This place is so peaceful! Really nice gal checked me in, and even gave me a little tour. Our dog was only $10 a night, pretty cheap. We had the cheaper economy room since it was just my boyfriend and I and our dog...I think it's about 233 square feet. It was perfect! They have a mini fridge and dishes, microwave and coffee pot and our fri to Sunday stay with our pup was only about $250. We ate lunch by the water Saturday afternoon and were the only ones outside. We also went swimming and had the pool to ourselves about 4 pm Saturday. Such a change from most places! Everyone we ran into was really nice too. There's even a large grassy place to take your pet, and they have poop bags hanging on the fence if needed. We would love to return! read more

What a great find! Prices are reasonable, you get everything you need and more, it's clean and the people working there are super friendly. We needed to plan a surprise road trip for my son to see and spend time with one of his best friends that was passing through on a military move. We wanted a hotel close to where they (the other family) would be staying and needed a suite...2 rooms so we could all have our privacy. Most hotels are far away from where we needed/wanted to be. Plus, if you need or want a suite it normally cost a small fortune. Not to mention we didn't want to be in a touristy area since we weren't there for that reason. Well...Jackpot! This place is located (for the lack of a better term) in a neighborhood. It is quiet and away from the riff-raff. It was a great location to us. It is dated, or older rather, but please don't let that sway you. The rooms are super clean and have so much to offer. Not only did we get 2 rooms, but we got two TV's, a wonderful fully supplied kitchen and if you need anything else...just ask! We didn't use the kitchen area, but it's fully stocked with everything you need (dishes, flatware, pots, glasses, etc.) and for long-term stays this would be great! We were very happy that we could have the privacy of the bedroom while our son could visit with his friend in the living room. Perfect! There is a pool with more than ample seating and umbrellas. In addition, the hotel is on the water in back with an amazing dock and seating area on the water to just hang out and relax. There is a corn hole area and a BBQ available as well. If you go to their website to make a reservation there is a statement to call since you may qualify for a discount. That said, they do give a military discount, but they give several others...be sure to give them a call if you wish to book. If I had a con at all it would be that slats were missing in the living room blind and couldn't have full privacy, nor block out the light for the morning hours and the lights outside at night. But it's certainly doesn't warrant marking it down a star...just a note for you! Note: although you are in a neighborhood...nothing is too far. There is a Publix less than a mile away for instance along with restaurants and a few shops. In the opposite direction in just over a mile is a McDonald's and Perkins to name a few. It's quiet, it's quaint, it's away from the crowds, the prices are nice, it has everything you need and more...it's perfect! I highly recommend and would be more than happy to stay here again. read more

Resort? Um NO....lotel motel!! Arrived yesterday it had been lightning there hours before so pool remained closed. Fine, the boys went out back and jumped in the canal off the dock. FYI no posted signs! The front desk told me some alligators are in there so told them to get out soon after. FYI we go to lakes and rivers all the time. So basically it's "at your own risk!!" So after we just ordered food in and hung out. Scenario 3 -13 yo boys bored so yes when I was inside they jumped the pool fence and took a quick dip! Not their finest moment with the decision making. I understand that that's a bad call. Meanwhile, everyone around us is smoking pot right outside and literally got a contact high! My boy plays travel baseball and we travel a lot! Most hotels are very considerate to them. We arrive back after a very long day of baseball to letter from the manager who apparently isn't even in town! That I feel is very unprofessional. The room at best is gross the oven has mold on it. The beds are a rock, the water has zero pressure! Save your $ or spend more and go to a quality hotel. To be clear, this is a motel and not a resort. Its very small and the neighborhood that it is located in seems to be a nice one. However, the motel itself is in needed of updating and repairs...big time. Prices are cheap. Pets are welcome. Walking up to this place, I honestly felt uneasy. We walked to our room while a couple of men stared at us, with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths. Its not just dated...upon entering, I realized it has a wall ac unit in the kitchen and then a stand-alone unit in one bedroom. These were both very loud and did not cool the rooms down. While it made noise, I do not think the wall unit actually worked as the temperature never actually went down despite it being on 24/7. It stayed warm enough that my dog was consistently panting and I had to pour water on her to cool her off. (it was summer) It didn't help that the only window in the bedroom was broken and could not be shut. Nor could the bathroom window. The bathroom was very hot...and thats coming from someone who loves the heat. One window had cracked glass as well. The pull out sofa was the worst I have ever seen--the was simply no way anyone could sleep on that. It was incredibly flat and gross looking and when we pulled it out...a couple of broken slats fell out onto the floor. While its labeled as being "fully stocked," I would say it was minimally stocked with plates, cups, cookware. It was just enough to get back, with some dish washing during the day. A couple of light switches did not work. Our coffee maker still had coffee in it and the filter was molded. When we went to the back area, there was a massive swarm of flies all over the garbage and some dead fish. Its a shame because this area would be very beautiful. The desk is huge, lots of seating (even a hammock), and a grill was available. It all overlooks the water. Its quite peaceful and laid back, in that way. In the front of the motel, they have a very warm pool. It was a very nice one and we honestly had a good time in it. They even had floaties and pool toys available. The first night, a couple under us fought and fought. We're talking screaming, throwing things, and so forth. It went on for hours. We found out (from another guest) that this had happened the previous night as well and that the couple lived there permanently. It did not make us feel safe as we wondered how far they might take things. (the sound came through our broken windows and to the outside back area as well so we were trying to relax some while hearing all that) I honestly felt that maybe we NEEDED to find a different place to stay, for safety's sake. That being said, the next day was better. We played in the pool all day and that couple stopped fighting. The following day was similar. This could be a neat place that is located in a neat neighborhood. However, the major need for repairs and the concerns with safety are a major downfall as well as it simply being far too hot inside the units. Its honestly a pity. I personally can stay somewhere that is dated but I do expect to feel safe and to have things working and in order. I did not feel emotionally or physically comfortable here and would not stay again. I am giving two stars because of the pool and potential. I would stay in this neighborhood again. It was nice always being near the water. It seemed like Hideaway was the sourest part of the area, sadly. I hope they will change things. read more

I was quite disappointed in this "resort". While it has possibilities being on the water with some nice outdoor space, it feels very dated and uncared for. I was told they had bikes to ride and fishing poles, which I was excited about. Bikes are rusty and all men's style, so that was out. The fishing poles!?!?!? There were two cheap poles with tangled up lines, no hooks, no lures...just an empty and very dirty tackle box. In addition the sheets on the beds are very low quality and the TV is 24" blurry tube TV. I paid over 100 for this hotel on Hotels.com....bummer. read more

In this world, you get what you pay for, and shouldn't expect much more or less. I showed up to the Hideaway at 10 PM, having just lost my wallet. Thankfully they had my card on file from my reservation and gave my cc # so I could order pizza. Linda was very kind in dealing with me in my distraught condition. The hotel felt like a resort despite not being posh, also because I woke up every morning to 40's tunes playing on the pool deck. The grounds are carefully manicured and this place is cared for. I also see that they respond to their tripadvisor reviews which highlights a major difference between a family run operation and a fascist operation. The end. read more

My parents were planning a last-minute visit from Michigan with their dog, but were looking for a comfortable "home away from home" where they could hunker down and relax. After reading overwhelmingly positive reviews for Hideaway on TripAdvisor and watching the tour of the facility on the hotel's website (bottom-right box on http://www.hideawayflorida.com/), they booked the only room left. They stayed for about a week in early March 2015. I loved visiting them there--the room and the grounds are well-kept, clean, charming and very reflective of the area in decor and attitude (laid-back, relaxed, nautical/beachy without being pretentious). The hotel is on a canal and has a large deck in back with several tables and chairs next to the water--some of them covered with a "tiki hut"--an open grill, and hammock strung between two palm trees. In front, it has a secluded (with foliage) heated pool with lounge chairs; there is always a nearby radio playing in the pool area whenever it is open. Despite this, the hotel seemed to be quiet and relaxing, not a "partying hotspot" for spring breakers. Their room was an economy, but still had adorable decor mirroring the theme of the hotel. Although it was equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, table and chairs, and queen bed, I think would be ideal for a single traveler with or without a pet (not a couple or family). If you're unfamiliar with the area, it's within walking distance of some of the best restaurants and shopping in the city just south of the hotel on Cape Coral Parkway, so the relative location is also great! My parents have already booked two more stays for upcoming visits in suites, so perhaps we'll see you there! read more

Sounds like a nice place on the internet but once you get there, not so much! Filthy rooms with noisy ac units and appliances that don't work! The bed was fine, but the pillows were old, smelly and as flat as a pancake! We pulled out the filthy old couch to also use as a bed and it was held up by ply wood with a skinny mattress on top! The linens were filthy and full of bugs, we ended up with bug bites! If you stay here, bring your own pillows, linens and keep your suitcase closed so you don't end up bringing the bugs home! Here's the kicker, once you end up paying there's ZERO help to remedy your situation besides leaving a bad review here! We had 2 nights booked and left early the next morning! The only thing good about this property is the large back patio that overlooks the canal, otherwise the landscaping is cigarette butts, left over Christmas bulbs, rusty fishing poles and a not very compromising staff! Good luck if you stay here as there are plenty of other clean places on the waterfront in this area! The rest of our vacation was enjoyed in a clean hotel and we stayed an extra day with them! read more

My family and I stayed here over this past weekend and we really enjoyed the experience. It was very different from the feeling of a chain and my eight year old actually commented he liked this hotel best of any we have stayed in becuse he felt like a part of nature. What we liked most is that we could use the kayaks, bikes, paddle boat, fishing rods and pools for free. They have nice back patio area where you can also bar b q. The room we stayed in had a double bed and pull out couch. It was a one bedroom with a big liing room and kitchen. I can envision staying there a week and having groceries and cooking right there. This place would get 5 stars but the beds were on the hard side...fine, but not the most comfortable I've slept in and the price was a tad high although comparable with the hotels in the area. I paid $130 a night with taxes. I really enjoyed feeling like a part of the family there. The owners are very nice. read more

Nice pool area at the front & at the back of the building was a nice dock area with a little sandy area you can lounge on. We had a quiet few nights stay here , peaceful location . You could take dogs , which attracted us to the place, our room was clean and tidy , and not smelly after other dogs, which I was concerned about. Wow, was I fooled. Watched their promotional video and thought "how nice"! Was greeted in a tiny office and was asked to wait outside while the attendant checked to see if the room was ready. A resort? Really! A dismal small office, no introduction to the facilities, which are 2* spartan. Paint in room worn bare in spots, a sneaky step in bathroom, looks like zoning made a mistake when they allowed commercial in this mostly lower middle class area. We have had a great time here! My husband and I are newlyweds and we came here for a honeymoon experience that was different than the usual. We couldn't have picked a better place!! We spent most of our idle time fishing under the tiki huts enjoying the Florida nighttime. While there were other people staying in the hotel, we hardly ever saw them and the entire canal was quiet the whole week. The owners were very friendly and they helped us out with everything we needed. Free kayaks were an added bonus. The rooms are big, comfortable, and clean. Highly recommend!! read more

My family and I have stayed at least a half dozen times at this quaint locally owned place. We recently stayed here at the end of March 2015. Not only is it clean and family friendly but it is also pet friendly. The owners Mark and Linda make us feel so welcome everytime we visit. The rooms or suites have full kitchens and a view of the jetty. Outdoors, you will find plenty to do as the hotel has a nice pool, kayaks, a paddle boat and even a "Floatel Room," which is a boat that is rented out as a room. You can go fishing at the jetty, hang out or even spend the day at Sanibel Island or Fort Myers Beach. This is truly one of the frontiers of Old Florida and if you like Old Florida style, you will love this hotel. read more

The owners of the hideaway are what makes it worth staying here. Rather than stay at a chain hotel, we stayed here because the owners were very accommodating. We were relocating from Boston and we had a U-haul with a car trailer and a cat and it was becoming impossible to find a place that would have room for us to park and not charge $100 a night for our cat. The owners were very helpful and competent. I really enjoyed our stay, except the bed was very uncomfortable so I would not recommend this place for someone who has back issues. read more

This place is amazing for the price!!! The rooms are a bit dated but,The owners are on-site. The place is clean and neat. There's a wonderful pool and an amazing deck on the canal. We were here for two nights and enjoyed our time here. The other guests were friendly and there were kayaks available (free of charge) to use even though we didn't have time to utilize them. We are returning in December and will definitely be staying here again. You will feel right at home. I would have given them 5 stars but, it's not a Marriott. Michael the concierge greet was warmly and helped me out kindly. Got settled into the room (103) and pulled the blanket on the bed back and there was a bunch of short hairs and long hairs, particles left in the microwave and fridge. Michael moved me to a different room and this room (201) bedroom light did not work. The ac machine on the wall is loud. There was dirt in the microwave and fridge again. I woke up this morning and a lady who works here called me because they had a note saying this room was empty and saying that they inspected the room I was first in. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING AFFILIATED WITH THESE PEOPLE. This is the worst company I have ever worked for. These people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and behavior towards their tenants/staff. They do not care about anything. Upon my interview I was under the assumption I was going to be hired for full time work as I stated I needed from the very beginning. From day 1 I never got the proper training necessary. The boss left everyday for hours at a time. I was thrown into the fire and had to pretty much learn everything myself. He kept screwing with my hours and changing things around at the last minute. I have a baby and have said a numerous amount of times I couldn't have that happen as I needed time to coordinate with the sitter. They hired another agent and the schedule that was put out for me going forward was completely screwed up. My hours were constantly cut. I expressed how I felt about it his response was "I'm working on an experiment at the front desk and will change it back in a couple weeks" Doesn't make any logical sense but ok. From the time I met the owners I got a really bad impression from the guy. Not only is he rude and disrespectful but very childish. Couple examples, on one occasion I was talking to his wife on the phone and she was explaining something pertaining to the job. He comes barging in the office and said "Tell her you need to go cause I have things to do and can't wait any longer". Then, in another instance there was a problem that happened with a few customers. He wouldn't stop calling even though I told him I was busy and would call him back. As I was on the phone with him a customer walked in to pay their rent. I informed him that I had a customer and his response? "I REALLY NEED TO TALK TO YOU" Then he proceeded to ask who was paying. Words can't describe how inappropriate and unprofessional that was. He's got a lot of growing up to do that's for sure. Him and his wife will expect you to do other things outside of your job criteria. The last time I checked, I was specifically hired for front desk, not to pick weeds, do laundry, and help clean the rooms. Every time I came into my shift there were papers sprawled out all over the place. I tried my best to clean up and wipe everything down but it would go back to the same state the next day. The environment conditions were FILTHY. Everything was dusty, floors were dirty, wires were all over the place. Don't even get me started about the linen closet. Let's just say a housekeeper quit because of it being under such a bad condition. Towels/sheets thrown everywhere. Didn't know the dirty stuff from the clean. Not to mention a handful of dirty dishes had been sitting in the sink back there for who knows how long. NASTY. All I can say is if the health department made their way out there they would have a field day. As far as their off site properties go, if something goes wrong you can forget it ever being fixed. Internet not working? Not their problem. Electrical outage? Not their problem either. Every time I had to relay something to the boss he would act like he didn't give a single f*ck in the world. It's so sad and unfortunate these people are still in business and making large lumps of cash when they're never willing to go out of their way to go above and beyond for their people. They never want to take accountability for anything. While almost done working my last shift, the boss came into the office. He lingered around for quit some time then told me his parents sent him there to tell me they had to let me go because apparently one of the previous front desk agents had left due to the virus and was coming back. WHAT A CROCK OF BULLSHIT. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out they're lying and wanted to use that as the ultimate excuse to get rid of me. I was NEVER aware of anything like that from the beginning. Don't you think if that really were the case they would have told me that up front....??? They wonder why they have such a high turn over rate. Everyone leaves for the same exact reason so that should say something. I can't believe how much they've gotten away with. This place is great for the price. As everyone else has said, the owners are very accommodating. My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights to go see a couple of spring training games. We also had three dogs with us. We stayed in one of the economy rooms which included a queen size bed, small kitchenette with sink, microwave, mini fridge, and some plates and flatware. There was a small (20"?) TV above the microwave. There's also a closet which was helpful for storing suitcases, etc. The good: Great price! The room was about $85+tax, plus $5.50/dog/night. The minimal charge for the dogs was much appreciated. There's a nice grassy area next to the pool where we could walk our dogs, and the owners provide bags and a garbage can for cleaning up after the pooches (very convenient). The view of the canal is great, and it was nice sitting out on the big deck. Providing kayaks, paddle boat, and fishing rods for free is a nice gesture, although we didn't have a chance to use them. I'll note, though, that the paddle boat looked like it was in rough shape. The hotel is about 30 mins from the ballpark, but there was quite a bit of traffic to get there. It's also located in a residential area that has a lot of traffic, although it's within a 5-10 min drive from a nice selection of restaurants. Most other guests were age 40+, and it was a quiet, peaceful atmosphere away from the typical touristy areas. The bad: The room was not very clean. Peeking under the furniture while looking for a lost dog toy I noticed all manner of small pieces of trash (a container of dental floss, a coin, lint, string, etc) that had not been vacuumed up by the housekeeper. The shower and especially the shower curtain were covered in mold/mildew. This is easily solved with regular application of a bleach/water solution. The shower was also tiny. My boyfriend is 6'3" and could barely fit in the shower. The pillows on the bed were flat as pancakes. I didn't have a problem with the bed, as some others have commented here, but the pillows were terrible. The room was small for our needs, but that's our fault for not booking something bigger. Without the dogs, we would have been very comfortable with the size of the economy room. Ultimately, the Hideaway is fine. Had the room been cleaner, and had we booked a larger room, I would have been perfectly happy. read more

We were pleased with the charming accommodations - large living room, kitchen, bath and private bedroom with king-sized bed that was very comfortable. We were there just one night, and visited friends who live in Cape Coral. Had my coffee and read the paper on the waterfront deck. The owners, Linda and Mark were nice and helpful.
