Under construction... a big selection on a Wednesday evening. Price was okay for a week night as gone are the days of mid week cheap. You pay before you play. One thing I found a bit of a turn off was the register lady eyeballing you to make sure you put in a tip before you even sat down. The booths defiantly need an update. It's what you would expect from a place like this. A lot of variety, hot and cold foods plus desserts. I am not a seafood person and still found plenty of dishes to occupy my plate. Stopped in on my actual birthday and got a free buffet! I'm calling this a win. Food was constantly being checked and filled. My only complaint is that they bring out maybe 1-2 servings of crab legs at a time every 10 minutes or so and if you are waiting on them they are gone in an instant. Tables are clean and the bussers are constantly grabbing empty plates from your table. Buffet style eating is not my first choice but if it's gonna be a buffet I'm choosing here. read more

Went to Hiro Buffet in Aurora for dinner the past Saturday. Knowing weekends and the New Year holiday would draw crowds, arrived around 4 PM. Parking was nearly full even that early. The terrace in front of the restaurant was cordoned off with iron fence for renovations. Honestly, never saw anyone sitting there since the place opened, wonder whether they're repurposing it. Perhaps to deter dine and dash customers or to lighten the servers' workload, customers needed to pay first at Hiro. After the meal, servers would bring the receipt back for guests to add tips. This was actually quite convenient, eliminating the need to wait for a server to settle the bills. Compared to last visit, the plush toy shop at the entrance had expanded, offering more plush toys and even adding a claw machine. Whether it's psychological or simply because it's been awhile since last visit, the buffet stations seemed brighter, cleaner, and more organized than before. Even the floors and walls appeared slightly different. Most dishes remained similar to before, offering a wide selection primarily of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. However, several new items have been added, such as fried frog legs, BBQ ribs, peanut candy, and ice cream bars. The Mongolian BBQ station was located on the corner away from the buffet stations and most dining areas, so these areas were mostly free of the BBQ smoke and smell. Notably, the sashimi on the nigiri sushi here was exceptionally large, appearing fresh and having a satisfying texture. The selection of sushi rolls was extensive, with most being the specialty varieties. The buffet stations were replenished promptly and items were freshly prepared and hot. Staff constantly monitored the buffet stations, using earpiece to notify the kitchen for replenishment, very efficient indeed. Prices were $21.99 for dinner Monday through Thursday, $22.99 for Friday night and all day on weekends, and $14.99 for lunch Monday through Friday. Not too much of a variety. Off of Havana Street, the parking lot looks to be under construction, but still plenty of spaces. They had all the classic Asian dishes and a few American dishes. They had a small hibachi grill in the back corner, hard to find if you don't know it's already there. The staff was friendly and kind but not that attentive. Sometimes the table would get crowded cause of how many empty plates we had. We also had to flag a waiter down a few times to ask for a refill on our beverages. I hope this place gets more variety of options to choose from, but I don't think I will be going back unless it's for a specific reason. read more

TLDR: if you like sushi and quality meat, skip this place and don't risk it. We went there for lunch and customer service was fine, despite several reviews about it being tense or poor. Why 2 stars? I love buffets but this one had some issues. The main issue was the hot food and sushi. The hot food had some problems with meat quality. I kept having to remove hard chewy bites I couldn't chew well out of my mouth. It was the lowest quality meat in a stirfry I've ever had. There was also not a large selection of hot dishes, this was at lunch time so maybe there's more other times. That left the sushi, which was... rough. Only a couple pieces even had raw fish in it. Most of it was imitation crab stick or what seemed like cooked *canned tuna* and it was not a good idea. Even the dragon roll was with tuna, and it was inedible. It was the most revolting "sushi". So with poor sushi options and with minimal and low quality meat in the cooked options it was hard to find a meal there. We mostly ate soups and appetizers. I didn't give one star because $15 is actually less per person that two soups and several appetizers to share would have cost, I think. I also enjoyed the green beans and the chicken wings which were maybe the best buffet chicken wings ever. The Mongolian grill randomly closed down as well while we were there, no real hours but he went on lunch break and didn't leave a note. Over all, dinner is too costly for me to ever experiment with it again, but I'd try the Arvada buffet for lunch before coming back here ever again. read more

We go to this buffet for years. A lot of delicious food. But in a couple of years the quality of some dishes has changed. One of my favorite "Peppered beef" now has a very low quality hardly chewable meet. You cannot even call it beef . I'm visiting Denver, CO and my 89 year old aunt wants to take me to her favorite sushi buffet for lunch named Hiro Japanese Buffet at 2797 S Parker Rd, Aurora, CO 80014. So prior to this, I read the other reviews, some of which were humorous and a bit on the negative side. However, this is one of the most inexpensive buffets I've seen. There was even a senior discount. Upon arrival for lunch, parking was not a problem, due to the large lot. The building looked like it used to be a mexican restaurant(?). You pay up front with a tip request and then select any seat you want. There were plenty of customers enjoying the buffet. The restaurant was very clean, as was their buffet serving areas. Booths and tables of various sizes were available as was a large event room for private partys. There was a huge selection of food included; sushi, shrimp, broccoli beef, tempura, soups, cheese rangoon, egg rolls, baked seafood (my favorite) and the list goes on and on. They even have a Mongolian BBQ! The dessert table had a great selection which includes ice cream cups. The service was actually very good. Dishes were cleared, drinks refilled, and our server asked if we needed anything. I really liked the food very much and it did not upset my delicate stomach. It's been about 4 years since I last came to Hiro Japanese buffet. Once inside, the decor is somewhat of what is expected in your typical Chinese restaurant. I like that it was clean and pleasant. The dining area was very spacious to accommodate a large number of customers. Restrooms were close to the entry and was kept pretty clean. Although their website says they had hot pot, they did not. They told me they do not know when hot pot will ever be available again. As I went to get my food, there were a variety of delicious options to choose from including salad, soup, appetizers, sushi, main entrees, including many seafood dishes, and Mongolian BBQ. Everything I tried was tasty and flavorful. The Mongolian BBQ was fun to try out as it's been so long since I had it. We ended the meal with some cake, ice cream, and rice pudding. Overall, this was a great choice for a birthday celebration and hanging out with friends and family. The food was excellent and service was good. I would definitely come back again! read more

When I confronted her about the vents she trew me and my family out of the restaurant. After paying over $100.00 for my family and dididn't even get our first plates of food. Can't believe I'm leaving 4 stars for a buffet but honestly it was bomb. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The sushi was really tasty, I super loved the teriyaki chicken and even the crab legs were good which is unheard of where I'm from at a buffet. The service was friendly and it was clean. We have come here twice for Mother's Day now per request but every time this place is straight up NASTY. All of the food on the buffet is soggy and has no flavor. The orange chicken is so gross and the beef and broccoli is always slimy. Even the rice tastes off. I don't do sushi so I can't speak for that part of it but the buffet itself is horrendous. They do a good job keeping it stocked though I will say but the food is so far from even being decent. The best food on the entire buffet is the fried shrimp, fried chicken, and the crème puffs if they have them out on the dessert side. It's been about 2 years since we last visited Hiro Japanese Buffet. We took a long hiatus after a negative experience, but we finally decided to give it a go again. I'm really glad we did- the food was exactly the same as it's always been! To me, this restaurant is extremely nostalgic- we used to come here all the time and I'm honestly so glad we decided to stop in again. We went on Sunday, and I think it was about $22 per person. My son who was 2 is free. I don't know at what age they start charging for kids. The sushi is top tier- especially for the price point. They have a ton of nigiri options. The salmon nigiri and white tuna (escolar) were so delicious! They are definitely my go to orders at any sushi restaurant and I love when AYCE places offer them. The sushi rolls are also quite extensive- I didn't really eat much of them, but the ones I sampled all were really delicious. I love the hibachi bar! You get to pick from a plethora of meats and seafood options along with a bunch of veggies and carbohydrates. I typically get a few pieces of short rib and a bunch of bean sprouts and onions. The chefs cook it up right in front of you and you get to choose either a teriyaki, Mongolian, or chili oil sauce. I am so glad that the buffet has stayed exactly the same. My top picks from the buffet are the coconut shrimp, pork ribs, and pepper beef. Honorable mention to the beef and broccoli and calamari. My son had two plates of the noodles, so I'm guessing they're a hit as well! On a Sunday during peak dinner time, the restaurant was pretty busy, but that just means fresh food! The staff is constantly refilling/replacing trays of food so you don't have to worry about getting food that's been sitting out for a while. They have crab legs and in the past I would have been all over that, but honestly I was way more interested in the sushi and hot food area since it had been so long since we had been there.
