So far I've been satisfied with my urologist here. Other doctors or urgent care have told me multiple times that nothing is wrong other than my hygiene yet i take all precautionary measures to prevent Utis and yet i have them almost monthly! She ran a CT scan based on a theory of kidney stones that kept breaking down and giving me this infection then building back up (found that the same bacteria kept appearing in the last 5-6 culture tests), and found kidney stones and another issues with my spine! She says the kidney stones i have are too small to be "impregnated " with any bacteria so she is now running a cystoscopy. She also reached out to a known provider of vitamins for those who suffer from chronic utis and introduced me to that as well! So far we have not found the cause but unlike other doctors she is not giving up! read more

Dr Chadwell is great. Surgical Specialties office staff terrible. Wife has needed gallbladder taken out for over 2 weeks now and now they are pushing her off another week, I guess it is ok to let someone not eat food and be in pain for 3 weeks. Surgery was set last Wednesday and something came up during surgery. Now they are in no hurry to get it done while my wife is in constant pain. read more

15 years ago, I was sent to Dr. Crain on recommendation of my physician. I first noticed that the handicapped parking was on the opposite side of the main entrance, although there were several nearer entrances marked staff and doctors only. Once I entered, there was a huge waiting room filled with 50-60 people, many coughing, and some with screaming children. After waiting more than 2 hours after my appointment time, I brought this up to Dr. Crain. Far from apologetic, he began arguing with me. Incensed, I swore I would never set foot in Surgical Specialists again. For the next 10 years, I had my surgery done by other local surgeons in the area. In June of this year, I needed a colonoscopy, and my doctor recommended Dr.Moore. I asked if he worked at SS, She stated yes, but I had no choice as all county surgeons now worked at SS. On August 18th I went there for post op report. Still the same situation as 15 years earlier- absolutely no change. After waiting 35 minutes past my appointment time, I approached the front desk and was told Dr. Moore would be an hour more late. Enraged, I told them to mail me my report. I then talked to the office manager; Ms.Sissy Harper (30 years on job) who after hearing my complaints responded "There are many who like our service here". I left, and I then called the Hardin Memorial Hospital patient advocate office by phone, and got an answering machine. I then typed an online complaint to the PA office but when I hit submit nothing happened, although cancel worked perfectly in erasing the complaint. Unknown to me, the next day, Dr. Moore mailed an angry letter to me. This letter was sent by both regular and certified mail. However, no post op report was included as I had requested from both the front desk and Ms. Harper. Dr. Moore stated: "I will no longer be able to attend to you professionally because of your unacceptable and threatening behavior toward our staff and providers". This is an incredible, one sided falsehood from a doctor who had talked to me less than 10 minutes total at the initial appointment in June, and not seeing me at all the day of surgery in July. Dr. Moore continues in his letter: "I suggest you consult your family provider, your insurance plan, or the yellow pages as soon as possible". This he knows is futile as HMH Surgical Specialists operates as a complete monopoly of general surgeons. He also knows that I probably already done all those things and so he figures that I will suffer his abuse quietly, or be forced to go out of the county! Also, who did I threaten exactly/ Was it staff? Providers? Who? This is another falsehood that simply never happened. If I had done such a thing, why were the authorities not called?. They were not called because this simply never happened. On August 25th, a week after the incident, I received a letter from the HMH Patient Advocate. In this letter, she states she has sent a grievance to Ms. Harper and Jeff Kingerly. She then basically takes the surgeons side for their lack of time management. I then call the PA and ask for (1) a copy of the grievance (2) a list of general surgeons accredited by HMH, and (3)a copy of my preop report. She declined all three. Finally, she stated that she knew nothing of the letters from Dr. Moore. It is important to note that her letter does not address the handicapped parking, non communicating pre-admission computers, or her non functioning web site. What is certain, is that both the PA and SS like to send out letters filled with false accusations and inaccuracies but neither cares about, nor answers, any of their patients specific questions. Finally, the HMH Surgical Specialist is an arrogant, non-caring monopoly, which should be avoided completely due to its complete lack of concern for its patients. Their arrogant culture continues decade after decade because the same arrogant staff and doctors continue to be employed there. And why not, for they all know fair well that they can do whatever they want because they are a monopoly as is their parent hospital; HMH. These arrogant surgeons and staff also know they will be protected by a PA office that advocates for them, and not the patient, and who will not answer their phone and an inoperative online complaint form. As for Dr. Crain and Dr. Moore, I suggest they employ their skills in a more suitable venue; The County Coroners Office. Working there, they could simply show up whenever they want, work as long as they want, because the cadavers are never going to complain or question them! Lastly, speaking of cadavers, I will probably be one before I am ever mailed a copy of my post op report from HMH. read more
