Stayed here for two nights while in town on business. I always stayed away from downtown Albany for safety and security reason that I was told but due to rental car pricing and availability, I didn't drive up to a Saratoga and decided to stay here instead. I arrived past 10pm and night staff often is not nice but not here. She was very nice and explained to me about breakfast and lounge options. Room was spacious, might be a bit dated but still clean. AC worked great and kept me cool at night. Fridge was in my room. Although their executive lounge is open, I recommend eating breakfast at the restaurant on the lobby floor. They currently offer from the menu and service is prompt. I liked my eggs benedict. Unlike many other Hiltons in the US, executive lounge is open. But I wouldn't put too much expectations yet. It was really small and minimal. Walking distance to the State Capitol, I enjoyed late afternoon walk near there and felt safe walking alone. I would stay here again when my business brings me back in the area. read more

After I spoke to a manager in the morning, he took my double off told me to contact the third party for a refund . Angelo in customer service refused to refund after I had already been told I'd get one. He is rude and disrespectful. Obviously they are allowed to sell hotel rooms with no working showers. 0 STARS. We booked a room with a king size bed for a wedding we had. We needed in the room at least an hour and a half earlier to be able to get ready. For some reason that was a huge issue for this hotel. They offered us a double with queen beds. Ofcourse thats not what we got, they are two full beds with STAINS ON THE SHEETS. The room is disgusting. Stains, everything is scratched up, the lights have stains or are different colors, so dingy and dirty. Front desk was understaffed, rude, hung up on me when I called them. Normally, one would expect a mint on their pillow in a hotel room. Not so here. Rather, I was greeted by the sight of what I assume was the former occupant's obviously unwashed underwear on the floor along with a bed that looked as though it'd just been slept in. Truly, a warm welcome. Our switch to cleaner quarters was then stymied by a front desk agent who required several views of my phone screen until he conceded that I'd booked through the Hilton website itself and not a third-party site as he claimed and begrudgingly switched my family's rooms, albeit not without forgetting to program our new keys. Not content to stop there, our breakfast vouchers were denied the next morning and once again we had to go through a song and dance until they were honored - although to be fair, given that the initial room my husband and I had been given would've looked like a Pollack painting beneath a black light, perhaps that was an attempt by the staff to spare us all some diarrhea as an apology for the previous issues. By that point we just wanted to check out as quickly as possible and so didn't argue the point. Unfortunately, we'd left behind a pair of boots in our rush to leave and had to return to the hotel twice before they'd tell us that they'd been placed in the lost and found. Hilton Albany - I spent a month there one night. Main lobby door: broken. Lobby coffee shop has, taped to the floor, a *rat king* knotted extension cord placed where you walk in to order. The cord is plugged into a sandwich warming cabinet. (Say it with me...Fire hazard). Room has: shower head at perfect height if you're 5'6" (short kings rejoice - I AM NOT A SHORT KING, I AM NOT A SHORT KING, I AM NOT A SHORT KING), mold on bathroom ceiling, chipping ceiling paint and paint on the wall that shows prior repairs (AKA: the Landlord special). The beds sagged - which is a great way to work on your core while you sleep #MultiTasking. The HVAC is a trip. The one sheet instructions at the thermostat will let you know that in the winter there is heat and in the summer air conditioning. You get one or the other..hotel's choice So in the spring it was heat. 70º in the room. Not being a fan of nursing home temps - I had a problem. At first glance this Hilton looks like you're going to get a swanky stay... you'll soon see it's not that way. Checking in took over 20 mins waiting for the ONE woman to help the two ppl in front of us while another guy stood by behind the counter... Get up to the room and it's typical. There is plenty of space in the room but WHOA. The bathroom was smaller than my own at home. They shoved a whole lot into a weeeee bit o space. I stayed at this hotel for two nights. This hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Albany. Overall I was not impressed by this place. The problems started with the room key not opening the door to our room. The rooms are very cold even with the heat on. There is no access to the parking lot from the hotel without going outside. Guests have to pay to have their cars parked at the hotel. The bathrooms have no ventilation fan so the steam would just stay in the room. The heat would barely made it to the bathroom. The water temperature barely got hot. When the heater in the room would kick in it would make a really loud grinding noise it was difficult to sleep through it. read more

The rental car co. Hertz still has one of their properties listed at 40 Lodge St when you perform a Google search for their Albany locations. Having made my way to what I thought was one of their locations (turns out they recently closed that location during the pandemic) I figured out the hard way that that Hertz location no longer exists. Leaving me with a need to create a new travel plan to Western, New York, where I was hoping to view a parcel of land before purchasing it. Which led me to check into the Hilton that also shares that address, 40 Lodge Street, as my motivation was to get somewhere asap to get settled and solidify a travel plan. I am mentioning all of this to say that I was an impromptu walk-in to the Hilton. The woman at the front desk quoted me a one night rate of $299. That seemed really, REALLY high but I wasn't in any position to question it, I just needed to get up to a room and get on my laptop. After checking in and getting up to my floor, I went to Albany Hilton's website to add my Hilton Honors points to my current stay, and their site showed that the room that I was checked into was actually $231 for the night, which is nowhere near what I was paying at $299. Also, for some reason she checked me into a double room when there were plenty of single Kings available! I clearly was not in need of a double, as I was traveling solo, checked in solo, and indicated to her that I needed a room for me and only me. Not me and some imaginary buddy. I thought that all of this was strange, but it get even weirder folks. So fine. I'm sitting at the desk in my room looking at Hilton's website with plenty of available rooms for nearly $100 less than what I am paying to stay here, and I check 3rd party websites too, who ALL have the lower rates - not one of them lists Hilton as having rooms priced at $299/night. I call down to the front desk to mention that hey, something is a little bit off about this, and she transfers me to Tara in sales, who mentions to me that though I only just checked in 20 minutes prior, that the rates fluctuate from minute to minute. I'm sitting on my cell phone quiet, thinking to myself that Tara must think I was born just yesterday (I couldn't call from my hotel room phone because the phone didn't work.) She puts me on hold, mentions something about speaking with a manager, and comes back to offer me a rate of $249 rather than the $299 that I was quoted upon checking in. Which is fine by me - it's better than paying nearly $100 more than what everyone else is paying! Finally, after getting to my phone calls, emails, more phone calls, etc. - all settled, I take a good look at the room that I've checked into, and the bed sheets appear to be the same bed sheets from the previous guests! ON BOTH BEDS! You can't make this up. The beds had not been changed over, they had merely been tucked in with the stains still on the sheets in full view of anyone who was paying attention. Which happened to be me. Not just one bed, but BOTH beds had stains on the comforter and/or the sheets. * sigh * So I was checking into a dirty room. This, for $299/night. How could I be so lucky? I go to my TripAdvisor account to check their rates for the night's stay, and they have a link that says that Hilton will price match lower rates, guaranteed, for Hilton Honors members. Yeah, no. Clearly that is not anywhere near reality, they won't even price match their OWN rates on their own website! I didn't complain about the sheets because it was clear that there was something malicious right beneath the surface going on here, something that was rooted in a deeper cause, and believe it or not, I decided to just sleep in my sleeping bag ON TOP of the stained bed comforter. $299 a night for this! The next morning, 10:30AM, I am on a phone call, housekeeping knocks on the door, I yell out "No thank you!" and she barges into the room anyway and asks me if I am checking out. Wait, WHAT? What kind of housekeeping person are you that that is your business??? I honestly can't believe the lack of hospitality at this place, it was like a Hilton Haunted House of Horrors. Bad things just kept happening over and over no matter how hard you tried to escape it, they seemed to have found a way to slyly harass me while I was paying to stay there! read more

If I could give this place a zero star rating I would. Hotel is conveniently located to NY state capitol, but that's the only positive. For a property that carries the Hilton name, we were very disappointed. Upon check-in, travelers were not issued key cards. Apparently, the device that encodes the cards was not functioning. Hotel room appeared to be falling apart...bathroom ceiling was peeling away as there was no exhaust fan. Be prepared for steamy mirrors. Toilet didn't always seem to flush...very frustrating. When I checked into my room, I literally walked into the worst room I have ever booked. The toilet Bowl was soiled, the tub was dirty, Wall paper was ripping off the wall, the bed was not made up properly and the headboard was damaged. overall it was a very bad experience. after I complained they gave me another room and when I went to check the room there was a have used 2 liter bottle of Sprite soda in the refrigerato. We stayed here one night. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom needed some updating and cleaning. There was hair in the bathtub and mold/mildew stains around much of the caulking. While staying at the Hilton Albany in the midst of a major convention, I went into their private parking structure on site to get a bag out of my car. A man accosted me in the parking lot, asking for money.I explained to him that I did not have any. The man then followed me into the elevator and asked me for money again. I ignored his request. He followed me off the elevator and began following me to my car. There were no security guards anywhere to be seen. There was no guard to get into the building. When the man kept following me I activated my emergency alarm on my car. This scared the man and he disappeared. I ran back to the hotel. When I told the people at the front desk what happened, they said, ok we will tell security. Then they walked away. They never asked me if I was ok. I was still in shock and went upstairs. I tried to call the mama her and was told I would have to wait 30 min because they were too busy. So I called the Hilton main customer service number. As a result the hotel finally called the police... 30 minutes later. When I finally spoke to the managers they admitted this has happened before. When I asked my my money back considering I had been staked, ignored and disregarded the manager stated that he couldn't reimburse me because "homeless people needing to be arrested were out of the hotels control," I reminded him this happened on HOTEL PROPERTY not outside on the street. Their lack of security was absolutely a factor they could control. The manager said he could offer me a free breakfast. Eventually I filed a complaint with corporate and THEY reimbursed me. I can guarantee I will never stay at that particular hotel again. I also know the teachers who heard what I went through have agreed they would never stay there either. I have no idea what the rest of the hotel was like. I spent a good portion of my single night stay fighting with management who tried to blame the Albany city police for the fact that the lack of security in their private parking building cannot stop men from stalking women at their hotel. read more

Took an impromptu trip to Albany for a conference, was able to get a room at the Hilton at the last minute. I arrived at almost 9:00pm, was warmly greeted and immediately helped by the front desk. I liked the attached parking garage, although it does cost $20/day - the ease was worth it. The room was clean and included a coffee pot and refrigerator. There is an indoor pool and fitness center. Although the fitness center is small, it was clean and did have 3 treadmills to use as well as elliptical machines and some free weights. I should note, they also offered free shuttle service to the plaza convention center where my conference was being held. read more

Super "run down" so "run past it". i'm serious. The facilities/building is nice but unkept and the people that work there know it because they are obviously miserable and they don't even take the care to show otherwise. They have little to no customer skills, but it works for this hotel. Paris Hilton and her family most likely have no idea this property is part of their portfolio and of the apacolyptic condition that it is in. They know it is one more money maker for their empire and "us fools" enable that by still staying there. The instant that you walk into the lobby you are transported to the 90's including the stench of cigaret from when it was ok to do that everywhere and anywhere. The same is carried out to the rest of the building. inside our room it was not noticeable, one plus for the hotel. However, the ac in the hallways was much more confortable than inside the room. Once we closed the curtains and blocked the sun it was better and even slept fine. The "indoor" pool was coooold and the advertised hot tub the hotel paid David Copperfield to make it disappear under the floor where it once stood according to the pictures online, which by the way, as of today have also disappeared. The first room I was sent to was left a complete mess, bed clearly recently slept in, towels all piled up in the bathroom and leftover trash in the room. Second room I was sent to, was the same, but somehow more of a mess! Finally once I got to my third room, I had no hair dryer or shampoo in the room. Called front desk and they sent housekeeping to send a hair dryer, this took no less than 30 minutes and what they brought me was filthy. The blow dryer was covered in some sticky film. Absolutely the worst place to stay if you have to be in the capital city of New York State. What a disappointment. My wife and I were really looking forward to a really nice trip. We were freezing all night. Apparently there's something wrong with the heating system. One part of the hotel is too hot and one part is too cold. Even when we checked in the experience was bad. We were there for a baseball tournament. People had to buy fans as their rooms were well into the 80s for temperatures. The lobby had a funky odor, similar to dog food. Rooms were not well cleaned, even at our arrival. No amenities at all, other than a pool. Even with our team discount through our tournament, rooms were very pricey. The hotel is actually "Full" with a convention tonight despite COVID and a tightening-down with state restrictions. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff (except one lady at the front desk who I was told is always mean) has been fabulous. A man walked into the lobby off the street begging guests for food and money. Security was quick to respond. The van drivers have been beyond gracious and kind. The hotel is a couple blocks away from the Capital, Empire Plaza, museums, and a park. A quick drive to restaurants. Checked in with Yvonne , she's simply amazing to say the least . I checked in via the Hilton app and did the keyless key with the app. I asked Yvonne if the room I choose had a nice view since it was my first time in Albany . She confirmed i choose a room with the view of city hall. In the afternoon a gentleman at the front desk mentioned the Starbucks was closed but did say to try the coffee in the restaurant it was a local brew. Who doesn't love coffee ?? I came down 10 mins past closing and Yvonne went above and beyond to get me a cup of coffee . Can I say it was really good coffee. My husband and I were looking for a place to get some rest after a long drive on our way to beacon from Niagara. We stayed at this Hilton, if I could go back in time I would have stayed anywhere else. We had to go back to the lobby 3 times because our key cards did not work to open the room. This is also after we booked a king bed and of course on arrival we are told that is not available and were given a double. When the key didn't work a 2nd time they moved us to another room where they key worked but the lock didn't unlock until the 8th try. Once we finally got into the room there were stains all over the carpet, hair on the bed and lights not working. To leave in the morning I tried to tell the front desk how our key wasn't working and he cut me off and told me it would. We needed it to get out of the parking garage, of course it didn't work and were delayed again waiting for someone to open the gate to leave. No working air conditioning, I changed rooms twice, filthy, towels were dirty, there was a stain on my sheets, the floors were sticky, and wallpaper and ceilings were questionable (think schitts creek ceiling). I was told I would get a receipt and the man at the counter told me to go fuck myself. I expect way more from a hotel with the name Hilton.
