I ordered 4 cubic yards of garden soil. If what they delivered to me was garden soil, it had very little of anything other than dirt in it. I assume they made a mistake and brought Top Soil. When I complained, they sent me another 4 . Same stuff. It was put in my garden and unless it rains heavily, it's dry and cracked like a drought garden. Soil does not retain moisture; it pools and turns into a muddy mess. Incredibly disappointing experience. I will never, under any circumstances buy anything from them again. read more

Very disappointed. Originally felt very confident spending a substantial amount of money for landscaping plants due to their "guarantee". Don't be fooled. There is no guarantee. However, if your plants do not survive you will be belittled for your lack of knowledge. You will be accused of not planting at all, or planting incorrectly. My receipt and a picture of the dead plant was not sufficient. I was told that they needed to "see the roots". I returned the next day with my dead plant and was told that it was "not dead enough" and to take back home and replant. I was berated for digging it up, even though I was told, on the previous day, that they needed to see the roots. As I was asking the individual that was "assisting" me for some advice, he abruptly turned away, saying that he needed to go assist another customer, immediately, even though I was, literally in mid-sentence. I was left standing at the check out counter with a dead plant. Was never even offered any advice nor any sort of refund or exchange. I certainly will not be wasting my money there ever again. read more

I called Hillermann with the hopes of ordering a perennial flower plant to send to the funeral home. The person answering the phone listened to what I was looking for and said that the greenhouse could help me pick something out and then would bring the plant to them to finish processing. The greenhouse was so helpful. I was struggling with the phone call due to the loss in our family, and she was so helpful, giving me opinions on what would be nice to send. Then the floral department did such a great job of putting everything together after I picked something out. It couldn't have been a better experience, and they made a really difficult task so easy for me. read more

I ordered "topsoil" and all we received was clay and sand. I talked to Scott Hillerman and he assured me that all topsoil has clay in it, he has been selling this for 40 years. He also assured me that the clumps of clay would crumble once died. Well he lied on both. They are hard as a rock. Please go to a more reputable establishment for your topsoil as he won't even refund your money when you don't get what you ordered. read more

Hillermann's Florist did all of the flowers for my wedding. From the bridal bouquet, unity candle, to the boutonnières, they delivered. I gave them examples of what I was looking for and they ran with it. The amount of compliments I received on the flowers was enormous. Their delivery service also made the day go off without a hitch and they were so easy to work wi. Since moving back to the Wahington area in 2017, Hillermans has failed us repeatedly. We initially requested service for our grass in the fall of 2017, they never called or addressed our request. We returned the following spring to again address the grass issue and also to have some design plans created for our front yard and courtyard landscaping. At that time they sent someone out to repair our grass issue and to design our landscape. After a month of waiting for the plans to be finalized, we find out that they have gotten rid of our designer. So we have to start the process over again from the beginning. So the whole project was finally completed about 4 months later and just 10 days before my son's wedding on the property. So, here we are almost a year later and we have sinking areas in the courtyard, areas that have dropped 3-4 inches below the sidewalk, and dead plants. The only thing they are willing to do is to replace the plants. They are not even willing to do the labor to replace them at no cost to us. So very sad that a business I used to love and respect has forgotten the customer service that made them great once. read more

Don't Order the Topsoil!! Nice folks, and good plant assortment, but we don't recommend buying their "topsoil": it's nothing but lumps of clay mixed in with sand. Really disappointing, and not good for your yard. read more

My uncle and I purchased a mower about a year ago and had it delivered.When we received it I noticed it was missing a part or two that was on it when we paid for it. I contacted them twice to make good on it but both time I received the same sale pitch, and they expected me to pay for what they took off it. Until they make good on it, they lost a long time regular. I worn u if you buy something there make sure you get everything you paid for. read more

Wife and I moved to Labadie from Chicago in March 2016. Since moving back, probably spent $1000 in house plants, pots, lemon tree etc. a week ago, stopped in bought two more plants and 2 more pots. A week later one of the plants died. No biggie. Called hillermans and asked if they warrantied house plants. Transferred to one of the two Debbie's in the garden center. Was told 30 day warranty. Called back one more time before going in and asked if they wanted the dead plant back. Debbie said yes. Went into hillermans same afternoon at which time both Debbie's said they didn't remember speaking to anyone. 6 hours later??? Then it took a group of six people to decide if they warrantied house plants. They finally said they did but I can assure you it wasn't a friendly decision. The staff at hillermans acted like I was trying to rip them off. If they had told me no warranty when I called, I would have said ok. They told me they warrantied so I took it back. We were treated rudely. We were treated like criminals. Hillermans: understand that people use social media. Treat people right or loose business. You lost thousands of dollars in business over, confused business practices, rude employees and a single $30 dead plant. Nice going. I've spent my last dollar at hillermans. This florist / business was very accommodating. I am from a different state and I wanted to order flowers for a sick Aunt in Washington, Missouri. After spending and paying $$ I asked if they could just send a quick picture to my phone of the flowers I bought so I knew what I had just purchased when I speak to my Aunt again. They said, "NOT a problem, I can do that!" And within 30 minutes I was able to see a photo of what I had purchased. And Hillermann's were going to deliver them today! Please know that another florist in the same community listed on yelp indicated they could not do that. They acted offended and even hung up on me. I did not order from them. Beautiful place but did not have a good experience because of a rude employee. We rushed over there right after work because they close at 5, which isn't convenient for anyone, and when my husband and I walked in the door an employee was standing in the entry way. I thought she was just greeting us, but then she said, "what are you looking for?" My husband replied, "we just need some grass seed." And no more than he finished saying that, she said "well you have about five minutes." And she walked away. I didn't appreciate this, and working in customer service myself I would never tell a customer how much time they have until we close. If you plan on going to Hillermann's make sure you don't try to go after work... they will make sure you know they are bothered by you. Even you do choose them over Lowes. read more
