In my previous state the DMV was the stuff nightmares were made of! If you had to visit them in person, your blood pressure shot up twenty points just thinking about it. So now I move to Highlands County and my neighbors tell me that the DMV is part of the tax collector's office. Who would have thunk! I had to do the usual new driver's license, transfer tags etc. PRO TIPS # 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Visit the web site first and make sure you have EXACTLY the paperwork they specify. Armed with the proper forms, off I went to Sebring. I found the process streamlined and very efficient. The lines were short. The people were friendly. Worst experience I've ever had. I moved to Hillsborough county and not a single problem like I had here. Almost like they were two different states. This tax collector is horrible and applies rules that don't matter with very little over sight. Was not impressed. Hillsborough though was really good. I was there to fill an application out to volunteer my services for the Highlands county services. It was a very quick process speaking with the reception. I also had some questions about the process and they sent a woman out to explain or about it. Every had a smile and we're very pleasant. They called me a few weeks later for more information. And I am very pleased will the way they get the ball rolling to help the communication. read more
