It has a number of classic risks vs. reward holes that benefit the risk takers and punishes the overly bold players. It generally has fairly wide fairways but puts a premium on keeping the ball in the fairway. The greens are a challenge to read correctly and are well maintained. I've played over thirty rounds there and the course seems to play differently every time. I highly recommend it.

The new carts were fast and "executive" like compared to other courses. No two holes were alike and several were challenging as far as length and elevation. The views of the Platte River are better, and the tree removal has also enhanced air movement on the course. Less fungus than before! The staff is nice, and the clubhouse nicer! I've only golfed Thornridge Golf Course twice, both this summer, but have enjoyed it greatly both…read moretimes. The first time my wife and I played we were 45 minutes early and they let us on early (stupid mapquest!) and they next time we were 20 minutes late (stupid interstate construction) and they let us on when we arrived. Nice people! This 9 hole course west of Lincoln is well-maintained, affordable (via great on-line rates) and a fair test of golf. While not overly long, two holes have split (elevated)/blind lay-up/go for it tee shots. A couple other holes have a creek that splits the fairway, again, lay-up/go for it shots. Both par 3s play uphill. No sandtraps. Oh... and no beer or liquor but it seems everybody brings their own cans of beer in. Works for me! Clubhouse has pop and snacks but outside of balls and tees they offer little else in golf stuff. I find the greens here very putt-able, they roll very fair. Overall, I really like this course (my wife does too).

The park was fully booked as it was Father's Day weekend, but it never felt crowded. I really enjoyed painting ceramics by the lake when it started raining and hiking the various trails. The cabin was clean and simple. I am rating four stars instead of five because there were a few things that could be easily improved. It was very hard to figure out what amenities were available in the cabin theough the web site, which made it kind of difficult to know what to bring with regards to cooking supplies and linens. I appreciated the cooking utensils, but I would have liked some form of skillet or griddle. We made do, but it was kind of oddfeying eggs in a pot. I was able to navigate the park without much trouble, but some of my family had a hard time finding the cabin, so maybe the signage could be more clear.

How do you mess that up. Well, the sauce on the macaroni and cheese was extremely salty. They were kind enough to let me order a new dish. I ordered a pork dish as a replacement. It was worse than my first dish. I even had my girlfriends taste it so they wouldn't think that I was too picky. So very salty again, not even edible (they agreed). I was so disappointed that I didn't want to seem like I was a bother. I could not eat it. Ruined my evening. They need a new chef. And its not like they have a lot of dishes on their menu. For such a beautiful place they need to FIX the food. Clearly hit and miss!
