It is housed as part of a Manchester Souvenirs and News store. When the Post Office first opened, I noticed a lot of teething issues, such as being closed during opening hours or the staff being poorly trained to deal with basic services such as posting letters, however, since then, they've improved. With the main Crown Post Office closing on Spring Gardens, this store has done a good job in preparing their staff for the closure with extra support and training, yet I do feel there is more to do - there is regularly only one staff member working the Post Office, even at busy times. I understand being just a counter as part of a larger newsagents, it is difficult to find the space, but it would be great if they could reduce the waiting times, or perhaps even install the self-service machines, similar to what we see at other Post Office locations. They are open until 18:00 with the last collection for mail during the week at around 17:15 - this is pretty standard for a Post Office, however there are many other nearby Post Offices open later with Deansgate closing at 21:30 and Arndale closing at 23:00 during the week. I'm not a big fan of the newsagents which generally sell overpriced drinks and cheap tat/souvenirs, however, the staff are generally friendly and the location is especially handy for me as I don't need to carry larger parcels into and around town after getting off the bus at Shudehill. 3*

They always seem to have a smile for you and definitely know what they are doing. (Nothing worse than PO staff who don't seem to know much ...) They have a fairly good selection of stationary items and cards compared with a lot of other smaller post offices. Highly recommended. :)

The post office itself is modestly sized and stocks greetings cards, chocolate, stationary and scratchcards as well as offering all the usual post office services. Also noteworthy is the fact that they have a cash machine which doesn't charge you installed inside, this is a rarity in Breightmet as my nearest machine charges £1.75 per withdrawal. However, the machine is crammed in at the back and right next to a service counter so you may have to push your way through the queue for the counters. The staff are friendly and expedient and offer good customer service.

They have a good amount of counters, and also had a good amount of staff working meaning the queue seemed to go down pretty quickly, so the wait wasn't too bad. They didn't have any automated self-service postal machines, I would have liked to see them here as most Post Offices, even those within WHSmith locations do seem to have them. It's a shame to see Altrincham Post Office shut on Sunday's, even though the store it is located in does remain open (WHSmith), so that makes little sense in my opinion. 3* - Decent Post Office, facilities are minimal due to WHSmith location, but quick service and pretty good for a small town.

The ladies who man the counter are extremely friendly and effieicent in addition to having an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Post Office related. They usually suggest the cheapest method of posting items but also point out the benefits of alternative services. The Post Office shop stocks a range of cards, stationary and parcel wrapping products as well as offering a beaurea de change at the rear of the store.

Surrounded by all the usual high street shops like Holland and Barrett, coffee from Starbucks - plus there's some good high street banks here still like HSBC and Barclays (I know... a bank you can actually walk into and do banking stuff still exists in town...) The best thing on offer though are the travelling markets which come and go pretty much every month - there's always something going on here so definitely worth checking out any time of the year - especially the Xmas ones from mid Nov to Dec.

Although St Ann's isn't the biggest public space in Manchester, there are plenty of traders to choose from. It can be hard to take everything in, especially when your stomach's growling and you know you're short on time, but it's worth it trust me. Don't dive in to the first thing you see! You can choose from a Turkish grill serving up different flavours of chicken in wraps, Indian, Chinese, Thai Pies, regular pies, hog roast (the same stall from my previous review and well worth a visit!), fudge, nuts, cakes and breads. There's even a bar serving up beer, wine and prosecco if you feel the need. What more could you want? On this visit - and I'm sure there will plenty more, as I always love walking back into the office with something exciting and everyone then mentally planning their next lunch break - I just went for a cheese and bacon pastry from Martin's, along with a slice of flapjack. The pastry was gone in minutes and the flapjack served very well as a naughty hangover breakfast.

There is a chemist/pharmacy in the same building so it's useful if you have prescriptions to fulfil as well as needing to post letters/parcels. You can send by DPD or Evri as well as Royal Mail. You can buy your postage from eBay and just drop it off and get a certificate of posting at the same time.

Nothing major, and nothing you won't find at other post offices, but it's useful to have it there. The only thing I don't like is that if you time your visit wrong, you will have a long wait because this is the only post office in the area.
