The Hipster photo booth failed to arrive at my daughter's wedding reception in Cincinnati on 11/15/25, despite receiving a confirmation email on 11/1/25 detailing what to expect from the Hipster Experience. We had paid in advance to secure a discount, but Hipster has not responded to any of our emails regarding this issue. Naturally, we were very disappointed, especially as we were excited to see all the fun photos. If I could give HIPSTR Photobooth ZERO stars, I would. This company is a complete scam and absolutely ruined a huge part of my wedding. I paid them in full months before my wedding, had everything confirmed, and then... they just never showed up. No phone call, no email, no explanation. On the most important day of my life, they simply disappeared. I got married on June 7,2025. What makes it even worse is the total lack of accountability. After the wedding, I reached out again and again--calls, emails, messages. They never once answered me back. They took my money, vanished, and have ignored me ever since. We booked Hipstr for a photo booth at our daughter's wedding on July 13, 2025, and paid in full back in January. Unfortunately, on July 1st--just two weeks before the wedding--we were informed that they still had not assigned a photographer. This, coupled with several alarming emails stating they were "going out of business" and an influx of negative reviews, caused serious concern. After speaking directly with a company representative, Joe and receiving written confirmation that we could cancel and would be refunded within 2-4 weeks, we agreed to cancel. We also recorded the call with their permission. As of today, we have not received the refund, well beyond the promised timeline. Do not book with this vendor. Apparently something happened to the company after had booked in the Spring of 2024. A month before my wedding we get crazy emails talking about how bad the company is and our event gets cancelled. The company pretended it was a cyber attack but then later said they were having issues. We talked to them and they appeared reasonable and said they would refund us. They also said we were never even going to get printed pictures on site. Despite trying to get our money back they never refunded us. Wish I could give zero stars. read more

I contracted out Hipstr for our company event. I made sure they included printed onsite photos for our event in the contract. When the vendor arrived, he did not have a printer. I was then called by someone letting me know they messed up and can't fix it. He 'assured' me he would make it up to me. I have requested our printed photos for 2 months now and they have done nothing to help. They absolutely ghost you if any problem happens, even if it is the contract. Really sad and embarrassing. This is HIPSTRs fault as they also contract out photobooth vendors to work under them. I would recommend you go with someone who actually owns the photobooth and not sub contracting them. I've never regretted more choosing Hipstr over a traditional photographer. I'm so sad to write this review. Posting for future growth by the company, so other brides don't sit here like me, wondering if I should have been a jerk and not given them the benefit of the doubt at every turn. - We booked Hipstr for our wedding a year ahead of time. We heard great things about the photo booth experience, and were stoked! Upon discovering the additional services, we looked through the photos they posted on their site, thought they were pretty good, and we struggled to see why other photographers charged so much comparatively. The price was fair, we thought, for what the photos were. So we booked. - We were hoping to chat with our photographer for 20 minutes or so to help them get a sense of who we are and what we like - you know, like people do. There was an e-mail questionnaire, we filled it out and sent it back immediately. No one apparently got it, because they followed up about us not doing it. I have an e-mail chain where they're like "do the questionnaire" and I'm like "I did, did you receive?", and they respond with "Oh, yeah. It's here. Uh, cool." - Two weeks prior to the wedding, I started to sweat about the photographer. I had done all the prep for the day, and was being asked by my day-of coordinator for the photog's info. I e-mailed the company, called the company, got nothing. My day-of coordinator helped, and finally got them to talk to us just a few days before the event. - We had items we didn't know how to handle, and needed to speak to someone about them (like, How do we balance "getting ready" photos? Are you sending one person to each location or do we need to adjust our schedule?). - We finally spoke to our photographer days before the event. She called us while she was driving, and her phone cut out a number of times, making us have to redial the number to reach her. We could barely get a word in. She kept going on about what "her brides" like. This is what we were worried about - we're not traditional folks. For example, we really hate "cutesy" photos that people LOVE to throw on Instagram. We like down-to-earth shots, candid shots. I made mention that we know we only have 500 shots in our package. I would really like to focus on: little moments that go unseen, candid shots of the people we love. I don't want to see 20% of our shots come back as pictures of the table decor. We didn't think these requests were too much. We simply told her what tone we liked to set. - After ending the call, there was still some hesitation because we knew she didn't write anything down (she was driving), and she seemed pretty headstrong about her point of view, treating me like I was some neurotic bride just stressed about the big day. I have to promise you, I wasn't... I asked the coordinator if this was normal, and she confirmed it wasn't. - Day of the wedding. We don't know if/when our photog is going to show up. But she does! She comes up to where I'm finishing my makeup (apparently the "getting ready" photos were out the window at that point), and starts badgering me about what to do. 1 - That's what the phone call was for. 2 - Why are you asking me 100 questions when you know I have a coordinator you can check in with? 3 - You're ruining the last calm moment I have before the insanity starts. But ok, sure, I think, Golden Rule, treat others kindly. So I kindly ask her to check in with our coordinator, and we'll have a great day together! - Well, my hesitation after the phone call was justified. Our photographer hit every "cutesy" photo in the book. Foreheads together, spin her around... ugh. We didn't want to make a big huff, but we did remind her that we really don't like these kinds of photos. Instead of listening, she fought us every step of the way - "No, they'll be cute, do it again, it's so good...". - Now, 5 weeks later, we finally get our photos (which the coordinator and I both had to ask them to provide). 10+ pics of our dessert table. 20+ pics of me fiddling with my shoes. Not aligned with what we wanted at all. Our wedding really was a wonderful night. Yet, looking back at the photos, it's clear we didn't get our money's worth. Our coordinator works with Hipstr a lot, and said she probably won't recommend them anymore based on this experience. I think they have since changed their pricing structure, but when we booked with them they just had 1 transparent package that included the whole shebang. When I compared with other photobooths, it was a nightmare trying to compare apples to apples .. but once we did find a way, it was obvious that Hipstr was the right choice, factoring in both economics/value and picture quality. Hipstr were ULTRA organized and ULTRA professional. I never waited more than a few hours for an email response, and they were very systematic about how they "onboarded" me, while still maintaining the flexibility to customize our logo, physical setup, etc. A few weeks before the wedding, they proactively sent me an email with what to expect, which was so welcome in the busiest time of the wedding planning process! Lastly, on the day of, our attendant, Al, was phenomenal. He had an amazing attitude, was polite, professional, and accommodating. He went above and beyond in making our scrapbook (which we ended up using as our actual guestbook for the wedding), and in stopping/starting the camera when people were assembling, as well as adjusting the camera's zoom to accommodate large parties. We felt so lucky to have him there the day of the wedding. I wouldn't hesitate to book Hipstr again. They took all the variables out of the photobooth process and added many features (that I didn't even mention) that I didn't even know were a thing - like hashtag printing (ie if someone posts a pic with your hashtag, it prints to the printer on the spot!) and printing a number of pictures equal to the number of the people in the photo (many companies don't). It seems like all of our guests loved the photobooth, it was a HUGE hit and the pictures are great! We received a photo album that guest helped put together that night with their photos with some messages. We love having the memories of our guests enjoying themselves on our night. The one small thing that I didn't love was that our host started the booth 40 minutes earlier than we had discussed (so at the beginning of our cocktail hour, rather than towards the end). The price you are quoted includes EVERY POSSIBLE THING. They have great backdrop options, will work with you to customize your graphics (and they also have template options if you don't feel like designing from scratch). They offer unlimited printouts, they have the hashtag printout option, they bring a monitor that shows live shots (fun option) and every single photobooth attendant I have ever worked with has been SO kind. So naturally, I hired them for my wedding on May 26th. The attendant was awesome and even though photobooths are not really a new thing, my guests really, really loved my booth. I selected the open air booth and love that you can cram large groups in the booth and another really nice touch is that they will make enough prints for every person that was in the shot as well as an extra for your scrapbook. This is THE BEST Photo Booth company! They provided our photo booth for our wedding at the New York Botanical Garden this May 3rd and our wedding guests loved it! Their setup is amazing and Luke and his team are absolutely wonderful to work with. They helped add so much fun to our wedding. Guests took home so many pictures. They have the best quality booth, prints and props around. You also get a social media kiosk so guests can email the photos to themselves or post it to social media on the spot, a screen and projector so guests see their photos on a wall, their booth takes video and they had guests put their photos and sign a guest book for us to keep! We used this beautiful gold shimmer background and their cameras made everyone look beautiful! They personalize the photo strip for you (they gave me so many versions to choose from!) and they even let me use their projector and and screen for our slide show in the middle of the reception. And, you and your guests get digital copies of the photos after your event! We love seeing and having all the photos that everyone took. We cannot recommend Hipstr Photo Booth enough. It seems as though the marketplace of photobooth operators has recently expanded rapidly, making it difficult to select a company with whom to work. However, there are differences among these companies, and I consider Hipstr to be among the elite in photobooth operations. So, how would one differentiate photobooths? 1. Structural quality: Hipstr photobooth is high quality and looks nice, certainly befitting a wedding or any other fancy event. The structural quality of the booth may seem like an afterthought, but it should certainly be a matter of concern. I've seen more photobooths, both as a guest at events where they were present and also during bridal shows as a customer, than I care to admit. You'd be surprised how often a photobooth is nothing more than a few PVC pipes with some velvet drapery that is haphazardly thrown together. I was actually at a wedding where a patron stepped on the "curtain" and the booth fell apart. Aside from that, these poorly designed booths look ugly, especially against the backdrop of an elegant wedding. 2. Props: let's face it, photobooth users love props! The props provided by Hipstr were actually very cool. In addition to the standard glasses/hats, they had a variety of signs with silly messages. This allows for prop usage by guests who would prefer not to ruin hair/makeup with other props that are worn. All in all, great selection. 3. Camera quality: the picture quality was superb. We've gone through our digital copies and they all look great. The printed strips also were very clear and high quality. The camera took pictures quickly but with ample warning. And the interface was easy to use. 4. Service/professionalism. Although I left this item for last, this may be one of the more important characteristics of the company. Response time was always almost immediate. Questions were answered thoroughly. Even after we booked the event, they were always available to offer suggestions. During the event, our attendant was knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely courteous. He ensured that guests were traversing the lines quickly and fluidly.
