The staff are on the ball and know their stock. If you are wanting to track down a random old comic, then make sure to ask for Hugh (older guy with dreads), he certainly knows his stuff and has managed to track down a number of specific titles for me. I'm not really into the comic scene these days, but still love finding a random independent graphic novel. The store carries a real diverse range and I couldn't resist the zombie survival handbook last time I popped in. They also stock a lot of 'figures' like Star Wars and Nightmare Before Christmas toys. Some of these can be expensive, but they also make a nice random present for movie fans. If you are into your Japanese manga they also stock a wide range of tittles in English, as well as random merchandise for movies like I mentioned above. Certainly a good shop to consider if you are at a loss for a present.

Better to skim and browse, and what better place to do so than Dave's Comics? A treasure trove of comics and graphic novels, with two little shops in the North Laine, Dave's is a great place to browse and buy anything comic related, from the items themselves to longer graphic novels and figurines and the like. I've always been far interested in comics than the actual stories within them themselves: so many characters, none of them can (really) die, the stories repeat themselves... still, I like keeping up with what happens in the comic book world, and love browsing some of the titles. Dave's is a wonderful place for browsing, it really is. No one bites your head off if you stand there for a couple hours, just looking through books and reading little bits here and there: a very nice service for the toe-dipping fan like myself. When you do actually decide to buy, you'll be pleased to know the prices here are very reasonable as well: a boon since comics have gone from a couple of cents to a couple quid per little book. I'm also pleased to see how many other comic-related items they have too (between their two shops), from figurines to posters to art books to other comic paraphenalia. I wish I had the money to be more of a comics enthusiast: for now, an occasional browse in Dave's will have to do!

Since the shop is in Brighton you'd expect a bit of slap and tickle and the stock doesn't disapoint as it ranges from the fun to the filthy. This place is littered with an insane collection of items ranging from the useful, to the amusing, to the downright vulgar. You'll find comical postcards, greeting cards, wrapping paper, toys for cats, and gift bags, as well as somewhat less essential novelty items, like a 'Do it yourself cure for erectile dysfunction', or a £15 'Nose shower gel dispenser', which, like it sounds, is basically a giant nose, that dispenses shower gel. I thought Malarkey was a really fun store and we had a great time riffling through the treasure-trove assortment of items on display. It's certainly worth visiting if you want to relieve a bit of stress, just fancy a laugh, or want to get something a little different for a friend.

Though I didn't buy anything, I was tempted. Beautiful wood that is a delight to touch and look at. The mirrors are outstanding. This is a true emporium of antiques. Lots of rooms lead from one den of curiosities to another…read more There are cabinets full of trinkets, jewellery, watches, china and all sorts. There are also clocks, furniture, glass, china, militaria, cameras, tools and all sorts. You could spend quite a while browsing the shop and then visit one of the pubs in the village, there seem to be quite a few. The Bull, The Horns, The Crown - and all these are in walking distance of the shop. If you want a nice Sunday out with a pub lunch, then visit this place. I am an amateur runner just starting out but they also seem to cater for all runners including the much more advanced than me! This didnt stop them advising me on what shoes were appropriate for me without making me feel like I wasnt important to them, as some athletic shops do if you are not part of the elite. They also have a rather impresive running machine that they can film you to chech your running style. I hear they moved from a smaller unit down the same street, I guess great service and good products does pay off!!

Anyone hoping for specialist information in this review will be disappointed; I can't tell you whether they stock particularly hard to get hold of decks, or anything like that. However, the sales assistant was deeply engaged in conversation with a customer, and they have a whiteboard which lists upcoming releases and local CCG-related events. Although it's all totally lost on me, and most people would probably think this shop was horribly geeky, I like niche shops like this because they obviously cater to an extremely passionate and dedicated clientèle.

If you already have everything you need in the lounge and bedroom department, they also sell gorgeous kitchen and bath accessories from china, glasses, tea-pots and coasters to candles, soaps and towels.
