I do not recommend this school under any circumstances because the principal is extremely rude and disrespectful. They have insulted both my child and me, and the only thing that seems to matter to them is money. We enrolled our son there, but after four months, we had to withdraw him and forfeit all the fees we had paid. The principal compared him to other children and discriminated against him. I strongly advise other families not to send their children here and not to waste their money. The school lacks proper discipline, and we were only satisfied with one teacher who genuinely cared about the children. The rest of the teachers barely pay any attention to the kids. My son used to attend with his therapist, and the principal insulted the therapist as well, asking us to change therapists because she had a personal issue with the therapist's appearance. This review is long over due, we our going on our third year of enrollment at HillPoint Montessori and we are extremely happy about our decision. Prior to having our child here, school was a real daily struggle. We did not enjoy having to spend long hours each night completing work sheets and hw; our child was not happy. Being professional working parents having to come home and complete a stack of "work sheets" was utter misery for all of us. Each Sunday night we began to hear "my tummy hurts", since school was on Monday. The final straw came the day when our little one yelled at us in tears "I HATE SCHOOL!!!", we finally accepted that we needed a change. I searched and spent countless hours reading, talking to other parents, and doing campus tours of different private schools in the SFV area. Most were either not affordable for us or followed very traditional teaching methods. We knew our child needed something different, "aHillpoint Montessori was the answer. I remember the first day we toured the campus with our child; we meet the school director and lower elementary teachers. We were in awe as we saw that Ms. Alyssa (the lower elementary teacher) had in her "parent library" the same books that we were reading about child development and child neuro-development. The more we got to know Ms. Alyssa and ask her questions, the clearer it became to us that the Montessori teaching approach was in perfect sync to what our child and family needed. We were in disbelief that such a school and classroom could even exist and that the tuition was within our budget. By the time we were done with our tour we knew we had to enroll our child at Hillpoint Montessori. We asked lots and lots of questions to the school director Ms. Dayani; our questions were very direct and upfront--we needed to know and feel secure that this school would be the right place for our child and family. We didn't want to find our child and family in another school environment that didn't support our child's needs. Making a change was a bit intimidating, having to change your child's school is and can be nerve wrecking. However, the school and Ms. Alyssa made the transition a smooth and beautiful one. The approach that Montessori takes is one of respect, inclusiveness, and acknowledgment. In other schools I noticed that children are "talked at" and not "talked with"; now our child has a voice and is heard by the teachers and classmates. In the Montessori method, children are taught empathy, independence, good citizenship, curiosity, and creativeness which foster an environment of learning. Our child loves to learn and explore the world, the questions we now get asked and engagement is astonishing. At our previous school, which followed the traditional teaching method, our child did not want to go to school and upon being picked up there was nothing to share or mention about the day. All the answers were "I don't know..." followed by endless silence-regardless of what we asked, how we asked, or how creative we were in engaging a conversation about the school day. Prior to Hillpoint, the passion/curiosity to learn within our child was disinterested; we were able to see a drastic difference within the first week of starting class at Hillpoint Montessori. It's as if our child was back!!! Now, pick up time is the best part of the day, and very often our child says to us "why did you pick me up so early! Can't you pick me up later please?". The car ride back home is endless chatter as we hear about everything that happened at school that day, what lessons were taught, and what subjects were learned. We have also been able to form beautiful friendships with other school families and our children very often get together for play dates and to do fun activities together. We didn't have this at our previous school, it's a special community we have built at Hillpoint. There is no other learning method that comes close to the Montessori method, with the exception of the Waldorf Method, however, this is not financially permissible to our family or most families. If you don't know what the Montessori method consists of, I encourage you to look it up-- if you are reading my review, and taking the time to get this far, it's probably because your child and family are searching for a better fit and learning environment. We understand as we were there three years ago. My child has been attending here since April 2021. I don't have any experience with any other schools, but I have no complaints about the wonderful care and instruction this school has provided. She started in the infant care center with Ms. Michelle and Ms. Karina, and Ms. Sharon and they were absolutely fantastic. My daughter is now in pre-primary and she absolutely loves all her teachers. The teachers at this school toilet-trained her before she turned two! My daughter is now 3 and her vocabulary is wonderful. Where do I begin with Hill Point Montessori? I can start by saying how amazing of a job they have done collectively with our daughter. She is only 2 and a half and already is in the 3-6 year old classroom. We have done a lot with her at home from the moment she's been born, but since enrolling her here at Hill Point, she has sky rocketed in so many avenues. Her social skills are unlike any other 2.5 year old that I have seen and her intelligence level is more than that her age. I will be sending all of our children here to Ms. Dayani and her school. It warms my heart and ensures me that we have made the right educational decision for our daughter when we get complemented on her behavior, attitude and overall personality in public and social settings. I had such high hopes for this school. Especially after reading the reviews and with it being the only Montessori elementary school in the area. Our child had been in Montessori since preschool and after moving, we discovered Hillpoint. Within the first month there, we experienced issues with our son that we had never had before. We attributed it to the move and all the changes. There was no real office staff for over half the year and the director always came in late, so there was no talking to anyone in the morning. The campus had such potential but was completely neglected. When we toured the school, we were told our son would get to work in the garden and with the chickens they had. His class never once dealt with the chickens and the "garden" was overgrown and never touched. The playground was also pretty depressing to look at. The director took a month long vacation during the school year which I felt was inappropriate. They never once took school/class pictures, which is usually done twice a year, so we have no 1st grade pictures at all. There were a lot of life skills that weren't incorporated into the curriculum that are typical of the Montessori method, such as doing dishes, sewing etc. The teachers didn't have any aids and were extremely overwhelmed and stressed out. We ended up experiencing behavioral issues with our son that were a first for us to the point where I reached out to his previous director at his old school and she was completely shocked and in disbelief at how the new school was handling certain situations. Once covid hit is when they completely dropped the ball. They had no plan in place and laid off the teachers. They quit actively communicating with the parents and left everyone in the dark. Luckily the teachers didn't turn their backs on the students and created a distance learning program for them. The parents paid the teacher directly. Some of the parents paid the annual tuition up front and received no refund from the school for the last few months. At first I felt I was the only one feeling upset, but all 5 of my mom friends have chosen to NOT re enroll with Hillpoint as well due to their disappointment with the administrative staff and program. The tuition is not cheap, but we were willing to pay it if we felt like it was worth it, but it wasn't. Poor management of funds. You have the director going out of the country for a month driving 100k Mercedes while the campus was understaffed and not maintained. They had a high turnover for the preschool teachers. Both the lower and upper elementary teachers left the school as well. That to me says there was a larger issue at hand. Would not recommend read more

Seeing that some parents giving Hill Point Montessori 4 stars and not 5 is proof that nothing is perfect for everyone.. I will say, however, that Hill point is as close to "perfect" as a school could be. It is 6 stars in my book. I can't say enough about how the school is run, the individualized care, the facilities, the programs, curriculum. My son started two years ago, and I literally have a smile on my face when I picture him being at Hill point. Easily, what stands out the most is the fact everyone in the faculty and administration seem to know my kid, personally...they are invested in all the kids..they aren't anonymous...my son feels like he is in a family type environment where people truly care about his welfare inside and outside of the classroom. That is a very rare characteristic for a school. I can't think on one single aspect of my son's education, from academics to administration, to sports, etc., that have not been handled with the highest level of care and professionalism. And, he has built a tremendous friend base at Hill Point...definitely his second family. I will look back on Hill point and say it was perhaps the best money I have ever invested...and easily one of the proudest contributions that I have made to my son's young life. Hill Point Montessori has been a blessing for our child and family. The owner of the school, Ms. Dayani, is very passionate about her school and the Montessori philosophy. She is at the school every single day, from 8:30 am until late afternoon... and always takes time to talk with me about any questions or concerns I may have. My daughter was in another Montessori school before coming to Hill Point, and I must say that the staff and teachers at Hill Point are excellent. They are friendly, enthusiastic, and very involved with all of the children. The classrooms have a wide assortment of Montessori materials, and the teachers are all certified to teach the Montessori method. Some (if not all) have extensive training and experience. I know personally that Ms. Marcia, Ms. Yasmine, Ms. Ivy, Ms. Bernie, and Ms. Elana are very dedicated to the children, and truly enjoy their role in helping to guide these children through learning new concepts, gaining independence, and opening up their wondrous little minds to new experiences and learning. I love the outside play area where there is an organic garden that the children get to work with, a tennis court area, playground, and lots of space for the children to be outdoors. There are opportunities for extra-curricular activities as well (such as piano, drama, soccer, ballet, tennis, karate, etc.) I am very thankful that there is a school in this area for my daughter to attend, learn and grow in such a wonderful way as I have observed over the past year. I would like to share my experience about this school (preschool). First day I visited this school they explained, we are very professional and organized. She said our teachers are very professional and passed Montessori courses before hiring. She said our preschool teacher has a-lot of experience and she iprofessional teacher. Unfortunately Everything that she told me about this teacher was opposite she was very angry , depress person and doesn't like to play or any activities with children. Even one day she told me, I am not your son babysitter or nanny to teach him how to wash his hand. I was very upset of her attitude and way she talk to me. After one month she left her job and another teacher started working there who was very professional, active person and know how to work with kids. 4 days ago I drop of my son at school and office told me , his teacher is not coming today so other teacher will take care of this class , around lunch time I went to picking up my son and I saw him crying. They told me he felt down and hit his head. I told them why you mixed older and younger kids together and this area is not safe for younger kids. They didn't say even sorry and they told me don't be worry his fin just don't let him to fall sleep for two hours. So I shared my experience because it is not fair to give them five stars. They charged 2500$ for first payment, insurance and new member and tuition but they don't care about your child. I am so sorry For my self, I trust this school read more

We were lucky enough to experience Hill Point. My son use to hate going to school and would even make up excuses until he made it to Hill Point. Mrs. Dayani inspired him to work hard every single day, he became a whole different child. One who looked forward to go to school everyday. He became independent and self driven. He loves Ms. Jen in the front office and always mentions his teachers in his prayers. I cant thank the staff and administration enough for helping my sweet boy find his love for learning, they were a bit short staffed but always made sure they communicated with us parents and kept us updated on everything going on at the school. I had been going to this school since I was 6 years old and it has been a wonderful journey. The teachers were resourceful and kind-hearted, as well as the principal, Ms. Dayani, whom I've known since I was 3. They have an excellent academic program that a lot of schools don't offer. The academic subjects include Math, Language, History, Botany, and Science. We had to do a speech every week, researching the topics, we chose to do. I've been taught so much, that my foundation became quite solid and built confidence within me. Now I've graduated from that school in 6th grade over two years back. Currently, I'm attending Faith Baptist Church and School. Thanks to Hill Point, I'm doing very well even though it has a different environment. We've been at Hill Point for several years and I continue to hear from my child that there will hopefully be more grades added. We left a very stressful and unfortunate school situation prior to Hill Point and felt refreshed upon arriving- the calm, organized conduct of both students and faculty are a respite in today's fast paced and disconnected world. The head of school has a passion for creating a genuine Montessori experience and wants to see all the kids succeed yet also be met with patience and kindness, which I'm sad to say I don't see often enough in today's schools. With that said, the children do have standards of learning, curriculum, expectations, tests and even learn to prep for standardized testing. The Montessori way is different but Hill Point has fused a contemporary approach incorporating principles of Maria Montessori with modern age and grade level education and skills. If a child progresses ahead or needs more time and help both are easily available and already built into the structure here. A large, natural yard complete with chickens and some growing vegetables enriches the experience even more. Miss Anishka, the front office smile, is so gracious and easy to interact with yet sweetly firm with the children. Her mother Miss Diyani is approachable, kind and always willing to talk about Montessori or anything. All the staff are very personable people. Our experience here has been largely positive- the few bumps we've encountered were addressed and solved, which I commend the school staff on. Unfortunately the school lost a stellar teacher at the end of the last school year and we hope she will return. Hiring is taken seriously and I certainly appreciate that given our other school experience. Our teacher for the first several years at HP was patient and kind, giving us time and space to adjust yet setting challenging goals. We are happy here and most importantly my child is doing well and now loves coming to school, even missing it when absent. The pricing has gone up a couple times and a bit more of an increase than we expected- I think they are making efforts and improvements to continue growing and making sure they recruit quality teachers and retain the good ones they have. The owners have been working hard on making the school as exciting and comfortable as possible. As a random extra, I'd love to see non-toxic cleaning supplies used at the school. A lot of the learning materials are wood. There are a number of interesting and actually enriching after school options with quality instructors- I'm impressed because many times these are throw-away 'classes' that are glorified babysitting. Not so- the dance by Ms Nikki is pretty happening, piano is good, computer programming or coding is another I've seen in passing, book club, martial arts and a few others all seem quality investments. We were lucky enough to come and do a trial week of school here, which was generous of Ms Diyani and really helped us get a feel- if you're considering Hill Point, I'd see about doing the same and checking out this unique little place. It has a small town feel and I appreciate how different it is. Let me start with positives. The teachers are very loving and affectionate; however, they don"t stay too long. Ok so background. My daughter started in September. I myself am a traditional teacher I was looking for a Pre-K for my youngest daughter that encouraged her through love and free choice. I began looking into the Montessori learning. I came across Hill Point. Upon meeting the director, she took me on a tour of the school and all the beautiful new materials and made a beautiful, believable speech on how much she loves education, and is determined to make sure all the children strive academically, etc. etc. Unfortunately soon, when I saw the huddle of parents out in the parking lot upset with all the director's empty promises from last year and seeing the same patterns this new school year, I began to see that I had been fooled by a very strategic sales person. By the end of October, I wanted to pull my daughter out of the school. Everyday, kids were getting added to the class. my daughter was 4.5 and she had 3 year olds in her class. Now I understand that an aspect of Montessori encourages this wide range of ages but what I am speaking of is different. Upon discussing my concerns for the large class size, and other things that did not seem to lined up with Montessori system, she some how talked me into giving her a chance, and sticking it out with her, etc. etc. I warned you she was good! At first I was taken back by the uniforms and the fact that a school philosophy that encourages children to learn and go at their own pace, choice what they would like to learn and when, it sort of goes against that if they cant choose their clothes. I asked the director if she would think about a once a month free day where the children could show off some of their style and personality in what they wear. I explained that research on it and she would hear nothing of it. She wanted everyone to dress the same, look the same, and as she put it, "show up to school clean and proper for learning". SO NOT MONTESSORI! Ok so by December my daughter had 3 teachers. She finally got to stay in Ms. Marcia's class which turned out well. Then in the New year, all of a sudden, the whole one on one speech and how small our class size is all changed. Without our input, we came to school on a Monday to a "community classroom of 35 kids ages 3-5. Yes with 4 teachers but even then, the teachers looked tired, overwhelmed, the class was noisy and seemed very hectic. I began seeing my daughter's attention span change. I began seeing work coming home that was all wrong and no one bothered to check it or redo it with her. In April I had a parent teacher conference in which she showed me all the beautiful things they use in the class. After that I said, "ok so now i have something to show you". I pulled a stack of ditto work that had come home all wrong. She was mortified. She said as much as she was trying, which on her behalf she really was, she just couldn't get to each child all the time anymore. I don't blame her. I began to cry because I realized that I had been paying $900 a month for a glorified day care. The director kept coming in and out of the conference sort of frustrated that the teacher was taking so long with me. At the end, the director said, "wow she took an hour with you". My reply was,' yes, when you have the 1st conference in April, what do you expect, thanks for your concern and asking how my child is doing and if there are any concerns that can make her learning better." I walked out. That day I began looking for a new school. With Spring break, it was hard so I needed to wait till after. We came back from Spring break to find yet another new teacher and this was it. On 4/29 I let the teacher know that my daughter might be absent because we were looking at a school. On April 30, I was confronted by the director for being unethical and leaving without a 1 month, per contract, notice to which I replied and said, who said I was leaving, just looking. That was the 1st day my search began. She was more concerned that I didn't give her a notice rather than why I was leaving...SAYS ALOT. Not concerned about academics and kids rather $$$$. She said Since it was May 1st tomorrow that I couldn't bring her back since I was planning on leaving. I couldn't believe my ears. I had not even found another school yet. Don't bother giving $1 to this school. Don't take my word for it. Go to the parking lot, wait for a preschool parent and ask 5 parents if they are happy. Proof is in the pudding. Preschool sucks here but hear the Upper Elementary is different but Kinder did get a new teacher in May. No teacher stays here because its not a good school. My daughter is at Agoura Montessori and her teacher has been teaching the same 4.5-5.5 class for 12 yrs. same class/school. Full of regret that I waited so long. We are very happy now but 2 months to get her ready for K and lost 8 mths. Might have to pull her back for my mistake!!! read more

Hello all, Just wanted to share that I have three boys that attend this wonderful school and we as a family couldn't be happier! My twins are absolutely in love with their teacher, Ms. Bernie and so am I! My twin boys ran into class their very first day almost a year ago and still have the same joy an enthusiasm today when going to school each morning! They are 3 now and will be transitioning to the next class in the fall, but we will definitely miss seeing Ms. Bernie's smiling face everyday. She's very passionate and nurturing and loves and cares for each child as if they were her own. I also have my oldest son, he is in the pre-k class and has been for almost a year and will be moving up to kindergarten in the fall! He loves all of the teachers in his class and talks about them everyday. He shares with me all the exciting things he's learning and this is the first school that his "true being"has emerged! He feels special, acknowledged and excited about learning in the classroom. Whether it's playing tennis, or his new found love for playing the piano he radiates with excitement in and out of the classroom. Heck, he even loves the playground and never gets enough of that either :) It's wonderful having a school where all the "extras" are right there. They offer pretty much everything a child would be interested in. No extra running around burning gas to have them involved in extra curricular activities! He loves the music/song part of his education and looks forward to each performance he participates in! He's a very proud 5 year old and I'm a very proud mommy watching my boys learn and grow! Ms. Dayani is an amazing director of this school! She is present EVERY day and is involved with ALL the students in EACH grade! She is passionate about having the students learn and thrive in a true montessori environment! Hello! I would like to start off by saying that I visited A LOT of schools before enrolling my son at Hillpoint. When I went to visit Hillpoint for the first time, it just felt right. Ms. Dayani, the school's director is very warm and welcoming. I absolutely loved her passion for education. It's rare to find a teacher these days who share that same passion. Here at Hillpoint, ALL the teachers share the same passion Ms. Dayani does. They are very loving, caring and you can see they love what they do! My son started there when he was 2 1/2. It's been amazing to see his growth and how much he has learned in the past 2 years! He adores his teachers and I love how excited he gets when he walks into class. So much so, that I have to ask him for a hug and kiss goodbye! I love the Montessori method of learning. They guide the children to think independently - while learning in the process. Hillpoint Montessori is a TRUE Montessori. I visited other "montessori's" - who basically just use the montessori name. I felt like those "montessoris" were glorified 'Romper Rooms'. From the materials used at Hillpoint, truly using the methods of Maria Montessori, and hiring only teachers that are CERTIFIED to teach Montessori, you can see the difference compared to other "Montessori's" and even public schools. If you ever observe a class during school hours, you can see how focused the kids are and how eager they are to learn. The campus is very clean and safe. You basically have to use two call buttons to get in! There are cameras in all classes, so you can watch what's going on at any time( from the lobby) , the classrooms are clean, and all have new , certified Montessori materials. In addition to the music, art and dance ( that's part of the curriculum), they also offer extra curricular sports! I signed my son up for karate, soccer AND tennis! And I love that THEY come to the school! I am very happy with my decision to enroll my son at Hillpoint. I love when I pick him up and he tells me about his day! Hearing about his day, what he learned, and knowing he is in a safe and loving environment....Hillpoint is a WIN WIN in my book! read more

I am a parent whose child is in the upper elementary class at Hill Point. I am deeply impressed with the Montessori approach of working in groups and working at your own pace, and believe that in the near future, it will be proven that this the best way for all children to learn. Many charters and tech start-up schools are using now using this approach. In fact, the tutoring company, Mathnasium, teaches Math concepts using the same methods used in Montessori schools. At Hill Point, children are allowed to pursue topics of interest in science, history, math and language arts which can be well beyond their current grade level or are given extra time to complete subjects which may be more challenging for them. In addition, children are encouraged to work together instead of constantly being told to be quiet as in other academic settings. Because of this, I have noticed that my daughter's communication skills have developed beyond her years. Other parents may be concerned about previous staff turnovers at Hill Point, but the bottom line is how the children are doing. After listening to 15 years of dozens of friend's complaints about pretty much every school between Crossroads and Sierra Canyon, I can tell you that no school is perfect, and one person's complaint is often not a big deal to someone else. Whether it's staff turnover, the drug problem in high schools (the higher the tuition, the bigger the drug problem, yet this doesn't seem to bother many people), crazy parents (every school), too much homework, not enough homework, rude teachers, teachers who are "too happy," (seriously, I heard that from one parent at another school), you name it, there is a complaint for everything, some legitimate, some not so much. You know what I am talking about. I encourage everyone, no matter what school you are paying for or not paying for, to stay focused on your individual priorities and the academic performance and well-being of your child. When I look at how much my child has accomplished, how much her confidence has grown, and the fact that she's gone from academic apathy to academic excitement -- that's all that matters. She looks forward to going to school and learning -- every single day -- that's all that matters. When she comes home wanting to learn more about an American President, or a country, or a time in history -- because continued learning is what is encouraged at Hill Point -- that's all that matters. When she easily moves from one grade to the next in spelling, in the middle of the year, because she is not limited by what 33 other kids are doing -- that's all that matters. This year my child developed critical thinking skills, taught at Hill Point, which will be invaluable in middle school and beyond. We love Hill Point!! read more

Both of my children have attended this school and it is absolutely excellent. In preschool my daughter is reading and both of them can count well past a hundred can do basic arithmetic and know their alphabet and many many words and that's just in preschool read more

Ms. Dayani is a wonderful owner and manager of the school. The staff have been handpicked and provide a caring and educational environment to the students and to their fellow employees. Every morning that we arrive at Hill Point Montessori, I watch children literally RUNNING toward the lobby entrance and straight to their classrooms. Children displaying THAT level of excitement towards their education day-in and day-out tells you that Hill Point Montessori is a special place. The campus is beautiful, the classrooms are definitively child-centered, and the teachers are ALWAYS APPROACHABLE. The director, Ms. Dayani, is very astute in matters of childhood education, and makes herself readily available to answer a parent's questions, despite her busy schedule. They also handle children's safety issues directly and very professionally. Our children love their school. We Love Hill Point! My daughter is dyslexic and was suffering with all the common core worksheets and large class sizes in public school. She had an IEP and supports but it really wasn't making a difference - her anxiety level was too high. I feel so lucky that we found Hill Point Montessori. She's been there now for a few months but she has learned more in that time than she had learned in the previous two years. Most importantly, she loves to go to school now! My great niece Avleen goes to this Montessori school, all of the teachers are really great with children, they motivate the children to learn! Montessori schools are specialized in their teaching program and this one in particular is superb! Oh my goodness my 2 1/2-year-old great niece has excel beyond her years in reading, writing, math, coloring in between the lines, arts and crafts. Avleen is so well spoken, great sentence structure, you can see her thinking before she answers the questions or having a conversation. She is a very intelligent little girl, very observant, very polite and extremely sweet with lots of personality. Yes, she has a great mother and father and other relatives that help her in every day life of learning. But this Montessori school in West Hills, Hill Point Montessori school has made a great impact on the foundation of her life, for the rest of her life. What a way to start, we are so proud of Avleen. I LOVE this school. My son had a horrible kindergarten experience in a supposedly excellent public school. We hesitantly tried the private school route and it has been amazing. Ms. Danushi and Ms. Dawn are wonderful patient teachers and have taught our six year old so much in such a short amount of time. They are an asset to the school. Mrs. Dayani Nawagamuwa and her husband Lucky are so patient and understanding, they treat every child as their own and always have their doors open in case you want to check on progress. We are so happy with the school that we decided to stay on for another year. Having worked in public schools at the elementary level I cannot express how important it is for kids to be free to explore and truly gain a love a learning.
