I absolutely love coming here. I work down the street and stop in a few times a week. Everything that they make is wonderful, from the smoothies to the sandwiches and beyond. There are vegetarian options for those looking. The quality of food is much better than your average deli. They also carry all sorts of snacks and a huge drink selection so you can always find what you're looking for. Not ready for a full meal? They've got nuts and cliff bars and ice cream and cookies and fruit snacks... the list goes on and on. There is seating inside and also 3 nice picnic tables outside if you want to soak in some sun. The meat lovers breakfast wrap is the BEST item on this menu. It is sooooooooo good. Honestly, I am not a fan of wraps, sandwiches, anything healthy for that matter, but these had me hooked and wanting to buy them every weekend. This place used to be my favorite deli. Close to work, pretty quick, super helpful and welcoming staff, and great sandwiches. They have changed owners, and the quality is nothing like it used to be, both in food, and service. Since being pregnant, I have rarely gone to lunch, and have been avoiding lunch meat, but I decided to go to Hilltop deli when I couldn't beat my craving anymore. I was severely disappointed. Their pasta salad is now almost inedible, coming a long way from being the best part of hilltop deli. This deli is a little gem in the hills of El Cajon. I love it. They run specials through the week so it's worth it to sign up for their text alerts. This place has the BEST Caesar Chicken Wrap in the SD county. So cheesy with a good balance of Caesarness to it. The pasta salad that goes with it is also delectable. What the heck do they put in that?!? It looks so simple, but the flavors are different from any other pasta salad I've had from a deli. Those two together for about $5, and I'm sold. this place used to be my favorite small deli to go to on the weekdays! now that its under new ownership its not the same....the service was okay but not the same warm welcome you received prior. I work down the street and usually frequent the Executive Friendship Deli, but they were closed today. So I made the (long) trek up to Hilltop to get my sandwich on. I ordered my usual Turkey-Bacon-Avocado-Lettuce-Tomato-Mayo-Mustard on wheat combo and waited 'bout 15-20 mins for my order. It came with a side of potato salad also. All in all everything tasted fine, but the amount of ingredients in the sandwich didn't measure up to my usual place. Good food, fantastic price. I work about 200 yards away. I have to say, even though it is the only option up in the business park, it is really good. In fact, it's pretty common to see El Cajon PD and Fire Department folks come up to the hilltop to grab food. The deli has a huge array of choices. Sandwiches, salads, and fresh soups. I eat there 2-3 times per week and there is enough variety to keep me coming back. All of the food at the deli is good. I've tried a lot of stuff on their menu and always been satisfied. They are absolutely fantastic here! They used to be great, but Nancy has taken things to a new level! Both Lola and Nancy constantly have a smile on their face and do their absolute best to make sure you are happy with your food. This review is long overdue. I worked in El Cajon from 2010-2012 where coworkers introduced me to this place. Let's just say after my first Reuben, I was addicted. I made sure to go there for lunch at least once a week, if not more. The staff is wonderful and efficient. They use only the best, freshest, and most delicious ingredients. I've tried many-a sandwich over the years, but the Reuben is by far my favorite. ALWAYS GET PASTA SALAD ON THE SIDE. NO EXCUSES. SO. GOOD. I've gone here twice in the last week and each time it was equally as delicious. I work in the area. Having a deli to walk to that has fresh food, awesome customer service and decent prices is the best. I must admit, each time I've gotten the veggie sandwich. I really need to branch out. I will agree that the pasta salad is slightly lacking; pasta with your choice of dressing (?) and shredded cheese (?). But whatever. I came here for the sandwich and it was legit.
