Unfortunately the castle café is closed from January 6th through March 13th, but during their tourist and early winter hours they're open from 10am to 6pm and in winter closes at 4pm. It's located in the same building as the tickets and souvenir shop, just walk through and take a seat. They'll come to you for your order, but it may take a few minutes for someone to realize you're waiting, which is what happened for us. We sat there for about 10 minutes before the waitress realized she had new customers. Their menu is only in German, so make sure you've got a translation app downloaded on your phone so you can understand the menu. The menu consists of small entrees, alcoholic beverages, juices and soda. They also have a speciality coffee menu and 3 options for kids. There is also a dessert menu with almost a dozen options for treats and sweets. We ended up ordering the schnitzel with potatoes and Vienna sausages with bread and butter. The schnitzel was amazing and the potatoes were super tasty, the herbs they were baked in added a nice flavor and a little crunch. The Vienna sausages were basically 10 inch hot dogs with a spicy flavor, a packet of spicy German mustard and a slice of rye bread. It was good but I was expecting something different, so I'll probably try something else next time. The café has about 15 tables as well as an outdoor terrace with views overlooking the Mosel River and town below. It was very quaint and quiet even though they were fairly busy, with only one waitress working. Our order ended up coming out to about €23 euro with our drinks, so it wasn't too bad for two people honestly. I hope during the tourist season they have more people working so customers wait time is reduced but other then that, it's a great place to grab some grub before or after the castle tour. Overall our food was good, service could've been a bit better but we enjoyed ourselves. 4/5 just because the service was a little slow.

A few things I'm looking for is an actual espresso machine (not the one click machines...) and milk options since I prefer oat milk (Hafermilch in German). Galestro is located right in the Jesuitenplatz (square) in the Alt Stadt (Old Town) of Koblez, near the Johannes Müller monument. The square is surrounded by restaurants and is quite lively. The outdoor tables were full, so we went inside the espresso bar and sat by the window. You order at the table, so we waited only a minute before someone took our orders. I speak a moderate amount of German, but the server immediately turned to English when he heard my group- so don't fret if you don't speak the language! I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and also saw that they have flat whites, wine, etc on the menu. The coffee was GREAT. My partner got a long espresso and also enjoyed it. One thing I'd give a skip would be the almond cookies (overly sweet), but the drinks themselves sold it for us. If I'm ever back in town I'll come back, and maybe hit up the wine bar located right next door!

A few friends and I booked a Castle viewing and Rhein River trip and one little gem in the middle of the trip was a scheduled stop at Stefans Wine Paradise. I am not a heavy alcohol drinker and when the owner Stefan offered us some brandy to taste I was hesitant at first. I previously had an unpleasant experience with brandy I had tried that was very alcohol heavy. Stefans' pleasantness won me over and I tried his brandy and am I ever thankful I did as it was a wonderful balance of sweet flavor and just the right amount of alcohol to warm you up. My friend and I purchased a variety of flavors and had them shipped home. This year during another business trip I took a group of friends to Stefans' and it was as enjoyable as I remembered. Stefan is a fantastic person and his warm and inviting demeanor will leave a lasting impression on you. I highly recommend giving this place a visit if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.

It is a town of half-timber houses and a romantic castle (Reichsburg Castle) which overlooks the town from atop a mountain peak. The castle was rebuilt in 1870's after a major fire. Tours are available. Cochem was an Imperial state and of major importance both in Roman & Medieval times. The medieval city center can be accessed via the Enderttor (city entrance gate) dated 1322. In this area you will also find the Monument Geschiedenis, Once through the gate you will find the 1681 Rathaus in the marktplatz. This is the heart of the aldtstadt and like many old towns, it to has a fountain (Martin's Fountain). Other sites worth exploring are St. Kastors (8th-9th) century, St. Martin's church, Skagerrak Brucke and the historic Senfmuhle (mustard factory). The Gebruder Kold family offer cruises on the Moselle River. The Cochemer Sesselbahn is a chairlift originating in the Endert Valley and will take you to the Pinnerkreuz, a 255 meter lookout point.
