Other than that, it served me fine for what I needed. I was attending a gig, and just needed somewhere to get changed, grab a nap (being honest, charge my phone!) and sleep at night after the gig. It did all of those and in fine fashion. The lady on the reception desk was friendly, smiley and full of advice if I hadn't been to Glasgow before - the man in front of me hadn't and she was really helpful, pointing out things like the Subway, the main bus and rail stations, and giving him some pointers towards pubs and restaurants. When I checked in, I got my room key, which could be used for a discount on the pub just downstairs, Hootenanny, if you so desired, and hiked up the 3 flights of stairs to my room. The reception desk is well lit and manned 24 hours a day, a plus point if you're travelling on your own. It was clean, warm, and bright. I found the bed comfy, the TV remote worked, plenty of clothes hanging space and the toilet worked too. Everything you want from a budget hotel room for the night. The tea and coffee making facilities were a bonus! Location wise, it's literally falling distance from St Enoch underground stop, right at the heart of the city centre and about 5 minutes from Central Station. Is it a top class five star luxury hotel? No, but at the price you pay, it's absolutely ideal for one night stops, or as part of a trip across the country. Definitely a place I'll be returning to in the future.

The room also had a kitchenette, ironing board, hot towel rack, sitting area, a fan, a desk etc. This is a hotel which is perfect for longer stays. In the basement there's a laundry room with three washers and three dryers for the guests to use. No coins needed. You just need to get soap. Of course it could have been hardwood floors, air con and a pool - however this is Britain, so we didn't expect that. We did not try the hotel breakfast, however we ate at both The Spoon Cafe and Rose & Grants a cross the street. The food at the Spoon Cafe was very disappointing and Rose and Grants food was excellent, so we kept going to the latter.

Our room was not worth 85 GBP: it was much too small for two giant beds. There was no chair, no place to put our suitcases, the heat was stifling, our window only opened a few inches and faced a brick wall. The shower curtain caused a flood: it was the kind of uselessly thin fabric that lets water soak right through it and blows inwards and sticks to you while you shower. To be fair, I booked our room with only a few days' notice, so I expect all the nicer rooms were already taken. Thankfully there was a powerful (but noisy) electric fan which we ran constantly, and the friendly desk staff gave us a couple of whiskey vouchers for the cafe. The cafe was a sexy joint. We nommed wickedly on whiskey, cheesy string fries, and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream (if I ever find myself on Death Row, I'm making that my last meal) I would definitely stay at the Brunswick again if I could book in advance and get a nicer room.

First off, we got a first floor room which did not have any window. A windowless inside cabin. My husband said it's the first time he ever stayed in a hotel room with no view, however bad the view may be. Second, the room itself is small. Ibis and other hotels have small room too, but with better functional design. The restroom here has a large footprint, but there's no closet, just two hooks and a few hangers on the wall. In the restroom there was only a small hook enough for one towel, when they could easily have installed a rod or a few more hooks. The sink is so small it's challenge not to splash water all over. Last but not least, the bed sagged in the middle. Then again, the location is great, staff is friendly, so if you can overlook the small and dark room and don't plan on spending much time in it, this is not a bad place to base your travel.

There was a small fridge in the room with complimentary water and wafers, as well as an electric along with tea, instant coffee and hot chocolate. Our room was really quiet (we stayed on the 5th floor, not facing the street) and the blackout curtains made the room really dark which was great for getting a good night sleep. Breakfast was outstanding with some buffet options like yogurt, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, breads as well as a menu with hot egg options such as a full Scottish breakfast, eggs Benedict, porridge, etc all included. There were two coffee machines with espresso based coffee options as well as hot water for tea and filtered coffee. There's a small gym in the basement floor that had a few cardio machines, free dumbbell weights and a cable machine with pull-up bar, all of the necessary equipment to get a good workout in. I dont remember how we found it online, but I am glad we did. The room had a great feel. I really enjoyed the way it was lit. It was definitely well thought out, in respect to lighting design. I would 100% stay again.
