The stadium was super cute and lots of parking available ($5 cash only). The food was a bit pricey but that's to be expected at any stadium. We got a brat and a water and it was $20. There are drinking fountains for free throughout though. The shade shifted throughout the game so the seats all had their share but the lawn seating was in direct sun the whole time. Had a great time watching the A's play the Guardians yesterday and we enjoyed this stadium. Parking was $5 - cash only. They had security and police at the gates and the employees scanning tickets were friendly. Once inside, we made our way to the lawn area, claimed our spots, and put our blankets down. There is no shade whatsoever out in the lawn areas so be prepared to get some sun. We bought a few drinks and snacks. Three beers, one soda, one iced matcha, a hot dog, and an order of chicken tenders. The game was entertaining but sadly the A's lost. read more

We decided last minute to go to this spring training game. It was a Sunday afternoon 1:10 pm game. I got our tickets online from StubHub. We wanted to sit behind the pitcher's mound and found some tickets on the 4th row. Seats 1 and 2. They were really awesome seats. So good in fact I never got up once during the game. We got to the stadium about 45 minutes prior to the start of the game. Parking was $5 which I thought was reasonable. The security line was super short. We brought a clear bag with some water and a few snacks. Everyone was super friendly. They had a cute little coffee stand, ice cream , etc . I did buy one of those little MLB ice cream helmets. If you go to a day game the 2nd row is shaded but the sun was on our back anyways. I just love Spring Training so much. They had a cute little gift shop and a Baseballism store. Standard parking is located in a well-maintained field and is organized. The parking fee was $5, and the parking staff members were super friendly. Out of the 4th Cactus League stadiums I saw a game at, Hohokam was my favourite. Nice mountains views. Parking was $5, one of the only stadiums we went to, to actually charge for parking. We brought lawn tickets on the day and I want to say they were $22. You get paper tickets and they somehow linked to my Ballpark app as well, I never gave my email or anything. Plus they add $2 on the day fee but no other fees at the box office. Didn't try any concessions. No mention of Oakland anywhere I saw. read more

I had been here way back in the day, and recently returned this past weekend. Here is what I liked, and didn't like about the stadium. Liked - Cheap tickets. We got field level seats on the 3rd base line for about $15.00 after fees. - Easy to get to. - Really nice scoreboard! Best thing about the field, for sure! - Fans around us were knowledgeable. Didn't Like - Parking. $5.00 to park which is ok, but its one way in, one way out...bit of a cluster. - Sun. Even though the tickets were cheap, they were in direct sun until about the 8th inning. Grass parking was $5 and Very well organized, nobody parked like a jerk and all the cars were in straight uniform lines. 2 people scanning tickets then you are wanded down Stompers kid zone had a bouncy house and baseball game for the kids Up close and personal space to watch the pitchers warm up in right field. There's a kids speed pitch contest for 12 and under and 13 and over and they announce prizes for the top boy and girl Right field deck has fake grass, picnic tables, big jenga set Concession stands are covered so it was easy to get to your seats without having to bypass people standing in line waiting for food, drinks and alcohol. Willie Mays said it best. Back at the grand opening of the Giants ballpark, when everyone was swooning over the the beautiful bay views, Willie proclaimed "we're not talking about a condo here..." He was onto something: A beautiful view from a ballpark seat is an asset but it matters not at all if your team stinks out there on the field. As a long-suffering A's fan I can attest that even the Oakland Coliseum looks just fine when the A's are playing well. Hohokam Stadium is the Chicago Cubs former Spring Training ballpark and it's now the A's. The Cubs moved into much nicer digs, the A's did a wee bit of sprucing up, and the stadium is a perfectly fine retro place from which to take in a game. It's very clean, parking ($5) is a cinch, and in a nod to the Bay, there's even an in-house Ike's (likely the best food in the park). Unlike at the Giants Arizona home, there's nothing nearby to attract you either before or after the game. And unlike the Cubs Arizona home, there's no iconic sign with which to take a selfie. For those who want to document themselves in each ballpark, your most sure bet here is to make your way to the outfield and play around with shots you can get on the wheeled in, bright yellow "Hohokam" sign. Spare no expense, A's. I would have said that the high point of my visit here was the beautiful warm weather and the free lollipops from Ike's but then a player threw a ball into the stands and it was caught by one in my party. Shortly thereafter, A's left fielder Khris Davis hit a grand slam, something that might've been better saved for the real season but was appreciated nonetheless. I wouldn't want to spend day after day at Hohokam Stadium but if you do, you can see every home season game here (on the grass) for a pass that runs less than $50. Otherwise, a nice seat near home plate ran a bit past $30 but honestly, nobody checked my ticket and I have a hunch I could've paid a lot less and sat anywhere I desired... not that I'd ever do that (wink, wink). Hohokam is a perfectly fine place - no more, no less - from which to watch a spring training game. read more

You never really know what to expect until you see a place in person and my experience was very positive, There is not a bad seat in the house. Parking is super cheap and easily accessible. There are lots of vegan options to eat- I ended up with noodles, impossible burger and other goodies. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The tickets are super cheap and I was able to catch some first base and home plate action the two games I watched here. The scoreboard is beautiful! I made my first visit to spring training last week and since I'm an A's fan, I saw 3 games at Hohokam Stadium. As with all the other ballparks I visited last week, this ballpark makes me dream "what if" something like this were built in Oakland? Oh well, a guy can dream...................... Parking is a breeze and you're extremely close to the stadium. The parking attendants are super friendly and very helpful. Getting through Security was easy and the lines moved really fast. Once inside the ballpark, the views from your seats or the lawn area are amazing. The bullpens are both located out in right field, so you can watch both teams pitchers warm-up. It's a smaller ballpark than some of the other ones in AZ, but there isn't a bad seat in the park. The scoreboard in left field is fairly big and you can see it from all locations. During batting practice, they have a camera behind the hitters, which is really cool. I liked seeing pictures/murals of the A's history, which I think was a nice touch. It allowed me as a fan to reminisce about the history and some of the awesome ballplayers that have worn the green and gold over the years. Being able to interact with the ballplayers and get some autographs before and after the games were a nice treat. The players were really friendly and accommodating. This is what I dreamed spring training was all about, so I'm so glad I got to witness it first-hand. The food options are OK and like others have said, you're going to pay major league prices, but I expected as much. I did enjoy a chili cheese dog that I felt was worth the price. My only disappointment was the A's Team Store. They had a very limited selection of spring training gear and even ran-out of fitted hats of all sizes. All the other parks I visited last week had a lot more apparel, selection and styles. You'd think they'd do a better job stocking their store, knowing that Hohokam Stadium hosted games 4 days in a row. Regardless, I plan to be back to enjoy more spring training games in the future. read more

Today, Sunday March 20, 2022 was me and my son's first spring training game and our day was completely made because of a young employee man. He worked towards the dugout entrance/exit, near the player tour buses, past the lawn seating in a purple shirt and had curly hair. He complimented my bag too. He gave my son his first ever baseball! As many have , I visited Hohokam Park for Spring Training ! I came the first week when the A's hosted the Angels . I purchased my ticket on StubHub for fairly cheap. I've heard horrid stories of being cooked alive if you do not sit under the overhang so I made sure to. Unfortunately I didn't need to worry about the sun this day as it was overcast , chilly and windy haha. Anyways , parking was $5 inside on the grass. Pull in, pay and follow the parking guy as he tells you where to park. One car after another . I feared it would be a nightmare getting out but it was not bad at all! Go to gate, show ticket , through security (metal detector ) and you're in. Nice park, food / drinks / merchandise prices high like any other place. All seats are decent seats. Great view and back drop. There was not a lot of people at this game and they mostly allowed anyone to sit anywhere Which was cool. read more

Lots of cute, urban t-shirts, hats and socks for baseball season. Danny has a very detailed style and wants things that not everyone owns. He found a backpack. Came here for a Spring Training game. My first one to be exact. It brought back memories of going with my late dad to the local ballpark to catch a game as a kid. Parking wasn't too bad. Sure it can get a little tight and messy with everyone parking in the grass, but the attendants make sure everything is in order upon entering. I believe it was $5 to park. Nice shaded seats, if you do so incline. There's also grass area you can sit at, but with the sun beaming down, we didn't want to do that. Food is your typical ballpark food -- hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, beer, etc. There was an area for food trucks as well, but we didn't want to miss too much of the game. Great place! Great atmosphere! Anywhere where I can watch a game of baseball in an intimate setting, work on my tan, drink a beer, and get hit on by twins deserves no less than 5 stars. Especially when said ballpark is also the most popular, attendance-wise, on the Cactus League circuit as well as the namesake for a stuff purple walrus I had back in junior high. In all the years I've attended Spring Training, I never had a chance to visit Hohokam Park, home of the Chicago Cubs as they never happened to play the Giants or A's during our trips . But this year, as luck would have it, the Cubs were hosting the Giants an hour after our plane landed in Phoenix. We had our fingers crossed that there would be no major flight delays and that scalpers would be abundant once we arrived. The Baseball God was smiling on us that day because our flight arrived on time and we scored a pair of lawn seats a few feet from our parked car. Parking is $5. Lawn seats are $6. The beer man comes to your spot in the grass and delivers you a nice, cold can of Old Style for $5. And if you happen to be a family from the mid-west, find that Chinese girl wearing the Giants cap and dump your kids on her for the afternoon, it's free. By the way, the twins I mentioned earlier? Hohokam Stadium was once the Spring Training home of the Chicago Cubs, before they moved to Sloan Park in Mesa. Hohokam Stadium is now the new Spring Training home for the Oakland A's as of 2015, which is a major improvement from their previous ballpark. The A's used to play at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, which was highly outdated compared to the other Spring Training ballparks in Arizona. Hohokam Stadium has all the features that you enjoy about Spring Training games. Their parking lot is right next to the ballpark, making it very easy to get to & out of the stadium. The prices for their seats & parking are also cheaper than most of the other Spring Training ballparks. They have lawn seating, which was not available at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. They also have the largest scoreboard in the Cactus League, measuring 12X16 feet. There's a good amount of seats that are in the shade, which is very important during the hot days. Their concourse is big enough to have people walk comfortable in both directions and it's shaded too. To me, the available shaded seats is very important because on multiple days and different years that I've attended Spring Training Baseball in Arizona, all the days were in the high 90's to over 100ºF. It's hard to watch a baseball game in the sun when the temperature is that hot. Even though this is just a Spring Training Stadium, this ballpark is a lot better than O.co Stadium (Oakland Coliseum)! I can see the A's having better season-attendances if they had an MLB ballpark like Hohokam Stadium during their regular seasons. Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona used to be the spring-training home of the Oakland A's way back in the day. It then became the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs for many years, but the Oakland A's have made a triumphant homecoming as of February 21, 2015 the stadium has been open to host the team. The stadium is a great piece of history and has been remodeled to showcase Oakland greats! Beautiful large pictures of Ricky Henderson and Mark Maguire adorn the hallways. Lots of shade added and now Oakland has a grass outfield for its fans. 57 foot scoreboard is the largest hi DEF scoreboard in the Cactus League. The last season was at Phoenix municipal Stadium and this is a huge upgrade. It definitely ranks up there with all the newer stadiums in the cactus league like Salt River Fields and Camelback Ranch. Great fenced in area that people can get autographs from players as they leave the field. Parking cost five dollars. TIP: Don't get your tickets online. Use box office at beginning of season to obtain tix WITHOUT tax, service charges (lame), delivery charges (what the hell is that) and to avoid the worst charge of all... FLEX PRICING. This is when they rip you off for tix to big games and it gets more expensive the longer you wait. Don't make this mistake. read more

Horrible experience today at the ball game. Walked to Right field from parking lot to where we had grass seats. We were told by the usher that we could not access there and had to walk back all the way around the ballpark to left field and then walk to right field! They had painted squares on the grass for you to sit in the square only! You had to leave your mask on the entire game! I bought a beer was told I had to leave my mask on while drinking or eating food!! Apparently the mask nazies were only singling out the beer drinkers as others around us did not have their masks on. The security there in right field harassed the kids to sit down as they called out to the players to throw them a ball after infield warm ups. This is a standard practice in every ballpark I have been to. Why can't they do this? Very extreme measures being implemented here and very unnecessary. I don't think you can catch COVID by drinking by yourself or passing it to someone more than 6 feet away from you. No one wants to pay $100.00 for grass seats and get this type of treatment and harassed by security kids in white shirts. I won't be back to this park. read more

I've been going to Spring Training games here for close to ten years now and this place is really the closest you can get to a Wrigley experience in the southwest - part sports bar, part stadium, all fun. Make sure you get an Old Style from Mark the Beer Guy (he can usually be found around home plate on the mezzanine.) As a rule, I avoid the concession stand hot dogs in favor of a Vienna Beef cart serving up Chicago style dogs, but we've all had those before. So if you're feeling adventurous, try the pork tenderloin sandwiches from the trailer behind the left field bleachers. Not good for you, but good. Ridiculously good. Perfectly breaded and deep fried. A true testament to the greatness that is Iowan pork. Oh, yeah, and there's some baseball being played, too. read more

We saw a Spring Training game here, the Cubs vs. KC Royals. This stadium is a ways out from Phoenix and Scottsdale, but easy by freeway. Parking costs $5 and really is pretty easy. Not much in the way of free parking near by. You can park a ways away and walk, if you choose. But again, it is not close. The park is clean and there are some areas in the second deck behind home plate that have shade for those hot spring days. There is regular bucket seating in the stands around the base lines, bench seating with backs along the sides from along the outfields and great grass seating with a steep incline in the outfields. This is perfect to see the whole field without having trouble seeing over the people in front of you. You will need to stake out your grass quickly, as it does fill up. Bring a blanket and pillow and you are set. The seating closest to home plate had the best straight on view. As you go farther out in the bleacher seating, you find yourself having to turn in your seat to see home plate and the base runners. It gets tiring after several innings. There are minimal concessions here. Not sure why it is so slim, but there just is less than other stadiums. None of the new fancy frills. No funnel cake, no kettle corn. Older park I guess. Overall I thought this was a fairly nice park. We had a huge late breakfast and did not require any concessions and they let you bring in sealed bottled water. read more

I've been to several spring training stadiums in the Cactus League and I have to say I really enjoyed my experience this year at Hohokam. The concourses are nice and wide, allowing people to move freely. There were lots of food options, including vegetarian options, and I never had to wait too long in line. Parking is only $5 and was so close and convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We sat in 204 and were in the shade the entire time.
