Highrove Swimming Pool is easy to get to by bus or car. There is free parking and it is quite reasonable to get in. The building offers a pool, multi gym and saunas and gym membership is available. The Pool and surrounding areas are kept clean and well maintained. There seems to be more than enough staff available with someone always ready and able to help. Unfortunately there are no family changing areas so youngsters have to go into the main changing room with the parent. On a weekend and during the school holidays the pool offer a fun session where a big inflatable assault course is floated on the pool and the diving boards are out. These sessions get really busy. One point to make is that the changing rooms are not supervised during these fun sessions and there have been fights amongst some of the teenagers. Best to go early. read more

Money used for the refurbishment of the facility was well spent and the improvements are welcome and were much needed. However, the centre is now busier than ever and having a decent workout in the pool is near impossible. Three lanes dedicated for swimmers according to their ability (slow, medium, fast) are usually overcrowded and the swimming etiquette is not observed by most users, which means that anyone intent on serious swimming will be stuck behind someone doing breast stroke in the fast lane most of the time. Lifeguards do not seem too concerned about placing users in proper lanes, even when spoken to about the issue. I tried different swim times and found the problem to be consistent throughout. Paid parking is an unnecessary headache as well. Uxbridge pool is run differently and it's usually worth a drive if you're a serious swimmer, even if Highgrove is closer to you, just prepare to be scalded when taking a shower, if you find one that's working that is. read more
