I was here for a conference and the food was great! It was fresh, well prepared and celebrated Appalachian foodways. The campus is beautiful with recent renovations and landscaping. Improved signage would be helpful but overall this is a great site for a meeting. read more

Hindman Settlement School is a major historic and cultural attraction in Knott County. This is a very unique school that is well maintained and classes are still offered at the school throughout the year. The experience at Hindman also includes a beautiful craft store and museum across the street from the school, which has a plentiful variety of gorgeous traditional Appalachian crafts. This place has way more to offer than just the old school, they have a summer camp which is really neat. Also they hold a writers workshop and other arts and crafts conferences throughout the year. They have a five week camp for dyslexic students which allow them to be social and learn to get along with the other children. Also on this campus there is a walking trail that is brand new and has not even been open for a week to the public for them to tour. Some of the students were the ones that marked this trail and cleaned up the area for the public which is really unique. read more
