We phoned ahead from Mizen Head and found that there was space for our tent at the Hide Away, so we motored on to Skib.
Met by the lovely lady, she thoughtfully said to pitch up in the third and last tent area. It was kid free, she explained. The first two tent areas were family friendly. Perfect, everyone wins.
The site is a caravan park and a campsite. And it gets both aspects spot on.
The facilities are second to none. I really liked how the sinks in the ladies had an abundance of hooks at the front. Good thinking and great attention to detail. And they pipe in the radio here, so you're not gonna be bored brushing your teeth.
Showers are 1 EUR for five minutes. The block is unisex, but cubicles are quite private. Clean too. The water was plenty hot as well.
There was also a playground, which the kids were making great use of. And there was a games room too. I didn't check that out, nor the shared kitchen. But if they're anything like the shower and toilet block, I'd say they're most likely top notch.
At the end of the site is a pleasant stream which trickles by with a nice sound.
Highly recommend if you're caravaning or camping your way around Ireland. read more
