Perhaps one of the best sushi I had so far in Germany. A must go place for any sushi lovers…read more Every sushi piece was made fresh and authentic. The rice was just right with consistency, temperature, and mixture of vinegar. I enjoyed every bite of it. Upon ordering, you will get a free mini appetizer like in japanese style pubs. The atmosphere is also unique and very calm, resembling a train dining area. There is something enjoyable eating in a train like environment while real trains pass by. A very tidy, cute and clean place. That being said, however I do not recommend this place for those who are just discovering sushi. The price is on expensive side, you will definitely not enjoy your time here if you do not understand the subtle differences in quality you get for this price. The appetizer was a bit of a disappointment. We had a plate of edamame, but no extra plate to contain the remains, and the edamame was overcooked and soggy. (Edit: Returned couple times and the edamame was better and with extra plate to dispose the remains) We ordered: 2 kirin beer, 2 mid class sushi plates, and a plate of edamame and the total was about 70 euros Definitely will return for a bigger bite, but probably not any time soon as for the amount we paid, it is not a casual price to regularly dine here. Would have given 5 stars if I had not known other places that are more competitive in quality vs price.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese sushi and cuisine, don't go here. Sadly, the sushi at Kim…read moreHung's is despicable. Being a native of Okinawa, Japan, I was excited when a sushi bar opened in Friedberg since I live fairly close. I thought I'd give the Vietnamese owners the benefit of the doubt and try the sushi. One might think based on the photos, "What's my deal?" Well, Japanese food is neither Chinese nor Vietnamese. There is as much distinction between Asian ethnic foods as there is among European ethnic foods. It might look like sushi but it was not Japanese and it certainly was not delicious. My husband ordered Tamagoyaki (sweet egg omelet), Kappamaki (cucumber roll), and the Philly (salmon with cream cheese roll). I ordered the udon, also not Japanese. For starters, the sushi rice is not done correctly. How the rice is prepared really separates the good sushi from bad sushi. It was utterly too vinegary and mushy. Second, the salmon was not fresh. Third, the egg omelet was watery and also missing a necessary ingredient to truly make it Tamagoyaki. Lastly, the soup base of my udon was more of a stock for Chinese wonton. It also had vegetables like bean sprouts and bokchoy that are not common to Japanese udon and which have a distinctive flavor that would alter the soup stock. This vegetable flavor isn't typical for udon which uses soy, bonito (fish), konbu (sea kelp) and sometimes miso (soy bean paste) stocks. I'm all for good fushion food. In fact, I love Japanese fushion rolls like caterpillar roll and crunchy roll. However, when I eat at any Japanese restaurant, I expect a level of authenticity from the food. Eating at Kim Hung's, I only encountered disappointment with each food I tried. None of it was authentically Japanese. I guess I received what I paid for here, since the place is relatively cheap compared to other Japanese restaurants in Frankfurt am Main and vicinity. The authentic restaurants can be found in Frankfurt am Main but it cost 4 to 6 times the price of meals I would get in Japan. The place has a nice ambience and just only that. I didn't mind the service either since they were friendly. However, I can't give anything more than one star because the people here are only banking on the sushi trend in Germany and because there is no other Japanese restaurant in Friedberg to compete with it. A restaurant shouldn't market itself as a Japanese sushi bar if they are not going to make an effort to do it right. Stick to their wok menu if you want to eat some decent Chinese/Vietnamese food.

Trying to reserve with the help of a form on their website didn't succeed: no reaction at all. Anyhow we decided to just go there. Then the food: with my family we enjoyed some sushi plate as a starter. This was fresh, nicely served on large plate and absolutely the star of the dinner. My recommendation: eat sushi in this restaurant. As a main course we ordered ramen and yakisoba. The ramen was okay-ish, a bit more spice and taste wouldn't harm the experience. The yakisoba with salmon was very disappointing, the sauce was so sweet, it was like a desert. Really disgusting. The yakisoba with chicken was way better, but not worth the price, it is a dish similar to what is offered at takeaway wok restaurants in railway stations. My final judgment: 3 out of 5. If you go there, sushi is the dish to take.

I waited for more than half an hour for a plate of sushis and some noodles. I wanted to leave after some time but the owner told me that my order will be ready in 2 minutes. I got it 10 minutes after and no apologies, or any word from him. I don't recommend this place unless you don't mind waiting for ages.
