean, and circling the lake is an enjoyable 9-mile paddle. From the water, you can take in the scenic hills that surround the lake, or view some of the waterfront gorgeous homes. This state park is well worth checking out.
