In the end what he did was to rearrange our shabby old furniture and lamps. He brought only what he could fit in his small car on one trip for staging accessories. During the process of "playing tetrus" with our furniture he became irate and literally had a temper tantrum when I confronted him about using our furniture and placing a large television blocking the view from a window. Orchestrating this move…read morefrom North Carolina for my elderly father living in New York, felt like climbing Mount Everest with a toothpick!  And entrusting someone I have never met before with this task wasn't something that came easy for me.  But I must say, when I sent Neil an email from his website he responded the very next day.  We had our initial conversation the same afternoon.  I immediately thought "I like him and he sounded like he knows his stuff.  I'll kept my remaining reservations on hold for a bit and move forward."  My reservations had NOTHING to do with Neil, but instead me giving up control and 100% letting someone else drive. I think you are almost in disbelief when you hear the numbers of hours it will take to methodically dismantle the contents of your home.  Neil spoke my language from day one - "I need an hour estimate/cap, don't discuss cost with my dad, all bills come to me, and he are the tips and tricks to navigate my dad's "potholes".  He kept me informed every step of the way, contacted me when he had questions, and worked with us to spend his time and our budget where it made the most sense. As the process evolved, Neil continued to take care of tasks I had assumed I would have to make imaginary free time to do.  He coordinated with our realtor, packaged and shipped items we asked for to us in NC, returned our cable equipment, etc. etc. etc. When it was all said and done, he actually came in under his original quote!  I told him hiring him was the best decision ever and there's NO WAY I could have done everything he did in the time he did or maintain my sanity! Here's how the process worked for us -- Neil worked with my dad one-on-one to go through EVERYTHING in the house to determine what he wanted to take to his new place in NC.  We opted to forgo movers and have Neil box and ship all those items to us, so we left the furniture and big pieces behind.  Then Neil organized an estate sale to sell off everything remaining.  Any thing leftover after the sale was then donated or trashed.  Any debris was cleared by Neil and his team and the house was left broom-swept clean. Our first meeting with Neil was on March 22 and the house was emptied by May 9.  I can wholeheartedly say, Neil was worth every penny, the nicest guy you will ever meet, straightforward pricing, and trustworthy!  Sure, I could have saved money and done it myself, but realistically, I'd STILL be there NOW (whenever you may read this review) trying to weed through 60+ years of junk!

My experience with this firm continues to cause distress 7 months after the debacle. Know This! These people are poorly organized and do not leave you feeling anything but angry and cheated. Nearly 3 months prior to sale we set a date. References were called but I believe they were family or friends. I was moving out of state so could not be there to oversee the sale. Two weeks prior to the agreed upon date , I was informed the date was moved forward one week . When I showed email proof, this firm changed back, but didn't reschedule another commitment so my sale was double booked. As a result I was told they wouldn't have enough time to properly prepare. ( and they didn't property prepare, it was total chaos.) It got worse. As promised, they advertised the sale for Friday and Saturday . On Friday morning, in another state, I receive a call from my security service. This firm was not at my home, but the public was. They were walking through my house and had tripped my alarm. J&k said they were at the other sale and "made a mistake" advertising the sale on a day they did not intend to be there, and "made a mistake" leaving my door unlocked. So the poorly prepped sale went on a day after strangers walked through, but J&K "reassured" me "nothing was missing." Know this: J&K will not provide you with a list of items sold, nor how much items were sold for. they will tell you that at the end of the sale they let buyers walk because "they were trying to and dime me." And lastly they will bring in another firm to charge you hundreds of dollars to clean out what didn't sell so that firm can resell it for their own benefit. Im not sure if there was conflict of interest. In summary, my advice, find an estate sales firm that knows estates.

Liz and Frank walked away with every dime of my money and, as of one year later, have paid me zero! In April of 2023, I provided a list of the major items which included livingroom, diningroom, and bedroom sets, game room, office, 8 industrial server racks, and nearly every tool and lawn appliance that a do-it-yourself homeowner would have. The "yard sale" value of these items totaled $20K - $25K. Once the numerous small appliances, small furniture, clothing, etc. was added and after Frank and Liz took their cut, I thought it reasonable to expect 10-15K. Liz and I discussed in detail that I needed to move very quickly, that as I downsized to my new location I may be adding or subtracting items as I identified my needs, and that because we had so little time, I'd still be living in the home during much of the preparation. I mention this because my adding and subtracting items was the reason that Liz cited for having not paid me. All communication went silent once I asked for an itemized list of items that sold. This home and the possesions that I left in the hands of Summer Place Productions was the accumulation of 25 years with my late husband and I was paid nothing.
