They made up multiple excuses instead of taking thirty seconds to look at the device. If a pawn shop won't verify the basic functionality or hardware status of an expensive electronic item before a customer drives long distance, they are likely hiding something or just don't care about customer service. ​Save yourself the drive and the headache. Plenty of other shops are willing to be transparent about what they are selling.
