I was under the impression that anything sold would be reflected as a store credit to be used at our discretion. I stopped in a couple of weeks ago to buy some dishes and asked to use my credit. I was informed that there was no credit and that a check had been issued, that is now expired. I had a check...when?? That was not at all clear and I was not notified. I sent a message and received a call from the store about the issue, and nothing will be done. Not even a hint at a possible solution besides too bad, but the check is expired, nothing more. I asked if people are notified about consignment checks and they are NOT. The checks are put in a drawer and removed upon expiration if they weren't picked up. Even if I misunderstood, shouldn't customers be notified of money they are owed for personal items sold? I'm surprised that no message is ever sent. So, I gave my items to the store for free. My patronage must be very low priority. Questionable business practice and extremely frustrating.

It's also the place I recommend it others looking to shop local. They have a great spot located in the District of Ankeny- the staff is always friendly and the owners are equally nice. I love a shop with a mission and heart behind it- and CLM is all of those things! If you're in the Ankeny area this is a must stop. Be sure to check their hours as they don't open till later in the week.
