A must visit while in Fairbanks! This was my favorite distillery visit ever. We walked in and grabbed a seat at a table and took a look at the cocktail menu. Lots of options! They have about 8 vodkas and 16 liqueurs. We went with the Earl Grey Martini, Hot Toddy, Hot Apple Cider, and six (plus a bonus Crystal vodka) shot tasting flight. The Earl Grey Martini and Hot Apple Cider were our favorite cocktails. The taster of Crystal vodka was very smooth and we ended up buying a bottle of it. We also got bottles of the coffee, sour cherry, limoncello, and gooseberry liqueurs as they were all amazing. They even have recipes for every cocktail printed out that you can take home! read more

I stopped in yesterday so my husband could try their drinks and local vodka. I did not anticipate having a drink myself since I really don't like liquor. I am a beer person. He talked me into their hard lemonade which was actually pretty darn good. I enjoyed it. My husband had a moscow mule and one other specialty drink. He enjoyed both of his. The lady who helped us was super friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. She was working by herself when we first arrived but she did a great job at managing everyone's orders in a timely fashion. Hoarfrost Distilling is amazing! We went there both Thursday & Friday trying to sample all the deliciousness they have to offer prior to leaving the state Tuesday. The staff truly knows their products & offer wonderful recipe ideas for each bottle you purchase so that you can enjoy it at home. The Brilliant & Earl Grey Vodkas are absolutely amazing. But than so are the Chokecherry, Raspberry, Limoncello & Coffee Liqueurs. (Ok, those were my purchases only because that's all the room I had in my luggage) Everything is absolutely amazing. The only drawback is Hoarfrost isn't allowed to ship their products yet so taking more out of state is difficult. My first time here in Fairbanks. My friend took me here before my flight back home. It's quite a small cute distillery. I had the Christmas special - coffee with vodka and whipped cream. And it was delicious! The vodka was top notch and went down smooth. And they don't skim on the vodka either. I was thoroughly tipsy going back on the plane. We had just finished a very cold hike and didn't want to head straight to dinner. We swung by hoarfrost to check it out as it was just before 4. We were perfectly fine to wait in our vehicle but the staff very kindly waived us in (even though we couldn't order until 4--perfectly understandable). This place...they know what they are doing with the vodkas. We went during the month of Oct 2019. (off season) so it wasn't crazy. Was on vacation to catch the lights. We had a private little tour and was able to sample their vodkas. It's a husband and wife owned establishment. Back story of how the owner came about creating his own vodka was interesting. He was a vodka drinker and wanted to impress his father in law. But sadly, father in law passed away before he was done. Parking lot in the front. Small distillery but they know what they are doing. Now- Vodkas. We tasted and then brought home the Crystal and the Brilliant. Brilliant. In LOVE. BEST! Hands down the smoothest vodka we have tasted. Mind you, we went on a vodka binge and tried over so many different brands. To owner's recommendation, we even compared it to the expensive Beluga vodka (which cost us about $98ish). Brilliant was SMOOTHER! We regret not bringing home more bottles. Checked online to see we can get it online-NOPE- ALL SOLD OUT. We would go back to Fairbanks for this distillery. read more

This is the most amazing vodka , infused vodka, cocktails and mocktails! If you're in Fairbanks or the vicinity, this is a must do stop on your itinerary. Allow time to listen to the "tour." It's not really a tour because you don't walk around; you sit and listen to how this business was formed and then the love and knowledge that goes into making a vodka that doesn't burn the hell out of your throat. This goes down like water with an ever so slight amount of heat so you can actually enjoy the taste. You don't buy this vodka for a college party. As it was explained: say vodka and water and the sound and taste go hand in hand. I am not a big drinker, but I enjoy going to breweries, distilleries and wineries. I like to hear how the product is made and taste the differences. Even if I don't like a spirit or a brand, I like to go. And who knows? Maybe I haven't had the "good stuff" or been properly instructed on how to prepare a drink. Such was the case here. First, don't look for a huge building. This is a small operation in a strip mall. Google maps will get you there. When you enter, you'll see a beautiful bar (no seating at the bar), comfortable seating in the room with small tables, mellow lighting created by fabric flowing from a central light. You'll see a menu of drinks, tasting opportunities, and of course, the tour. For the tour you go in the back where the vodka is made and pull up a chair. This is casual. You'll listen to the whole story, smell moonshine, smell wheat, see charcoal, smell something like acetone- all part of the history lesson. You'll get a little chemistry. Then it's time to taste. My experience with vodka includes a friend in college bringing me what I thought was a glass of water and I took a big gulp and my throat was literally on fire; buying cocktails and wincing at the taste of the vodka while it set my throat on fire; and eventually avoiding it altogether. My son didn't like it either but he's always up for new experiences. Our view of vodka changed with the first taste of Hoarfrost. It was so smooth, with a delicate taste and no inferno in our throats. Barely a tinge of heat. And that was their 1 week charcoal filtered vodka; the 2 week (& more expensive)was heaven . Then came the infusions. Not your typical flavors! Chokecherry, limoncello, raspberry- my favorites. I was not a fan of the Bloody Mary infusion (I don't like bloody Marie's so this is no surprise). The first evening we went was upon our arrival in Fairbanks- 4:30 PM, -33 degrees Fahrenheit, and wanted to be able to take the time to enjoy the experience. Since I was driving the tasting was my limit. But I bought a few bottles to take home. All bottles arrived in tact- always bring wine skins when you travel so you can protect precious cargo in your luggage. Now here's the bad part: you can't find Hoarfrost outside of the distillery yet. They're working on this in a select few areas, none of which help us here. However, I was told that a licensed alcohol establishment could purchase it- so I guess I'll have to get to know a local bar and encourage them to give this a try. Free parking in the open lot-plenty of it Bathroom Not sure about Apple pay Great place to chill with friends So the cocktails and mocktails are cheap compared to LA prices and really cheap for the quality and taste you get. The bottles are a bit pricey, but for the quality and taste, reasonable. It's also a better deal to buy the big bottles. My son liked the little bottle shape and he's going to be sharing with his girlfriend. read more

The cocktails are top notch, well priced and made with either handmade infusions or high quality organic mixers. The owners are actively involved daily to enrich your visiting experience. We have visited this place twice now, and it just gets better. Hoarfrost may be new, but they are also among the best. We have done the tasting/tour experience on both visits and it is well worth it. The owner and distiller offer different perspectives on the tour. The vodka is AMAZING. Last year we said we wouldn't be surprised if the price doubled in a year it was so good. The price didn't double, but they did release a higher-end variety! You can only taste the infusions in the tour and in the cocktails (not available for purchase) so take the opportunity to do it. The vodka at Hoarfrost is so smooth, it's almost a little dangerous. They make super creative and tasty cocktails. I like the intimate vibe at Hoarfrost. The decor and furniture is classic, super comfortable, and very pretty. They usually have nice, original, and local art on the walls that changes monthly from their first Friday art shows. The service is great and the folks behind the bar will give you all the info you want to know about a certain cocktail or about the processes they use to make their small batch vodka. This is a great place to start your night if you plan on going to dinner or to see music or want to pre-game classy style before going to another bar. You don't know what vodka distilling is until you try it here and take the tour. I always shied away from vodka because I am a scotch drinker. Now I have seen the light - the lighter side that is. It's a small venue and apparently the law limits what can be done. So the vodka is basically small batch (2018). I've found only one vodka that compares closely to Hoarfrost - and that's Beluga. Hoarfrost vodka is super clean with a slightly nutty finish - but I'm the only one that tastes it. It's really nice. There is no hangover because they quadruple distill (and filter too). Joakim Luick (https://www.facebook.com/toivo.luick) comes from a chemistry background so he knows how to make ethanol but also what NOT to make that would taint the experience. They are also green with the goats so that's a plus. Take it from a pro - now I drink vodka in the summer :) tc read more
