I save steel and aluminum cans not because I need the very little cash that they are worth, but because it's my way of recycling in Hobbs America. Don't get me wrong cash is cash. Aluminum has to have its own pile and still has to have its own pile. It doesn't matter if you bring them in big plastic trash bags, or if you have them in a bin. I saved all my cans in separate BRUTE (by Rubbermaid) 44-gallon trash cans. Most of my aluminum cans were not crushed. Your metals cash out by weight. Aluminum cans were $.75 per pound. Steel was $185 per "NTon." I had only 23 pounds so I got $2.13 worth. Lol. I ended up with a total $10.38. Money which I'm just going to turn around and put in my kids' allowances. The process is pretty simple. Just stopped to read the signs before you head in because on one side is aluminum, steel, copper & brass while the other side is iron and tin only. After they weigh your items, they give you a ticket that you take inside the office. Parking is available near the office which is just around the corner from where you'll unload your metals.
