My life was changed forever for the worse. Ordered a test that was dangerous for a person with one…read morekidney for a cyst that was really one quarter the size he told me it was (supposedly golf ball size) . He even called the insurance company telling them how important it was to get a better look at it. It all seemed so serious (they initially rejected it). That's NOT how cancer is diagnosed. I was tipped off two hours after having the gadolinium that I better start drinking a lot of water by a nurse practitioner at his office when I called for a random reason two hours after the test. Eventually agitated and projectile vomiting I called the doctor who said, "Can I talk with your husband?" I had actually called the doctor because I knew the low life husband only took himself to the emergency room. "The doctor told him that it sounded like a panic attack." I thought about calling an ambulance but I figured my husband would get mad because it would be an additional $3,000.00 on top of the ER cost and frankly I was in a bad way. Did not know what to think or whether they would give me another gadolinium test. The gadolinium caused me to have a stroke (saw the "remote lacunar infarct") on a later scan of the brain looking for neurofibromatosis at UT in San Antonio). What I needed was fluids administered in an ER. But since I had no idea what was going on. And I had a deadbeat husband. I wandered around the house for a week unable to drive or really talk. I immediately could not recall words. I was at the point beforehand at the point when I could have started teaching. Then couldn't recall anything. And still can't. I dumped the bald German dr and got with a new doctor with all five star reviews. Turned out she was part time and really was a hormone doctor who was friends with him. I told her about the stroke. And she didn't order any therapy for it or necessary tests (like a culture when it comes back "trace", etc.) and on and on. Every doctor in town is associated with the hospital that does not give instructions or verbal warning when a test is more of a danger when a person has one kidney. They just give you a red sheet with all the warnings on it. I assumed everyone got the red sheet and that this test was necessary. What it was was an effort to please the radiology people at Peterson Regional Medical Center. And bring in money. Ultimately, the first doctor I was referred to at UT Orthopedic Oncology left. He wanted to take this tiny cyst out. And I ended up with the head of the department who told me this cyst was not the size I had been told. He appeared greatly shocked and dumbfounded and did not know what to say. Clearly this was all bogus. Now I have metal in my organs and had a stroke. I did not have the surgery for a tiny cyst on a nerve. Been cut on enough. If you are about to have a kidney taken out, be fully aware that you really do need two kidneys. Your life will not be the same. Heard horror story of someone else who had no symptoms until renal cell carcinoma had spread throughout his body. Ya. I had no symptoms. Then I was cut in half. Difficult business. This doctor should have said I really don't know what you need. Can't diagnose over the phone. And I'm pissed you called me at home. (Which he clearly was.) I am no longer the family speller because I can't spell or remember words or anything else. And I am finally rid of the penny pincher. And I don't have to be treated by anyone who works at that hospital or is affiliated with it.
