I am a fan of the Hippodrom since I have lived in Germany. They run a great tent at Frühlings fest and the tent they used to have at Oktoberfest. Since being ousted from Oktoberfest, they have decided to open up again at the Postpalast, this year. We decided to book a table and go with friends.
The positives are that you have a wide choice of drinks including Weißbier, Champagne, Wine and Dunklebier. You can also order a wide range of non alcoholic drinks if you so choose. Prices are the same as Wiesen and food choice is also quite reasonable. The room is very nicely decorated with a huge stage for the band in front. It is also open till 3am so many after Wiesen people will come in for the DJ and so on. There is also a big dance floor in case you wanna let loose.
The negatives are that it is not at Wiesen and is not full of people. It does not have the buzz that you have at a packed Wiesen tent. The pre paid vouchers was for food only and it was a ton of food. Drinks were on top. The service was a bit slow as well. First time at Wiesen waited for 15 mins to get a maß in hand.
There was well over a thousand people there so it was fairly busy but not packed. The band was also quite ok and payed some great tunes. The crowd was a little subdued, and that always makes the atmosphere a little less interesting. It is after all the first year and, I suppose it may change next year. Wait and see ;-) read more
