    Carnitas Nachos
    Robin P.

The place so good we went twice in one day. Our first visit for lunch was wonderful, eating out every meal on vacation is hard for us so I wanted something lighter midday. We had Kristen as our server, she was so attentive and sweet. To start we tried the sweet cornbread, lavender mint lemonade, and regular lemonade. The lavender mint lemonade was one of the best drinks I've had in a while. For our meals he had the BLTA with fries and I had the avocado and lime salad with tri tip steak. Absolutely stellar food, quality ingredients and great flavors. We had leftovers for sure, lol, something to eat on the drive back to DFW the next day. For dinner, we sat outside and had Jess as our server. She was also really nice, she had quite a few tables and still managed to give us plenty of attention. We had carnitas nachos and the ground beef soup. The carnitas nachos are... unnecessarily large. lol Luckily the soup bowl was very small so I was able to help the boyfriend with some nachos. But my small effort was not enough and he tapped out of the nachos at the halfway mark. Highly recommend the nachos if you have four friends with you. =D This was a great restaurant with a lovely outdoor space. If we lived in Fredericksburg, I could easily see us making this a monthly hang out on Friday nights. If you have the chance, make sure to get in with Kristen or Jess, you won't be disappointed.

This was a great new find for us. Make sure you don't come too hungry. We had a little wait for inside, where I really wanted to be. The patio was nice and once the sun went down it was more tolerable I'm sure. The food was fantastic! I loved the cornbread skillet. The shrimp tacos were packed and full of flavor. The chicken schnitzel was good too. This place has a cute rustic Texas vibe. If in town try it out!

Great food! Great service! A little packed but we only waited 20 minutes! Our server was so helpful! We ordered the mango ceviche as an appetizer and it was so tasty! It does have a little bit of a spice kick! The BLTA is massive and very filling!

Great meal. Hill & Vine has been here for 5 years and we just now found it. Glad we did. Four of us came here for dinner on a Tuesday around 6 pm. Brianna was our server and she did a great job of taking care of us. One in our party had a drink. She ordered an Alstadt lager - a local beer. The rest of us had water. We started out with the Onion Rings appetizer. Wow - really yummy. They were large, crispy and served with 2 sauces. For dinner, my wife and I shared a Wedge Salad and the Bison Bolognese. The kitchen split the salad for us and we table split the Bolognese ourselves. Both the salad and the bolognese were great. Our friends split a grilled fish entree. I forget which fish it was but they really enjoyed it. My wife and I split the Croissant Bread Pudding. And OMG, it was among the best bread puddings I've ever had. We will definitely be returning to Hill and Vine and we've shared our experience with other friends as well.

We came here during our honey moon and had a great experience. Our waitress was great and suggested this tequila drink that came in a cowboy boot, it was delicious and the food was great! They had a cute interior and walkway to the tables. Also they have a big patio for people who love patio seating

We had the goat cheese appetizer, filet & avocado lime salad with tri tip. The filet was a little over cooked, but still enjoyed! The wine sauce wasn't our favorite. The picpoul was a great choice for wine!

A total local gem that served delicious food from apps to dessert! Cocktails were also unique and tasty. Nice shareable portions with healthy options also. Good quality all around. Relaxing atmosphere and a good space/layout. Service was friendly and efficient for our group. Definitely recommend trying it out when in the area!

I love love love this place! Dropped in for a late lunch on a Friday and the restaurant was busy but we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, the setting was inviting and the food was incredible! I truly enjoyed the BLTA and the chicken salad looked amazing! Little tip, do not sleep on the onion rings, they were perfect!

We were really disappointed with our anniversary dinner experience. My husband ordered the tri-tip, and when ordering, the waiter stated it could only be prepared medium-rare or more well done -- not rarer -- and we placed the order based on that. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. Light and great flavor for an appetizer. The drinks were also very good too.

This place was so cute and the food was really good. We went for my birthday while we were in town. There was a short wait because it was a Sunday morning and brunch time but we were sat fairly quickly. Service was quick and friendly. I loved everything I tasted and we all enjoyed our food. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and waffles. It was such a pretty presentation too. I also ordered a mint gin drink to start with and then a prickly pear mimosa. They had outdoor seating too. I would definitely come back here

Been here 3 times! Every time we come to Fredericksburg we eat here. Our personal favorite is the croissants bread pudding. The fries are crispy and flavorful.

I visited for my bday trip for the first time and I absolutely loved my experience! It is a quaint outdoor setting with beautiful greenery. They provide umbrellas as well for shade if necessary. The appetizers, entrees, desserts and wine all hit the spot. Great customer service as well! I would definitely recommend if you're visiting Fredericksburg.

    Yes!

How difficult is it to get a table for 2 on a Saturday night? Their website says that they no longer take reservations.

We had no wait as a table of 4 on a Saturday night during peak and there were open tables inside and outside. I think if you're willing to sit outside, you'll be fine.

Initially, the hostess told us they couldn't accommodate our party, but then they changed their mind. The interaction felt uncomfortable, as she emphasized their policies for large groups and mentioned that they normally require a minimum of $145 per person. She ultimately allowed us to bypass that requirement as long as everyone ordered an entrée. Our waitress, however, was wonderful and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I ordered the clam and mussel pot, which I found surprisingly bland, though the bread was delicious. The rest of my group seemed to enjoy their meals much more than I did. Unfortunately, there were also some cleanliness concerns. A spider descended from the ceiling onto our table during dinner, and another bug crawled across the table. There was even a bug zapper in the corner of the restaurant that seemed to be going off constantly throughout our meal. For a party of seven, our bill came to around $700. Given the overall experience, the food quality, and the atmosphere, it felt a bit underwhelming for the price.

We enjoyed the atmosphere - it looks like a house-turned-bar and has so much charm. We were able to place our orders at the bar and one of the bartenders brought it out to us in the backyard. We sipped on our delicious drinks while rocking on the swinging bench outside. We decided to share the volcano ashes and floating petals cocktails. The volcano ashes was a bit too bitter for my taste - if you're someone who wants very little sweetness in your drink, this is the one for you. The floating petals was much more my style - the mix of floral tastes was lovely and it was on the slightly sweeter end, just how I like it! We decided on two sangrias after that which were nicely spiced and absolutely lovely. As it got colder outside we decided to move to one of their side rooms, which has nice furniture and is a bit more private than the main room. The bartenders were very kind and the drinks were delicious! Definitely check this spot out on your next visit to Fredericksburg.
