This man is a complete asshole! Be aware when using this company. We had them come for a service call. They proceeded to hit a drain line in our attic from the AC unit and the drain line leaked down the wall and into our floor boards. We called this man and he proceeded to say it wasn't his fault. We asked him to come and look at what he did. When he returned to our house he verbally attack my wife, while alone inside our house, screaming and yelling at her. The police were called. I use Mr Higginbotham all the time. After Katrina I had him install my new system. When I have a problem he's the first one I call.

This man is the best there is. If he is doing a home shield job his hands are tied as to procedure. He'll come back a few times putting in his report he recommends replacing the unit but home shield won't go for it till he's been there at least three times for same issue. He goes to bat for ya and will push the issue about replacement. He just gotta drag it thru the mud to get you what he would do if it were up to him. Replace your old with the new so everyone is happy and upgraded. He trully pulled off some miracles for me . I'd recommend him and his helper kory to anyone . Steve with Higginbotom's AC is one of the rudest, most unprofessional repairman I have ever met. He yelled at me in my own home for asking why we continue to have problems with our AC and need him to come out every few months to address a new problem. I absolutely advise you to hire ANYONE ELSE. He is the assigned contractor that our warranty company, American Home Shield, uses. Extremely rude and arrogant. Got them from American Home Shield and they didn't fix crap. Blamed it on a dirty coil and said it was a maintenance problem which is not able to be accessed by someone not trained. It wasn't as simple as changing an air filter. He didn't visualize the coil to know if it was in fact dirty or rusted and clogged from rust. Seemed like he didn't want to be bothered at all with the job. Maybe AHS needs to pay better to get more qualified people to contract with them. read more

Had this company out TWICE to fix my ac over the last two weeks (through my home warranty) and both times was told nothing was wrong. My a/c wouldn't shut off, even when it's set at 76 degrees (we've lived in the same house for 6 1/2 years, never had this issue). The first time they came out, the only thing they said was that the condenser was a little low on freon. Two days later, they came back out and one of the guys is instantly defensive and giving me a slight attitude. He told me my house is the issue because I have single-pane windows and it's just hot outside (go figure...). Both my husband and myself tried to explain that something is wrong. Well, Thursday (8/9) the poor unit sounds like it's choking trying to breathe and I go outside and it's frozen solid. Home warranty company can't get anyone out until today (8/13). New company comes out and low and behold - the coil is shot and leaking freon everywhere. Instead of having the problem diagnosed properly the first (or even second) time Higginbottom's came out, I got the luxury of sitting in a hot house all weekend because I can't afford to abandon ship to a hotel and board my pets at the vet for what's already been 4 days, and will still be a few more days while my home warranty company decides what they want to do (whether replace just the coil or the entire condenser). I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. They only get one star because Yelp doesn't give the option for zero. 0/5 Would not recommend. read more

This company came to fix my a/c. They were quick to respond to our call for help. They came the same day and fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. I'm not sure of the price because we used our home warranty, so we only paid our service charge. Having a warranty doesn't mean a good company, we had a horrible refrigerator repair company. read more

UNBELIEVABLE! We have a warranty with America home shield. The tech came out and we hoped it was fixed. The unit is leaking. 2 weeks after he came out it's leaking in another spot. My fear was that he only redirected the leak. That's what he done. We call to tell him what's going on he proceeds to tell my husband that the warranty does not pay for access and that's an out and out LIE. We were without a/c for 7 days. He came out many days in a row always at 4, so if he needed a part he couldn't come back until the next day or the day after. When I complained about his service he refused to come back. The next a/c man said he installed the wrong size circuit breaker (it the future it wouldn't carry the load), and installed the float switch wrong. Plus, he's not a very friendly guy. Not impressed, would absolutely NOT recommend. We used them only because our home warranty required us to. Our a/c went out last September. It was several days before they could even come out then they came late in the evening on the Thursday before Labor Day so the compressor was not even ordered until the following Tuesday. Then they took their time getting around to installing it once it did arrive. We were without central a/c for a total 4 weeks, thank God for quickly installed window units! .......Fast forward to 9 months later and the less than 1 year old compressor goes out. They told us (after several days of calls trying to get them to even come out!) that it was a manufacturer issue that caused the issue and although the equipment was covered, it would cost nearly $700 in labor & freon. Less than a month later our a/c is AGAIN not working. We have called Higginbottom several times in the last 4 days with absolutely no response. We called another company last night. They came out at 8:30 this morning, discovered that the issue was that HIggimbottom didn't put enough freon (which we paid for!). They were done & my a/c was fixed by noon. In southern Louisiana, getting your air fixed quickly is a must. Their incompetence doesn't even bother me as much as their lack of consideration. If this is how they conduct business I can only assume that the way they make their money is through the warranty companies and their customers who don't have a choice but to use them. I'm confident in saying Steve Higgenbottom runs the best HVAC company in the Metairie, Louisiana area. My ~15 year old central AC system tends to break in various new ways during the hottest days of the year. No matter how many appointments Steve has in a day he always has time to respond to a call and likely service the same day! This can likely be attributed to the fact that he has my AC problem diagnosed and is in the middle of the repair within 5 minutes of arriving on-site. Another point that is equally important as the quality service Steve provides is his honest prices for service. He may run the only HVAC company in town that is not grossly overcharging for R-22 Refrigerant at a rate I consider to be criminal. read more
