An Episcopal Church situated along the ever stretching Kilmarnock Road. Thus, is not in Shawlands,…read morebut rather towards the Newlands/Cathcart end. This AMAZING building towers over Kilmarknock Road with intricate masonry work, impressive architecture and extremely detailed glass windows. Meanwhile, the grounds surrounding it and well kept, pleasant and inviting. These are particularly nice at this time of year with their borders of tiny, bright, fresh daffodils and neatly cut grass. While, I've never actually attending a service here (which takes place at 9am and 10.30am on Sundays) on principle I really like and appreciate the Episcopalian tradition. As it seems, to me, to be a good opt out of the Catholic and Protestant options. Somehow, it merges aspects of both and walks the line between them. Something which is should really be done a lot more, and especially so in Glasgow. So worth a look at the building, or popping in to investigate their services.

Happy, clappy springs to mind. This church definitely likes it's music - a very modern pop/rock mix…read moreincluding loads of guitars and keyboards. Indeed, music as well as the cafe/coffee shop and youth social evening's is what this church is excellent at. However, it lacks teaching and preaching that have any depth. Instead, it primarily focuses, and relies, on flashy gimmicks to 'hook' people - especially youths. This, usually would not cause too much concern; after all youths can be the most easily influenced and led. Some would even consider it their duty to save them from paths of drink, drugs and sex. But, I find some of their main teachings worryingly edging towards the fundamental: faith healing, no premarital sex and sexual reorientation. Perhaps, if they could demonstrate a more diverse range of aftercare to their new recruits or a great degree of inclusiveness there would be a few more stars on their rating.

A fairly small Methodist Church based in Pollokshaws situated on Pollokshaws Road. It works out of…read morea low, new build which is coated in rough casting and painted white. This congregation has been settled here for years and years, which should indicate that it is a happy and well established church with a good number of dedicated members. Further signs of this include their various church groups of which there is a good selection. These include: Bible study groups; worship groups; ladies group and a house group. Other gatherings of church goers also take place for other church related activities such as choir, music and movement and both male and female bowling clubs/groups. All of the above, suggests this is a happy and close knit functioning religious organisation that have been established in the community for sometime and will continue to be so. Might be worth popping into their Sunday service at 11am if you are interested in Methodist churches or, are interested in theology in general and haven't witnessed this one in full swing.
