When I told the young lady I wanted to tip $10.00, the amount on the machine was $10.80. I was told the 80 cents was a "convenience fee". When the woman next to me heard me stating that it was BS that I had to pay that charge, she shared with me her experience: She is a "member" so her monthly visits are at a reduced price. However, when asked how much she wants to tip she always gives 20 percent. She has discovered that they are calculating that 20 percent based on the FULL charge of the service, not the amount a member pays! She stated she thinks she should contact an attorney to file a class action lawsuit so she can get her money back.
